About this ebook

This poetry book called My Hearts Desire is a reflection of my love and adoration for Jesus and for the Jewish people of Israel. In 2001, while visiting Jerusalem with my mother, it was in the garden of Gethsemane at the foot of the Mount of Olives that I felt such an overwhelming sense of Gods unquestionable love for mankind and a deeper truth within my spirit that through his death, burial, and mighty resurrection, I exist and truly live and breathe and have my being. Shortly after returning from Jerusalem, I began to be awakened through the night with a stirring in my heart to write spiritual poems. It is my hearts desire that through these poems, you will be encourage, blessed, and touched in a deeper measure of the love of God and for the apple of his eye, the nation of Jerusalem.

All proceeds from this poetry book will be donated to the international fellowship of Christians and Jews to help bring the Jewish people back to their home landIsrael.

Heather Thorpe

Heather Diane Thorpe lives in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, and is married for thirty-one years to her wonderful husband, Alan. She is a mother of two daughters, Stephanie (from her husband Steve) and Samantha (from her husband Joshuwa). She is born and raised in New Brunswick with eleven siblings. Heather as a child had a longing to visit the Holy Land and, with her mother in 2001, made the journey to visit Jerusalem. It was in the garden of Gethsemane at the foot of the Mount of Olives that the desires of her heart began to unfold through her love and passion for Israel. As Psalm 37:4 says, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.”

    A Boxer

In 1947, a boxer entered the ring

    A blow to his opponent

    Had left a horrible sting

    This boxer was our father

    Donald Cook was his name

He was a private in the army

    And boxing was his game

    He danced around the ring

    Exhausted and out of breath

    Each hit from his opponent

    Escaping the clutches of death

    Strong and determined

    To fight till the end

    His record out of twenty

    One loss and nineteen wins

With one loss he made a promise

    Never to lose another

Not in the ring or life

For us children and our mother

    Dad’s career as a boxer

    Prepared his path in life

To protect and provide for his family

    Eleven children and his wife

    When life became a struggle

    And hardship was at hand

Dad prayed in a tiny church

    And surrender all his plans

    He heard the Lord saying
