A Season of Prayers

Sometimes situations are out of our hands, and all we can do is pray. As a mother of a college athlete, I found myself in that situation. So I prayed, not only for Kasey, my daughter, but also for her teammates, coaches, and anyone who might interact with them while they were playing softball or traveling to and from games. As you read these prayers, you can revisit the outcomes of the games and the 2015–2017 schedules for insights.

Peppi Cooper

Peppi Cooper is a coach, mother, wife, and long-time fan of women’s softball. She fought and won the battle to have softball instituted in Dothan City Schools in Dothan, Alabama, and went on to be the first head coach at Northview High School. She also coached for both recreational and travel softball programs. Both of her daughters played softball in Dothan City Schools and later in Division 1 colleges. Her oldest daughter, Kortney Cooper, played at Troy University. Her youngest daughter, Kasey Cooper, played at Auburn University and for the USA Women’s National Softball Team. Both she and her husband, Jeff, are still involved with softball as mentors to coaches, parents, and players. You can usually find the Coopers either on a softball field or in the bleachers cheering.

About the Author

DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to my family and the softball players, coaches, fans, and family members who have touched my life. While these prayers were prayed over the Auburn Softball and Team USA players and coaches, those names could be substituted for any program anywhere. I believe that our heavenly Father goes with us wherever we go–including a softball field and that He teaches lessons through the trials and tribulations faced through the game of softball. In some cases, the odds were so great against Auburn that only God’s intervention saw them through. I hope you enjoy reading these prayers as much as I enjoyed praying them, and may these prayers be forever as incense in front of our Heavenly Father.

It’s a great day for Auburn softball;) Blessed to be cheering on my daughter, her teammates, and their coaches! Counting my blessings today–still counting–—still counting–-still counting… This is the day the Lord hath made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.

My Prayer

Lord, please give these young women confidence in themselves with every play. Keep them and their coaches safe both on and off the field. Keep them under Your wings of protection so that anyone who sees them, talks to them, has contact with them, or talks about them will have Christ in his or her heart. Amen and War
