About this ebook

Unfortunately, most of our well-versed, highly educated, scripturally correct, biblically strong, doctrinally true interpreters of the Christian Bible have a tendency in their presentation of biblical topics, interpretations, and various studies to utilize generic terms without taking time to define the terminology so that everyone is on the same basic foundation. This book, Genesis, the Origin of the Beginnings, however, brings out the basic foundational subject matters as inspired by God through men. It establishes the theme and purpose of the whole Bible, shows you why every subject revealed throughout the scripture began in Genesis, and focuses on definitely defining terms such as Gods love so that you will not have to rely on your own interpretation based on such statements as Gods love is sacrificial, unconditional, etc. You will no longer struggle with the question what image of God am I? and the true meaning of life and so on.

You will then, in your future study of the scripture, be able to interpret all the symbolic, figurative, parabolic, and illustrative biblical revelations based on the foundational principles found in Genesis. You will find that the foundational principles are straightforward and transcend time, while situations are not and do not. Remember there is nothing simplistic about the written Word of God, who has created all the scripture to be known to all mankind of all times, regardless of future accumulation of knowledge and experience. So read Genesis, the Origin of the Beginnings and continue to grow in the Word.

Genesis, the Origin of the Beginnings: The Foundation of All
Author

Fitzalbert M. Marius

The author of this book, Genesis, the Origin of the Beginnings, and why his attributes and credentials should be an influence for you to be motivated to read its contents are the traditional manner utilized by us to determine the importance and validity of the writing. However, since the foundational principle that he has attempted to establish in this writing is that conclusions solely based upon human experience and knowledge can only be relative, not absolute, it will be an obvious contradiction for him to stimulate you to focus upon him when the basic fundamentals are focused upon true validity based upon the inspired revelation of the all-knowing, strong, right, sovereign, unchanging God revealed in the book of Genesis and throughout the entire Bible. The author is ninety-five years old, mentally alert, and gifted with excellent memory. He has read at least one book a week since the age of seven. He is an accomplished artist, poet, custom tailor, teacher, surgeon, and cabinetmaker. He is known as the Renaissance Man. He is a professor at the Fresno School of Mission, one of the surgeons who has performed the first open-heart surgery in Fresno, California, in 1958, and has been involved in multiple community services and motivational talks to primary schools, high schools, colleges, and universities. He has been doing workshops and seminars since 1963 and Christian ones since 1970. He has written multiple manuals, papers, and apologetics. He has received many honors and rewards from Congress, California government agencies, and local organizations. However, none of the above has any value unless they are based upon and utilized to further the righteous will of the revealed God of Genesis. Yes, read this book so that you may be stimulated to determine validity based upon facts rather than feelings.

Genesis, the Origin of the Beginnings - Fitzalbert M. Marius

INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY AND DEMONSTRATION OF GOD’S SOVEREIGNTY

Now with God as our foundation, you are now ready to build on Genesis, the book of the beginnings. Remember, the Bible is essentially a book of principles from which the reader extracts applications. We can now begin to present some general information concerning the book of Genesis.

Genesis is probably one of the most important books of the Bible because, in it, one can find the beginnings of most of the important concepts and principles by which men and the world exist.

The authorship of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy (the Pentateuch) is attributed to Moses. As noted in the What’s Life All About study series, there is references to Moses as the writer in Exodus 17:14, 24:4, 34:27–28; Numbers 33:2; Joshua 8:31–32; 2 Chronicles 25:4; Ezra 6:18; and Nehemiah 8:1; and Jesus refers to Moses as the writer in Mark 12:26 and Luke 16:9.

Genesis 1:1 sets the foundation for all naturalistic science, all relationship with man and his environs, all physical science, and all perceptions through the five senses God has given man.

Time, space, and matter is the foundation of all natural and physical sciences and is also the foundation of all thought processes, speculations, philosophies, and psychology. All other possible dimensions are truly beyond the finite, comprehensive powers of mankind and are, when conjectured, purely speculative in nature.

