About this ebook

Our knowledge of God the Father is very limited. Because the Son of God, Jesus Christ is the Person of the Blessed Trinity, who took on humanity and lived among us, it is He to whom humans can best relate.

Nevertheless, as maker of heaven and earth, as well as all things visible and invisible, our Father in Heaven is highly deserving of our thoughts and prayers.

Although our knowledge of the Father is very limited, it is the purpose of this book to examine, as best as we are able, the magnificent and immeasurable Kingdom of our Heavenly Father.

I n January, 2019, I lost a dear sister, Sister Rose Agnes Pfautsch. She was not only a dear sister but also a dear friend. Her entire life was dedicated to our Creator and she is now a resident of his magnificent and immeasurable Kin gdom.

She joined the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration in Mishawaka, Indiana on September 9, 1949, which also happened to be the same day I entered the Franciscan seminary of St. Joseph, which was in Westmont, Illinois.

After several years teaching, Sister Rose Agnes spent the final fifty-six years of her life in leadership positions for her Order. She was a local superior for fourteen years, college treasurer, provincial treasurer, formation director for the Junior Sisters, a member of the Provincial Council for eighteen years, Provincial Superior from 1986 to 1998, and a member of the General Council of the Congregation located in Germany from 2004 to 2015. She also served on numerous boards and committees.

Although many miles separated us for most of our lives, we communicated frequently. She provided frequent advice on spiritual matters, including this book. She will be greatly missed by her Order, her family, all who knew her, and especially by this writer.

    INTRODUCTION

I believe in one God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invis ible.

Those beginning words of the Nicene Creed are the only sentence of the Creed which relates to God the Father.

Our knowledge of God the Father is very limited. It is perfectly natural that we who are called Christians would attribute much of what we believe to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is the Person of the Holy Trinity who lived among us and earned our salvation. It is He who taught us the way and the truth. Therefore, it is far easier for humans to relate more to Him than the Father.

Nevertheless, as maker of heaven and earth as well as of all things visible and invisible, our Father in heaven is also highly deserving of our thoughts and prayers.

What has been primarily attributed to the Father relates to the creation of things visible. Theologians and scientists have devoted a considerable amount of time, attention and words to creation. We will review some of those visible considerations in this book.

But it will also be our effort to take a broader look at not only the visible but also the invisible. In doing that we are better able to address the magnificence
