About this ebook
Therefore, I thought it was entirely appropriate to call my written collection of poems Poema. They comprise over a quarter of a century of my using words to creatively express thoughts, musings, and memories; to catch a moment in time; to make use of words to express lifes moments, joys, frustrations, and even moments of humor.
This is my workmanship in words, detailing my life as a wife, mother, daughter, and Evangelical Christian.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10, King James Version).
Susan Jean Montaperto
Susan Jean Montaperto was born over fifty years ago, in Burns, Oregon, the only daughter and youngest of three children. Her father was in Computer Field Service, which meant frequent moving. When she was nine years old, her family relocated to Hillsborough, New Jersey. Montaperto is a poet, an Evangelical Christian happily married for twenty years-five years. She loves being a stay-at-home mother, stepmother and stepgrandmother as well as being an active member of her church. She enjoys gardening, reading mysteries, cooking, raising Heritage Chickens, all the while living in Northwestern New Jersey with her husband, daughter, three cats and ever growing and changing backyard chicken flock and one very active puppy.

There is a toddler in my house
in many colors bright!
Hair the color of late morning sun
eyes of morning glory blue,
lips of deepest rose.
She wakens with the morning sun
and does not fade until
evening’s final light
courses across the heavens.
There is a toddler in my house
in many colors bright!
Equipped with feet
that fly and fingers that snatch—
grasping, spinning, twirling, scratching,
falling, kissing, holding and hugging
a cacophony of sound and
movement that seemingly
never ends.
There is a toddler in my house
in many colors bright!
A blur, a glimpse of light,
is it a distant crash or only
thunder resounding
from the highest height?
There is a toddler in my house
in many colors bright!
Rainbow hued scrawls vibrating,
gyrating and careening on walls
at all hours of day and night.
There is a toddler in my house
in many colors bright!
Letters of wood, paper and plastic—
ensconced anywhere,
being tuned everywhere,
their melody daunting,
their numbers
