This book is
dedicated:
To my father-in-law, the late Reverend Earl D. Carrick, whom I can honestly remove the term in-law
because he was a true father to me from the first day I met him.
To my stepfather, the late Deacon Eddie M. Howard, whom I grew to love like my real father. He was there for me when I needed one. I truly appreciated how he was a grandfather to my children too.
To my mother, the late Algie H. Howard, who meant everything to me. She was my heart. When God called her home, it left a huge void in my heart.
Special Acknowledgements to the Following People:
To my beloved wife, Cheryl E. Chavis, who is my inspiration and biggest supporter. She is also my personal editor and the author of ‘The Spirit man In Her".
To my youngest son, Fredrick I. Chavis, who has been a great inspiration to me and a big help. He has also been a motivator in getting this book done.
To Robert Price, the designer and artist of the front cover of my book. He created exactly what I wanted with only a brief description.
Preface
This book was written as I remembered the tragic deaths of my best friend who died at the age of eighteen and of my other best friend at the age of forty. As I thought about their untimely deaths, God put the words of this book in my mind. If you know someone, perhaps a family member or friend, who is involved in gangs, whether it be in inner-city states or in the Southern states, maybe this book is for you.
It is my desire that the educators of America allow their students from junior high up to high school to read this book. Lives can eventually be changed and saved from harm and danger. How many lives are you willing to save?
Introduction
Have you ever wondered how your life would have turned out if God had not intervened? Take some time and think about it. Every day we make choices, some good and some bad. Our reactions to our choices will help us or break us. Life is all about choices. Yes, we will make wrong choices, but we must learn from our mistakes. Nobody is perfect but our Lord Jesus Christ. There are angels walking all among us, protecting us from harm and danger. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Remember, a scripture of the Holy Bible (King James Version) says, "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some
