I DEDICATE THIS book to my dad Derek Steventon.

To whom I am named after but I have a middle name which is Martin.

But to be honest if it was not for my dad going to my school and asking for extra homework for the summer holidays I may never have written any books. But this is my first, He used to ask the teachers to give me more reading books and extra English homework if he had not asked them this book and the ones to follow would never happen.

Chapter 1

Polly’s Great Adventure

O UR STORY STARTS on a hot summer’s morning. I can hear Polly’s alarm go off! Suddenly Polly’s arm shoots out from under the covers and hits the button on the top of her alarm clock. She yawns loudly, opens her eyes and picks up her glasses.

That’s better says Polly. I can see now.

Just then her mum shouts her, Come on Polly, get washed and dressed, your breakfast is nearly ready.

Polly pulls off the covers, stretches and wanders off to the bathroom. She gets washed, cleans her teeth, goes back to the bedroom and gets dressed. No need to rush, after all it is Saturday. No school today.
