About this ebook

In the year 2040 there was a global disaster. As predicted by the scientists, the Great Floods arrived, destroying half of both the human and animal kingdoms. As a result, both kingdoms realised they had to work together to save the planet and ensure we live peacefully alongside each other. The King of the Animals, the Lion Caesar, had an idea. He granted an elite class of New Zealand children some special powers borrowed from animals all over the world. It was hoped that with these powers, they could protect us all from further environmental disasters.
This story covers one of their daring missions as they battle the icy Arctic Circle to rescue a group of stranded polar bears, and catch the evil people who put the bears at risk in the first place.

Author

Russell Browne

Being brought up with animals, they had a profound affect on this author. Appreciating animals is proven to increase our own ability to show more empathy to one another. Class 11 aims to generate empathy earlier with our children, in order to create a kinder world. Over time travelling the planet this quote sums up the inspiration behind Class 11. "Animals teach us the secret of survival: never take more than you give. They are simpler than us and yet the spiritual goals we strive for come as naturally to them as breathing, such as living in the moment, being in touch with nature and loving unconditionally as our pets do, the animals who choose to share their lives with us. Animals have true beauty. They are in touch with the necessity of their appearance and not taken up with vanity. They eat what they need to eat, and delight in their bodies regardless of how they look; therefore, they are always perfect. They teach us the joy of Being. Their generosity and patience is beyond our willful measure. So in this moment, let us pay homage to the spiritual beauty of animals and to their playfulness and joy." -Aloha International

    Chapter One

Olivia sat alone in the utter silence. The only sound she could hear was her own tapping on the screen whenever she wanted to turn a page. Surrounded by the tall wooden bookshelves of the old school library, she snuggled deeper into the large comfy chair and then went back to her reading. Olivia was reading about owls. She was never really bothered about birds, but after the incredible events of last week she had a newfound interest. And owls were fast becoming her new obsession.

Breaking the silence, Olivia thought she heard the sound of cheering. It was coming from the direction of the football fields. It was the third time Olivia had heard cheers today and she figured Forest Hill must be winning their match. She looked at the school library clock. It wouldn’t be long until they’d all be back, she thought. She shuffled back deeper into the chair and began reading again.

A short while later Olivia’s peaceful silence was over. Three nil… three nil… three nil, she heard Rick shouting as he stormed down the corridor with the rest of the team. Olivia sunk lower as she heard their footsteps get nearer. As Rick passed by the library doorway he spotted Olivia, hesitated, and then ran in.

Hey, Liv, have you seen Danny come past here at all? asked Rick.

Ah… no… sorry, I’ve not seen him at all, replied Olivia. It’s all been very quiet here. Why? I thought he was playing in the team today.

"Yeah, he was, but he took off as soon as the game finished. But hey, we won, Olivia! Second year in a row that we’ve won the National School’s League. You should have seen Elliot’s second goal. It was a screamer. We
