The air was cold and dry, after hitch hiking for about an hour on these seemingly barren roads, a truck had finally stopped. A female driver had pulled over, she seemed to be pretty manly for a lady, even by my standards. But then again I didn’t look too great either. My dirty, grungy brown hair was tied into a pony tail, and my I could feel my green eyes were exhausted. My face was covered in dirt.
I felt like the runaway I was out to be. Her truck smelled of beer, old burgers, and her radio spat out country music. Even if her truck was disgusting, she was actually pretty fit and well put together. But I am running away because my life hasn’t been what is seemed. I was adopted…at least so I thought.
My parents were loving, and caring, but they were actually government officials who purchased me, I learned that I was a genetically modified human, meant to be used as a weapon or a sense of defense, and I wasn’t the only one. I thought that maybe I was special and unique, and praised my abilities. Some evil bastards had done this to me…and I wondered what happened to my real parents.
So what’s your name, honey?
the driver asked, her country accent was heavy and thick.
Abby…and thank you…for stopping, I mean.
No problem, Sugar! I’m Chloe. And I can’t just leave a little girl all by herself, especially being a mother of four!
The fact that she was married shocked me, nothing against her… So, where ya headed?
California.
What? And where’d you come from?
D.C.
