    About The Author

    I

dedicate this book first to God. Also, my supportive husband Calvin, my sons, Derrick, Darin and my daughter Chantel. I want to thank my children for loving me through all the rough times and believing in me. I truly thank God for my children that many days kept me going on when I wanted to give up on life but they keep me encouraged.

I also dedicate this book to my brothers, Freddie, Herman, Jasper, Willie, and Vernon who encouraged me to stay in school and get an education, in order to get a good job to take care of myself. My sisters, Linda, Angelina, Esther, and the sisters I never met Naomi and Sadie May also my brother Tiny

    INTRODUCTION

My mother whose name is Esther McChern Boykins and father whose name is Fred Boykins was from Durham, North Carolina. I had 11 siblings and only three of us are still living, some of them have passed away from their destructive behavior and some because of medical reasons. My siblings were all put in foster care because of my parents’ destructive behavior. My father worked as a bricklayer in Philadelphia. My mother at one time worked in Washington at the Washington DC US Mint but because of her alcoholism, she lost her job. I was born in Southwest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Mercy Doughlas hospital.
