INTRODUCTION
One of the first things that we are told when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour is that our life will be changed for ever. We are told that old things have passed away, and all things are become new.
The Bible says, Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new
(2 Corinthians 5:17).
As a new born again, it is very comforting to know that by accepting Jesus, our lives will be improved for the better. At this point, you might be forgiven to imagine that all the hardship of the past will no longer be part of your life. For example, if you were in debt before becoming a Christian, it would be natural for you to imagine that you wouldn’t have to pay that debt any more, since you are now a new creature and the ‘old things have passed away’. Interestingly, I was actually in debt before I became a Christian. However, after becoming a Christian, the debt didn’t go away as I thought it would. To be honest, I actually believed that it would go away. After all, the Lord Jesus told us to become as little children
(Mathew 18:3). However, as I grew older in the things of God, I understood that Jesus was talking about humility and not about believing anything without understanding. This point was an eye-opener for me and led me to 1 Corinthians 13:11, where Paul said:
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
You see, even though some things in our lives may not automatically change when we become a Christian, it is still true that we have become a new creature and therefore it behoves us to invest the time to know who is this new creature; what he has; and what he can do! In this book, my aim is to explore the second point – what he has. The answer is, an inheritance.
Since the foundation of the world, man has never pursued nothing that he did not imagined. In other words, he always had to ‘see’ it first in the spiritual, before he was able to enjoy (in the natural) that which he ‘saw’ in the spiritual. This lets me know that unless we ‘see’ our inheritance as believers in Christ Jesus, we will not pursue it. For this reason, I’ve decided to write this book, so that you can also enjoy the inheritance that
