About this ebook

Have you ever heard of or seen the Shekinah Glory? A photograph was taken inside my country garage. After developing the photograph, I noticed the appearance of a bright cloud in the picture. It is one of the outcomes of a VISION from God – HIS visible presence. In the Holy Bible, the cloud represented the presence of God dwelling (living) with HIS people (Exodus 40:34-35).
This book tells of the journey of my faith, the significance of Christian inheritance and the importance of obedience to God. This book also tells of how God’s presence showed up in the willingness, unity, love and support of so many volunteers, dedicated to helping accomplish the goal of building a place where God’s spirit would dwell. Throughout both phases of completion, God’s presence was evident through fellowship, the Word and prayer. To God be the Glory!

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Pastor Lorraine D. Lawson (Pastor Lorraine) was born in New York. At an early age, she accepted the Lord as her Savior. The beginning of miracles in Pastor Lorraine’s life started when she was three weeks old. She was born with an enlarged thymus gland in her neck and her treating physician said she would die. Her parents decided to allow her to undergo radiation treatment. Her Mother held her up to the Lord and said, ‘This is your child God. You do what you want to do with her life!’ Since that time, God’s love has been manifesting ever since. In her adult years, she has experienced many miracles from God. She has learned to praise the Lord through the mountains and valleys of life’s journey. Pastor Lorraine has truly lived out the meaning of her favorite reply, I am moving under the power of the Lord!

In 1998, Pastor Lorraine heard the voice of the Lord say, Feed My Sheep! She is an ordained minister and has been an ordained Pastor since 2003. In 2006, she followed the direction of Lord and started a radio ministry, consisting of weekly broadcasts for the Walk-Peace of the Lord Ministries, Inc.

Pastor Lorraine is a retired Registered Nurse, with a medical career that spanned almost five decades and received several acknowledgements for her service. In 2008, she was featured in her local County Museum of History’s Exhibit. In addition to her medical career, she has never wavered from being about God’s business. As the visionary and founder of Walk-Peace of the Lord Ministries, Inc., for over fourteen years, Pastor Lorraine made herself available to whoever stopped by or called her ministry. She is currently doing outreach, evangelism and continues to do radio ministry.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I would like to thank my parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd and Nettie Dixon, for raising me in a spiritually Christian home environment. My parents taught all of their children to trust in the Lord, have good character, love and emphasized that only what you do for Christ will last.

I thank my family for all of their advice and encouragement. I appreciate the guidance and Christian education from spiritual mentors throughout my life. I especially thank and acknowledge ALL the people who labored in this Vision, rather it was frequently or just one time. Thank you for making this Vision into a reality. Thank you for your dedication, love, prayers and support in building and transforming a dirty, country garage to a brightly lit space for the Lord’s Spirit to dwell. The Lord allowed HIS Shekinah Glory to show up in a photograph. This photograph lets us know that our willingness to work on this Vision was not in vain.

    CHAPTER ONE

Introduction: Shekinah Glory, Who Will Tell It?

Then the cloud covered the tent meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out—until the day it lifted. So the cloud of the Lord was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the Israelites during all their travels.

    (Exodus 40:34–38 New International Version)

One day, when meditating on the topic for a sermon that I was preparing, the Lord said to me very clearly, Shekinah Glory! Who will tell it? The word Shekinah is an ancient word that means to dwell or live with. The word Shekinah is also spelled Shechinah and Shekhinah. Shekinah is a visible manifestation of the presence of God! Exodus 40:34-38 tells how the Israelites traveled, walking through the wilderness for forty years. There was a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. This showed the people that God was dwelling or Shekinah with them. In this scripture, these clouds represented the presence of God living with them. Numerous biblical scriptures reference the presence of God via a cloud appearance¹.

    History

When the nation of Israel was in Babylonian captivity, the Israelites adopted the Aramaic language and used the Shekinah word to describe God in the world and His relationship to Israel. Like the commentary we have in our Bible now, the Targum book translated the Hebrew language into Aramaic language. The word Targum means translation. This was helpful in understanding the Jewish scripture, Nehemiah 8:8 states, So they read in the book, in the law of God, distinctly, and gave the sense or insight, and caused them to understand the reading. This was from public readings of Moses law and teachings. The Targums used the expressions, Shekinah of God and Yahweh in a similar way. They also used the Glory of God
