CHAPTER ONE
Warm sunlight filtered down through the branches of tall trees. Small birds hopped from branch to branch chirping in high pitched voices. Water gurgled nearby as it rushed through a rocky stream bed. A squirrel scampered along the carpet of leaves that covered the forest floor. Suddenly the squirrel stopped and sat back on its hind legs and sniffed the air.
Quiet, Casey,
said a little girl who was sitting on a fallen, hollow log next to a young boy. You’re going to scare away that squirrel.

Casey and Kiley had come to this place four months ago and stopped to eat their lunch inside the same fallen, hollow log they were sitting on. While they were eating their lunch, a blue light began to glow inside the log and they met an alien, mechanical blue bird call Tuttle. At first, they were scared and then they were fascinated. Tuttle told them that he worked as an Observer for the Monitors. Tuttle explained that the Monitors evaluated data collected by the Observers. He said that Observers like him were placed on planets all over the universe.
Tuttle told them that he was assigned to their
