T ahir and Adara sat pensively at the breakfast table. Warm, cheerful sunlight streamed in through the open patio door. Mother and Father had already gone to work at the lab in the interior of their beautiful tropical island. That left the two children alone to reflect about the wondrous events that had taken place in their young lives, but Adara was worried.
Since they had earned their First-Degree Wisdom Keeper medallions, the children hadn’t seen the Golden Ship or its mysterious and kind Captain. Both of them longed to take another voyage. They wondered why the Captain had not visited.
Do you think the Captain will ever come back?
Adara asked.
Who knows? And if he does come, will our adventures change now that we are First Degree Wisdom Keepers?
Tahir could only shrug. I just don’t know.
He questioned.
I guess we’ll find out the next time if we ever get to go on the Golden Ship again.
Adara said. She was the more practical of the two.
Her older brother, Tahir nodded thoughtfully. If there is a next time.
He frowned and shook his head. You know, Adara, I don’t think this worrying is doing us any good. I don’t like feeling this way.
But what if…
she started to protest. Then, she brightened a little. Wait. You know, you’re right. Instead of thinking about what bad things might happen, I’m going to think about the good things that actually could happen and are happening!
Tahir smiled as her idea sunk in. It sounded rather novel. Maybe you’re onto something. Could be that our good things would materialize if we started thinking them,
he agreed.
Adara thought for a moment. Then, she took in a deep breath. I still can’t believe we visited Akhenaten in Egypt, Confucius in China, Pythagoras in Greece, St. Francis and Michelangelo in Italy, and Jesus in Israel. We got to met some really cool people.
A weight seemed to lift off her heart as she realized they had been given a great gift and might once again experience more if the ship appeared.
Skipper, their little dog, barked sensing the possibility of excitement. He pranced over to the table, then started sniffing around, but soon, gave attention to the floor in case the children had dropped a crumb or two.
Tahir noticed, and he scooped Skipper onto his lap to give him the last morsel of toast from his plate. I think you liked Francis in Assisi best, Skipper,
he laughed as the pup licked his fingers.
Tahir looked over to Adara, I really enjoy visiting the places I‘ve read about in school, and weren’t the people we met interesting!
Adara nodded, taking their plates to
