    About The Author

How Lilly connects with her friends, Grandmother, and new Dad is written in trilogy.

    An Introduction

    TRILOGY ONE

The first ten years of Lilly’s life had picture perfect days.

There was continual love and care from her mother, Sunny. There was playful attention from her grandparents, Stormy and Karl. Then, there was the meaning of love and life from her father, Jim. Lilly’s father had guided Lilly to understand life through her senses.

From tickles to sour pickles, Lilly’s inner and outer sounds were accompanied with funny faces. Lilly’s inner and outer worlds had felt and understood the meaning of sour and tickle.

Lilly had also felt and understood the sheer joy from rolling down a muddy hill to describe, to her father, the journey of sliding mud.

For Lilly to explain her inner and outer worlds, she had begun to use poetry and walked on a poet’s path.

At two events in time, Lilly’s outer world would grab and bent her path’s direction and inner world’s composure.

Her father’s fifth permanent duty station change was something everyone had looked forward to enjoying. The love for science that her new friends and school had, motivated Lilly into adding science as an additional way of understanding people and the world.

Then in one moment, her mother’s loss became Lilly’s unshakable fear.

Sunny was visited by two men wearing service uninforms to notify the family that Jim, a Navy SEAL, had been killed.

Later, the military wrap-around services and support groups were to provide help for Sunny and her daughter. Even Lilly’s new friends and teachers would try to help Lilly.

It was only a short time later that her mother began dating David, another Navy SEAL. Lilly’s anger became another fear of losing her mother.

To prevent her mother from remarrying David, a Sioux Indian, Lilly planned to use one of her elementary science projects.

David’s daughter, Vicky, another only child, would help Lilly. Vicky didn’t want a step-sister nor a step mother.

With unplanned events and a dog named Bella, the girls would become friends and step sisters with a group whose members were Lilly, Oliver, Vicky, Ed Aunt Charlotte Taylor. Together they formed the LOVE ACT.

During one moment in time, Lilly vowed never to forget the memory of her father. Hopefully, by writing poetry, she might keep alive their shared joys.

This second book, in the Learning and Growing series, begins with the LOVE ACT trying to eliminate bugs and insects in the newly wed couple’s rented home.

    CHAPTER 1

Hearing an alarming scream coming from the kitchen, the Love ACT and David ran from the den. Their discussing Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico would have to wait.

In the kitchen everyone’s eyes saw Sunny, Lilly and Vicky’s mother, standing on a chair. David appeared to be the weakest one in the group. To keep himself from falling, David held onto a chair with one hand and with the other gripped his solar plexus while laughing and wobbling.

Cuddles, Vicky’s cat, effortlessly swished her tail while being held in Lilly’s arms. Mom, Lilly giggled, you both have green eyes. What are you so terrified about? As far as I can see, the only difference is you have one pair of eyes while Peepers has four pairs.

What’s her name? her new dad, David asked.

    Oliver answered, Jeepers Creepers Peepers.

Even Sunny had to laugh. The only serious one, Bella, Lilly's dog, sat at attention by David’s side.

David then said, This guest is our home’s new natural, no chemical, pest control system.

Yes! Ed interjected. She is a natural athlete. Jeepers Creepers Peepers just has shorter legs.

Vicky noted, Wolf spiders live in many parts of the world. There are about 3,000 species. Some spiders are as small as a coin, while other wolf spiders are adult-hand size. Her name, Mom, tells one just how she hunts, just like a wolf.

It wasn’t her eight legs that surprised me. It was her eight eyes. Sunny said,

Jeepers Creepers Peepers, is a terrific hunter and a good parent, David grinned.

But, Darling, when I was reaching for a cup in the top cupboard, I just saw shining eyes that frightened me, Sunny said. Also, her quick speed caught me off guard.

Look, Mom, Lilly giggled, you talk about speed. Well, her four pair of legs couldn’t out run your one pair.

Relaxing a bit, Sunny wondered if Aunt Charlotte Taylor (ACT) might make an outfit so the spider would appear friendly, and naturally attractive.

With a wink, Lilly replied, Jeepers Creepers Peepers’ silk is more attractive and effective. When attracting a male, she increases her dragline that is made of silk. Basically, I want to note how Jeepers Creepers Peepers flirts.

Sunny commented that some men placed more importance on beauty. Possibly the spider’s draglines are attractive to a male.

David noted, Today, men also appear to desire an attractive and independent woman who has her own purpose in life. Here are some clues to recognizing a life partner. Be doubtful of boasters and liars. If one side of their lip is more pronounced, that might be an indication that individual is not being truthful.

Sunny added, However, a tight lip could indicate that individual has a secret, or, possibly, no desire to share information. Now, twisted smile equals sarcasm, while a jaw drop is a fake smile. Just be natural; be yourself.

Does flirting help when attracting someone? Oliver asked.

Well, David replied, Princess Diane’s lowered head, that was turned to one side while her eyes looked upward, that subtle, flirt gesture caught many men’s eyes.

Dad, Lilly said, "Aaron isn’t catching my eye when he flirts with me. His family had to PCS last month with his twin sister, Lisa. We Skype to discuss schools and friends. Lately, Aaron has been saying such silly stuff like, no matter what I would say or do,
