FOREWORD
To be an effective public-school teacher in the 21st century requires more than a mastery of subject matter, a welcoming smile, or a pretty classroom. Teachers today are held to unique criteria which no other career can compare. Tiandra Moore’s journey exemplifies the balance of emotional, political, and personal agendas within the academic profession.
Through a realistic upbringing and an even truer college experience and perspective, Schooled provides a teacher’s fortunate, and sometimes unfortunate, journey to the classroom. Many will learn of how site politics can cripple the most motivated, the most compassionate, and the most eager to educate students today. Through determination to herself and keeping promises with family members, Mrs. Moore delivers an honest response to the process
of becoming and sustaining a career in education. Her unfortunate experiences bleed truth and inspire any who are fortunate to hear it. Her Faith keeps focus and motivates strength and change. It is with remarkable confidence and honor that I recommend Schooled.

INTRODUCTION
This book is very personal.
When I learned how to be a teacher, something stirred inside of me. Not only was I beginning a career, I was able to tap into other aspects about my personality that I didn’t realize were strong, like public speaking, acting, giving advice, and creating tough skin. Many of those aspects are traits that teachers develop as the school year progresses. As my career progressed, I learned other, not-so-positive aspects of teaching that have diminished that stir
I had when I began. This book is a chronological catalogue of my experiences. Not all of my teaching career has been awful, but the negative has been so significant that it has lead to the writing of this book.
I love teaching. I truly do. The philosophy, the methodology, and the practice of it is truly awesome. I learned terminology that seems so foreign even to the profession of which I belong. UrbanDictionary.com defines the word schooled as when an individual gets taught a lesson in a harsh, demeaning manner.
Due to the fact that this book is about me being schooled
as a teacher, this book uses those terms to demonstrate the experiences I endured.
Please have an open mind when reading this book. I realize all of the words may be long or difficult, and even pretentious. I promise these terms are relevant to my points. Teaching can be a fantastic career to have until retirement, for some. For others, teaching can be very frustrating when one expects a different outcome of good works. I want that feeling back of amazement, of excitement, that stirring that I had when I first started out as an educator. Hopefully and prayerfully, this time I am taking off to pursue my writing will allow me the time I need for this wonderful profession to miss me and want my return to it.
I am damn good at what I do, and what I do is educate in whatever capacity I can.
