Who Do You Think You Are?

About this ebook
—James Lloyd Dunn, author of A Tree By The River
“Do you like poetry, and how it can help you see things differently? Brian’s poetry both comes from and points us to our inherent oneness as it encourages and gives permission for us to soften, to empathize, and to validate both our human and divine realities. I love reading a poem, drinking it in, and not being in a big rush to digest another. The book encourages the opposite. It reminds us to slow down and have reverence for each moment. I imagine it could be a perfect bedside book, where you can go to sleep and wake up by reading a poem. Let Brian’s gifts nurture and refresh your soul.”
—Scott Grace, author of How To Evolve During The Trump Experience Whether Humanity Joins You Or Not
“One purpose of poetry is to help us awaken out of a dream of false reality. Brian’s poems do just that, offering a tasty tidbit of a higher reality in each one.”
—Barry and Joyce Vissell, authors of The Shared Heart, Risk To Be Healed, How To Love A Man, & How To Love A Woman. (SharedHeart.org)
“Occasionally, though rarely, we find a work of words that touches our “forgetting mind,” and we remember the truth of Who we really are. Brian’s way of expressing his poetry is such a rarity. Thank you Brian for walking the path and with your words helping us to find the Light to follow you.”
—Tom Carpenter, author of Dialogue On Awakening,
The Miracle Of Real Forgiveness, & Let Love Find You

Acknowledgments
I gratefully acknowledge the writings of many spiritual teachers, including Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Gregg Braden, Marianne Williamson, Neale Donald Walsch, Gary Renard, Gary Zukav, Edgar Cayce, Tina Louise Spalding, Tom and Linda Carpenter, Robert Holden, and Barry and Joyce Vissell.
I would also like to thank all the various members of A Course in Miracles groups I have attended, as well as those of other spiritual study groups I have been a part of. A special thank-you to Scott Wilcox, who has been instrumental in getting all these writings ready for publication.
Dedication
I dedicate this book of inspired writings to my teachers, Jesus (author of A Course in Miracles and Jesus—My Autobiography), and Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith (cofounders of Alcoholics Anonymous).
Their teachings have been passed down to me lovingly by too many persons to mention here.
Preface
This is primarily a book of poetry, but I decided to include several experiences I have had, such as a song that I dreamed and several inspired writings I received during meditation. I have also included several other songs that just came to me by way of some inspiration. I don’t sit around writing poetry. In fact, I have no training in writing and have never written anything before this.
All of these experiences and compositions have spoken to me and are indicative of where I was on my journey at the time I wrote them. But I find that when I share them with others, they often speak to them as well.
All I ever wanted from life was to love and be loved. So, a few of these writings deal with love. Several of them deal with my recovery from alcoholism through a twelve-step program. Some of them use lines or ideas taken from a twelve-step book. Many of them deal with the teaching of A Course in Miracles, and you can also find lines and ideas taken from that book.
The poem titled Recovery Still Spoken Here
lists many people and what they actually said. I have taken a small amount of liberty in this poem in order to maintain the rhyme scheme. But each one of the people mentioned literally said what is recorded or put forth the ideas set down in this poem.
In my meditation writings, I address my questions to Jesus, whom I refer to as J.
The cover photo of a sunrise is meant to symbolize the light that is coming on inside me and throughout the world at this time.
When I reread these poems, they again speak to me, just as they did to begin with. I hope the ideas expressed here speak to you as well.
A Dream
I went to a party at a friend’s house with another friend, Barry. Upon leaving the party, Barry was seated in the front passenger seat of my car. As we went up the hill from the house, we encountered a large pile of sticks and branches in the middle of the road. I got out of the car and cleared them out of the way. I returned to the car and again started up the hill. I looked over at Barry and saw that he was no longer there. The hooded figure of death was sitting in his seat.
I continued up the hill and came to the main road. When I applied the brakes, there were none. We continued onto the road and drove directly into oncoming headlights. I felt myself rise up out of my bed as if I were a balloon. I gently bounced off the cathedral ceiling in my bedroom, and I heard myself say, Is that all there is?
I woke up, and the fear of death left me at