Now with that general statement established, I will like to take this opportunity to bring to your attention the great depth of information to mankind inherent in the very first verse of the book of Genesis: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

The verse starts with In the beginning, which lets us know that something has started, and then it states, God created, which makes it apparent that God preexisted the beginning. Now as the verse continues, it tells us what was created, the heavens and the earth, which lets us know that they did not previously exist, so God must have been existing in another environs, which—we learn later in the revealed scriptures of God—is a eternal spiritual environs. We also learn later in the scriptures, particularly from the writings of Paul, that there are three existing heavens: (1) the material atmosphere that surrounds the earth; (2) the cosmic atmosphere that contains the sun, moon, stars, and galaxies; and (3) the eternal spiritual paradise of God. So it becomes apparent that the heavens that God is creating here are the material heavens of this temporal universe and does not include the eternal heaven. It is likewise apparent that this is new environs created outside of the already existing eternal environs and that it has a beginning. Note, at this point, I have not stated that it has an end since that fact is not yet revealed in this verse.

Concerning the fact that God created this temporal universe, let us human beings know that it has to have taken an intellect and knowledge way beyond the known abilities of humanity to orchestrate the creation of a universe and its parts, which we are aware have complexities of structure and operation that is so far beyond the capacity of humanity that we can in no way internalize the concept. As a matter of fact, even with all the acquired, accumulated information, discoveries, and knowledge of mankind over the centuries and millennia of man’s existence, we have not even touched beyond the superficial knowledge of the complexity of this universe.

Now the very fact that God has created this universe tells us that he has knowledge so far above our known knowledge in order to have the intelligence to create this world. Also, it tells us that, since this complex universe have not previously existed, God must have had the overwhelming power to create it. However, this verse does not reveal that the God of creation has all power and all knowledge. This information will be revealed to us later in the God-inspired scriptures.

Previously we have stipulated that this first verse in Genesis contains the revelation of the natural laws of time, space, and matter. However, in order for material things to move from one area in space, it requires some power and movement. Movement is known scientifically as inertia.

This is another example of the sovereignty of God, who demonstrates his sovereign will in two forms: his providential will (wherein nothing else has any opportunity to invoke their will in any form) and God’s permissive will, which allows for man’s free will and God’s election to use those actions to further his will. Romans 8:28 says, For we know that all things work together for the good, for those who love the Lord, and are chosen for His purpose.

    GOD’S CREATION AND SCIENCE

We are all aware that the naturalist proposes that the Bible is totally religious based upon blind faith and that there is no science in the Bible, as well as that all science is based in naturalism; therefore naturalistic science is the only provable truth in the universe.

In the previous statements, we have established that God has given us, from the beginning, the basis of all science: time, space, and matter. We will now explore other scientific principles and laws found in the scriptures.

Note that this study will only involve a small taste of the vast reference to science found in the Bible, but it will be sufficient to support the biblical tenet that God is sovereign over all things, even over those well-educated, brilliant, sincere, devoted naturalistic scientist and their theories.

Later in Genesis 1:6, God created the principles and the laws of the transmission of material light, the concept of the reckoning of time, and the concept of day and night—but God did not create the means for man to implement time, light, and day and night until the fourth day, when he created the sun, the moon, and the stars in the heavens.

Note how orderly God is. His Creation order is for our sake and for our use in discovering and applying scientific principles.

In today’s educational environment, the direction is to teach the children precepts—that is, how to do something—under the outcome-based-education approach. They are not taught the principles and concepts so that they only know how something works; therefore they are unable to transfer applications to similar circumstances since that requires principles based upon the why.

That was not God’s intent. He wanted us to be able to use those principles to subdue the earth.

If this was not his concern, he could have just as easily simply spoken, and all complex creation would have materialized instantaneously.

