    Chapter 1

    Intro

There’s one true thing about life, and it’s that true love knows no color, race or creed. This is a story about a woman’s life and struggle of being a mixed black woman in New York during the Prohibition Era. There’s a lot going on, especially with the Italian mob running the streets. She’s a very beautiful girl that works as a dancer at the Uptown Jazz Club, in order to work and support her elderly parents and younger sister. This exceptional woman’s name is Jenina Gia Louis, and since she is a mixed Italian and black woman, she is highly regarded as a great dancer and singer. Many people, especially Caucasians, love her. But there is one unknown and unlikely person that takes the love others have for her to a new level, and his name is Anthony Ripina.

Anthony is a handsome, well-respected and feared mob underboss to the Scalia family. The love he feels for her is burning inside of him. He’s never even met her yet, but he never misses her show, no matter what’s going on in his twisted life. But he vows that one night soon, he is going to change all of that. He’s been busy because there’s a rat in the organization who caused a raid on their liquor warehouse, which resulted in some major damage; so, he’s been interrogating many of his own men, which puts a strain on his thinking. Thus, he unwinds at the club by watching her show.

It has been rumoured that he has been in and out of jail since the age of 12 for many reasons, and never ended up finishing school. But his life changed when he met his mob boss Joseph Anthony Scalia, who raised him to be a gangster but also a gentleman at the same time. Joe took him under his wing because of his big heart for poor, underprivileged people; but he always told Tony to be Firm but Fair- and he always rememberd that piece of advice. Tony also has a giant heart for poor people, so he always helped in the community; and while they loved him, they also feared him.

Jenina always thought that there was something about him because he always sat at the same place in the club, and she could feel his presence and her heart race
