About this ebook
BASE Book 1 of a poetry collection based on a true story. This cultural tale moves through the mind of a young inner-city girl and creatively explores her world before the age of six. This is a story of family, power, racial divide, fear, courage, observation and growth.
Wrapped in poetry, this story takes you back to the 80s vividly. BASE is the foundation, the first six years on which our lives are built. Asking you to examine what has shaped you. Opening your eyes to better understand your current choices and mind set, allowing you to reflect on who you truly are versus who you pretend to be.

My name is Tamara L. Montgomery a 37 year old single mother to Me’Arah Izabel Ennis, my beautiful daughter. I was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts; Roxbury to be exact. Ever since I was a little girl I loved to write, I had such a creative mind. I can remember writing a play that I wanted all of my cousins to star in but they refused to take me seriously, I had to be about 7 or 8 years old. I’ll never forget that, but I’m sure they don’t even remember it. That was probably the first story I ever wrote. I went from writing stories, to writing music, to writing poetry on a local level. Writing is just my gift from God; no one really had to teach me how to write. My Daddy would always tell me that I love too hard, but the truth is, I believe that’s what gave me the ability to make words have so much emotion. I’m an emotional being. Every time I went through something my father would say, “Just write”. I actually sat down several times to write a book but it never quite felt like it was what I really wanted to say to the world and I would quickly dispose of it. It wasn’t until I found this recipe for storytelling and poetry that once finished gave me butterflies. Instantly I knew this was my story. My life has been an amazing journey that has very high highs and very low lows and I’m excited to share it, with the hopes that it might make someone else feel as though they’re not alone or even help change their life. Base is the first book of my poetry collection and this is nothing compared to my teenage years my twenties, my thirties and I’m sure that the future holds so much more. Trust me; I’m just getting started….