Note again that God created on the second day the principles for the laws of hydrologic and the laws of conservation of matter, that is, the first law of thermodynamics. But he did not create the means to implement these principles until the third day, when he gathered the waters together unto one place, and let the dry land appear, creating the seas and oceans and rivers and streams, so that the law of hydrologic could be implemented as the waters moved from the vapors above the firmament to the waters below the firmament and gathered it in the sea as brought out in Job 26:8, 28:24–27, 37:11, 37:16, and 38:25–28. And the creation of the flora (plant life) made possible the implementation of the conservation of matter.

    Questions

    1. How does God’s order affect who you are, your nature, your personality, and your morality?

    2. How does God’s order affect who and how you worship?

    Assignment

    1. Find in the Bible God’s instructions for order in the church.

    2. Find in the Bible God’s instructions for order in your life.

    3. Pray daily with prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving for the order that God so thoughtfully left for us.

    4. Remember the disorder brought on by man’s disobedience to God’s order. Vow personally not to succumb to the temptation to fall into disorder through disobedience.

    IS IT REALLY GOD’S CREATION?

One of the most dominant ideas affecting the attitudes and beliefs of humankind today is the theory of evolution. In brief, this concept is designed to challenge the sovereignty of the all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, unchanging, eternal, righteous, and holy God.

Now you are beginning to understand why we have made such a great emphasis on first building our understanding upon God and his sovereignty. Proverbs 1:7 says, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and knowledge.

Why is it so important to understand and accept God as the sole Architect of his creation? Because everything you believe, everything you do, and everything you think (your religious beliefs, your social activities, your worldviews, your spiritual life, your relationship with others, your attitude toward the opposite sex, your view of sexuality, how you treat your wife or husband, your sense of accountability, your integrity, ethics, morality, behavior, honesty, responsibility, etc.) depend upon how you understand, internalize, and implement Genesis 1:1 to 2:3. (This is commonly known as your worldview.)

Is God the sovereign sole Creator, Controller, and Architect of all that is made, seen and unseen; or does your view incorporate outside help from things, phenomena, or persons?

One of the biggest threats to the Christian worldview is the secular humanist worldview, which has its main foundation in the theory of evolution.

    Can God and Evolution Coexist?

Can Creation by God and evolution coexist? No! No! A million times no!

If God is all knowing, all-powerful, all-perfect, unchanging, and 100 percent sovereign, then God cannot depend on random occurrences, happenstance, or luck. God must be always in total control of his creation.

Evolution is a long and complex subject, which we cannot go into details here. We will give you some simple basics, and the teacher can add further as needed.

The theory of evolution is essentially based on

    1. random selection, that is, change via happenstance;

    2. spontaneous generation

    a. living things from nonliving things

    b. change from disorder to order;

    3. one species’ change into another species;

    4. progressive change from less sophisticated forms of life to more sophisticated forms.

    Question

What did God say about items 1, 2, 3, and 4 in Genesis 1?

    Answers

    1.  Genesis 1:1: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. It’s from a specific cause, nothing random.

2a. Genesis 2:7: And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 2:19: And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

Note: God created the living from the nonliving dirt.

2b. Genesis 3:16–19: Unto the woman said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Genesis 3:17: And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.

Genesis 3:18: Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field.

Genesis 3:19: In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

    3.  Genesis 1:24: And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

Genesis 1:25: And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Note: God created each living creature only according to its own kind.

    4.  Genesis 2:2: And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. No, there is no progressive change from less sophisticated forms of life to more sophisticated forms. God has created his creation absolutely, perfectly, intricately complete in complexity. Good, coming from God, is absolutely perfect in all respects.

Also note that the biblical antagonist also states that science and religion cannot coexist since religion is simply an unscientific system of belief, whereas science is based on true evidence and fact.

However, we state that the God of Christianity is all knowing, and we use a word we pronounce as om-knee-shense. But it is spelled omniscience. If we break it up into omni and science, we will note that the God of Christianity is all science, for omni means all, and science is defined as "the state of knowing: knowledge as distinguished from ignorance or misunderstanding." Therefore it should be obviously internalized that absolute science began with God, so there is no separation of the Christian belief system and true science.

    GENESIS 1

Chapter 1 is broken up into two major sections:
