I began this endeavor because I too, love poetry and music. Through mothers’ voice, artistically, mine own begun, to resonate; at high pitch when asked of me, in well-formed formulae. Bound, within these pages is my magnum opus. Many are the fruits of my labors; curiosity, conversations, with people I have encountered. I have thought of the subject matter as such may be inclusive as poetry. I am well read; in my interests of the genre, also. My interpreting said material matter that mayhap be, to your literacy or be informative; i.e. our foray, on song. I have sought, to make it what you the reader will convey as, to your own syntactic/semantic interpretations.

Granvel Hopkins

Kissed by the Sun; I am firstborn of Lillie Belle and Granvel U. Hopkins Sr. Ocala, Florida area; where my ancestors and kin call home. We moved, to Columbus, Georgia; before becoming 1 yr. old. Mine are career military people. Relocating for several years, in Deutschland; I found “my voice.” My studies were of German and English. I became fluent, in reading and writing both. Often, I went, to the high mountains and learned, to yodel. My voice echoing was life changing! Back, to Georgia I enrolled, in 4th grade. I was interested, in the trumpet and was bought a new one. Military duty assigned me, to Texas and Georgia as an Emergency Room Technician and bugler. Remaining, in Tokyo, Japan, I was considered the first person of color, to be seen regularly; in multimedia, modeling, T.V. ads; newspapers etc. (1978)-Eddie Arab Modeling Agency and Hokko Enterprises and today Hylton Casting; ATL.

An unveiled 1st mind expands and exists freely; wherein dimensional resonance begins. As we are nearing another decade of this present age; I’m reminded change is supreme. We can choose; to remain where we are or redirect our moral compass. Wholly breaking free of the status quo; a long journey begins solely, with the first step. I offer those who open the book and their minds seedtime. A cornucopia for future growth. Our next generations of readers need newly found experiences. Key, to opening ones’ potential for knowing as wont our trek continues…

Reading and writing such poetry and prose has allowed us, to enjoy the interactions meted, between words and their usages. Noted; inspirations route taken, now leaves my carbon footprint and has since been watered. Talents regenerate an idea that has sprung forth from, within or out the wellspring.
