    My Parents

My wonderful parents are the primary ones who provided a fine education, set good examples, and gave me plenty of opportunities to develop into a real gentleman. They also are amazing in showing unconditional love for a son like me, with my imperfections through the years.

For all of the above, I am deeply thankful!

    Re-Introduction

Dear Escort (or other curious enquirer),

Thank you! I am deeply grateful that you would entrust me and my writing with some of your valuable time.

Perhaps you know about and even read the first book I authored (with the same pen name), titled The Stripping Question, originally published in 2010. Countless strippers (and non-strippers) found it to be fascinating, enjoyable, and beneficial. It received a top 5-star review, and was judged to be a masterful book project. I was very encouraged, and numerous readers have asked me about writing a second book. Although escorts would find The Stripping Question quite interesting and relevant in many ways, I eventually decided there is widespread need for a book especially focused for escorts … a book presented from my unique gentlemanly angle. (This presentation of the Escort Enquiry is a refreshed and elevated revision of the original.)

One of the reasons I stated unique is because of my edgy calculated approach, which includes an unusual special respect for young women. When I was working on the previous (TSQ) book, a trustworthy spiritual advisor who I regularly met with concurred that I apparently have a particular grace that enables me to effectively reach out in those risky-risque environments while maintaining physical boundaries and good intentions. The advisor eventually moved to another city for a similar position, so out of consideration for his time and new responsibilities, I did not discuss my ideas to adapt my approach for possible encounters with escorts. Whether he would have concurred again, I did not know, as it would probably have been viewed as extra tempting territory. Eventually, after he read the manuscript and being fully informed, he did approve this outreach of mine. Either way, strip club or hotel room, I caution against fellows imitating where I have gone …

As you probably saw in the table of contents, I further discuss my approach and methods in a chapter. Although over the years fortunately I have avoided problematic behavior on my part, my methods are not foolproof and I do not view myself as impeccable.

A subsequent chapter then describes an expanded and deepened relationship with one of the escorts. Stay tuned for that!

Anyway, I hope this little intro stirs your curiosity about what I have to share and this Escort Enquiry helps foster openness to the possibility of enhancing your precious life and personal journey.

Figuratively I invite you to take hold of my arm and walk side by side as I properly escort you through these intriguing chapters.

                                                        Sincerely,

    A Gentleman

    Chapter 1

    Historical Snippets of

    The World’s Oldest Profession

Not all escorts are prostitutes, and most escorts would probably not identify themselves as a prostitute. However, since there are so often similarities, it is pertinent and interesting to learn at least a little history about the world’s oldest profession. It also helps broaden our perspective.

By the way, the euphemistic phrase the world’s oldest profession to refer to prostitution was first used or popularized after Rudyard Kipling’s 1889 short story about a prostitute, as a variation of his phrase the most ancient profession in the world. Opinions differ though on what truly was the first profession in human history.

Anyway, prostitution obviously goes way way back in time …

    1675 B.C.

If we opt to look in the first book of the Bible we find in Genesis chapters 34 and 38 of the Old Testament that harlot and prostitute are already in the topics of conversation. This is estimated to be around 1675 B.C.

    Other Ancient Times

One of the earliest forms was sacred prostitution, supposedly practiced among the Sumerians. In ancient sources there are many traces of this. In Babylon, each woman had to reach, once in their lives, the sanctuary of Militta and there have sex with a foreigner for a symbolic price as a sign of hospitality. ¹

Prostitution was common in ancient Israel, despite being tacitly forbidden by Jewish Law. It is recorded in the Bible that a prostitute in Jericho named Rahab assisted Israelite spies with her knowledge of the current socio-cultural and military situation due to her sexual popularity with the high-ranking nobles. The spies, in return for the information, promised to save her and her family during the planned military invasion, as long as she fulfilled her part of the deal by keeping the details of the contact with them secret and leaving a sign on her residence that would be a marker for the advancing soldiers to avoid. When the people of Israel conquered Canaan, she left prostitution, converted to Judaism, and married a prominent member of the people. ²

In ancient Greek society, prostitution was engaged in. The Greek word for prostitute is porne, derived from the verb pernemi (to sell), with the evident modern evolution. Female prostitutes could be independent and sometimes influential women. They were required to wear distinctive dresses and had to pay taxes. Some prostitutes in ancient Greece were as famous for their company as their beauty, and some of these women charged extraordinary sums. Solon instituted the first of Athens’ brothels (oik’iskoi) in the sixth century B.C., and with the earnings of this business he built a temple dedicated to Aphrodites Pandemo
