About this ebook
Our thoughts are related to our experiences, upbringing, education, social interaction, knowledge and the environment.
Life can be beautiful or ugly depending on how you perceived it to be. You create your own World. It can be argued that this is easier said than done. Nevertheless, if you are able to achieve the level of awareness and understanding in your own way, you will understand.
The choice is yours. Don’t give up when Life throws you with all the difficult challenges and hardship. These are your teachers. There is always light at the end of the tunnel if you continue to accept challenges with confidence and positive attitude.
The transitional dilemma of each stage in our lives from the time we were born is just like a river flowing down Stream. If you take time to reflect as far back as you can, you will be able to experience a different surge of awareness of the dilemmas you had experienced be it happiness or sadness.
Life is a passing moment and Time is the essence of everything. We do not have much time on this earth. Do what is necessary that could enrich your life, be happy, peace of mind and stay healthy.

PREFACE
L ife is Simple, except…
Mr A has just made it through his college education. Although he wasn’t the brightest, he had in fact done the very best he could in his educational journey. And finally, he no longer needs to face examinations and the pressures of grading. With his achievements proven on his Degree certificate, Mr A feels secure and validated with the paper in his hand. He looks forward to showing it to his peers, parents and most importantly his future employers. He would utilize it summon his inner confidence during an interview and to let his essence shine – that he is a successful product of the education system and is worthy of a place in the company.
With his brimming enthusiasm, Mr A managed to impress his interviewers and he secured the job on the spot. Another achievement unlocked!
The first few weeks at the workplace was enjoyable as Mr A was welcomed by his colleagues and superiors. He was acknowledged and felt a sense of belonging. Mr A developed loyalty to this workplace. Over the months he had undergone trainings and learnt many things while on the job.
One day, Mr A was tasked to lead a project by his superior. He needed to work with people across different departments. As he went to different teams to build rapport and request for help, he slowly realized that not everyone was equally cooperative. There were colleagues who willingly offered help, and there were those who hadn’t any time to spare. Mr A felt that he wasn’t able to progress as quickly as he’d like. And his superiors wouldn’t be impressed by it.
Mr A quickly learned the importance of communication – how to deliver messages in a concise manner and be polite with requests. He realized that he needs to develop courtesy and be considerate when working with team members and colleagues from other department. He needed to be respectful to others’ time. On top of that he also needs to be knowledgeable and skilled in his areas of expertise.
The steep learning curve has made Mr A re-adjust his timelines too often that his superiors demanded a final deadline. For the first time, Mr A felt a heavy pressure on his chest. Feelings of inadequacy and incompetence arose in him. He felt stressed and he needed to resolve this issue either by working harder, faster, or improving his ability to delegate tasks.
Over time, colleagues start to see Mr A as a problem
because they could not accommodate his requests. Finally, the situation was escalated to the respective managers and new priorities were established in order for the project to progress. Mr A learnt about respecting others’ priorities and how to move forward. He learnt how to ask for help from his superiors.
A year passed, and Mr A has gained a lot of experience in his job. However when it came time for the appraisal, he scored an Average
because he was not able to meet deadlines. Mr A was frustrated that, despite all his efforts, he was judged only by the end result and felt punished by the lack of cooperation from other departments.
He saw his peers get better appraisals, and he felt lousy and that he wasn’t appraised fairly. That very day, Mr A left work on time for the very first time. Along his journey home, he started to question his reality. Were the superior’s praises sincere, or were they an act to keep him motivated? Was his loyalty betrayed? A conflict arose in him and he started to question the sincerity of the people around him. In his cynical state, he validated that certain people were not what he thought them to be at first. Mr A soon found out that he himself was positively biased to the company because of his deep sense of belonging at the workplace, and that had resulted in him interpreting things
