FOREWORD
To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
There is no doubt that #ACall2Worship is a book for this season and has a purpose to call back the Body of Christ to true worship. A worship that is marked by a consciousness of who God is; total surrender and submission to His word.
Rayon demonstrates through his life experiences and revelations from God that our existence serves a greater purpose beyond our childhood dreams; a purpose that will not just last for a season but for eternity. From chapter to chapter he reminds us that our real purpose is to pursue God. To pursue God is really the heart of true worship. He shares with us the requirements for such pursuit: acknowledging God, obedience, building an altar, forgiveness, sacrifice, praise and thanksgiving, and dwelling in God’s presence.
Rayon has always demonstrated a life of total submission to the will of God for his life as a music minister. He has weathered the storms of discouragement and fear and has pushed past the barriers of doubts and comparisons with others and has come out with a greater sense of the purpose of His gifts and calling. We capture the purpose of it all in this book.
We all need to be reminded of the purpose of our existence; a purpose that is greater than our limited perspective. Let this book transform and change your perspective of worship.

Discover Your Calling
God has given everyone gifts and talents. Some of us discover our gifts early in life; others may discover theirs later. I found my gift early. I began to write songs from the age of twelve years old. My favorite pastime was to use what I had around me to sing and create music. I gathered three empty paint cans and an old bucket as my drum set. I played them and sang at the back of my house for many hours.
Sometimes I got in front of the mirror and sang until sweat covered my entire body. This was my passion as a young boy. I wanted to do nothing else in life!
The words, lyrics, and melodies of songs came to my mind. Whenever I wrote a song, I had to sing it repeatedly in my head so that I could remember it by the end of the day. In those days, I had to rely on my memory; there were no smart phones. We only had cassette players, and I did not own a tape recorder. If I thought about anything else, the melody would leave my mind and the song would be lost forever.
Writing and singing consumed me from a tender age. I wrote love songs, songs about situations around me, and gospel songs. I was not on stage performing, but it was a part of me. I could not separate myself from it.
I started to question God. Why did He give me this gift and passion to write without the medium to express myself? I became discouraged and told God that I did not want to write songs anymore. I threw away the pen and paper and tried to stop myself from writing, but the melodies and words came even more. I was addicted to it, and it broke me; I had to pick up the pen and start writing again.
One day I was singing one of my new songs and I was so excited. I was in my English class at the time, and my teacher was standing right beside me. I did not even notice her because I was carried away. She stood over my shoulder to see what I was doing and saw the lyrics to my song, which I titled Keep Your Feet on the Ground.
She grabbed the paper from me and read it aloud. She seemed surprised and asked me, Who wrote this?
I told her that I did, but she thought I was lying. She said that I was one of the worst English students in the class, and so I clearly could not think of such words and put them on paper. She never returned my song. She gave me extra lessons in grammar and penmanship and threatened to put me in a lower grade if I did not improve. At that time, I thought it was punishment, but later I found out that it was for my own good. God really works in mysterious ways.
Why did God give me the passion and the talent to write songs? I did not know at that time. I entered the Jamaica Gospel Festival song competition in 1992 with my cousin, and we became one of the top-ten finalists with that song, Keep Your Feet on the Ground.
The song was not placed in the top three, however, it became very popular in the Jamaican Christian community. People sang the song in churches, and gospel artists performed it on stage and in North America, but no one knew me or my name. No one knew the writer for the song. No one cared who the writer was. The song became bigger than life. It played on the radio many times in one day. They all loved the message, but they did not care for the messenger.
In 1995 I decided to produce my debut album, and I called it Keep Your Feet on the Ground. My idea was to let people associate the now popular song with the writer of the song. It worked, and people now knew the writer, but it did not change anything for me. I had come to believe that God had a bigger plan. God used me, and I was just a messenger. The purpose was to reach his people, not to draw attention to myself. At first, I could not understand that concept because others were being recognized for their gifts. Why was it so different for me?
GOD ANSWERS US WHEN WE LEAST EXPECT IT
Many years passed. I married my lovely wife, and we were a small family. I started to sing my songs at concerts and wherever I was invited. My passion for singing and writing intensified. The desire in me was not just to be on stage to perform. This deepened passion was to see the songs that I wrote draw people to Christ, to encourage them and lead them to worship God. Over the years, I found that the opportunity to minister decreased. Doubt crept in my mind, and I wondered whether this was my true calling. I asked God, Why is it so difficult? Why are my opportunities so few?
I felt stagnant, as if there was no growth in my ministry. God heard my questions, and when I least expected it, He answered me.
One evening, I was watering the plants at the back of my house. I had a mango tree, a lime tree, and two palm trees. My wife threw out
