About this ebook

Script One

Alisa wants to be very careful whom she introduces her children to. She made a plan with her sister Noelle to have her roommate Susanne flirt with her boyfriend, Benly, a little, just to see his reaction. Alisa feels like there is more to Benly because he acts so innocent and honest and thought this is too good to be true. Little did Alisa know that setting up Benly with Susanne would have Benly fall so obsessively in love, to the point where Benly himself made a little plan, and it worked so perfectly that everybody believes him and thought it was so typical. Later, when Noelle finds out the truth, she and Alisa not only kidnap both Benly and Susanne but they also torture them extremely, but it rebounds adversely.

Script Two

No one can predict the moment of death. The usual signs of approaching death are specific to the natural dying process, but not with Jason. Jason, all of a sudden, unknowingly is able to see the deceased. When a woman named Layla notices it, she uses his symptoms to her advantage. When Layla realizes that Jason is in danger and his life is about to end, she wants to warn him, but by that time, Jason is very afraid of her. He asks her to never come back again. Layla left without warning him, and of course, nature takes its course.

    Story Scripts - Shella Lucien

    I Choose You

    SCENE 1

    Late in the night

    Inside a luxurious restaurant

Alisa and Benly are celebrating their one-year anniversary as a couple

    ALISA

This place is so magical (she’s looking around the restaurant smiling) I feel like I am rich and ready to conquer the world.

Three different waiters bring them their meals.

    BENLY

    Hmm—this food looks amazing.

    ALISA

Yes! It does! Well, thank you, everybody! Thanks, guys!

Benly smiles as the three waiters walk away from their table

    BENLY

I would love to see you conquering the world, but before you do, make sure the world knows who holds your heart.

Both start to eat slowly and in small portions.

    ALISA

You always try to be romantic.

    BENLY

Try? Are you saying I am not romantic?

    ALISA

    Eh.

She shrugs, lifting both shoulders with her palms upward from bent elbows. She raises her eyebrows.

    BENLY

    Eh? What does eh mean?

    ALISA

It means sometimes you corny, sometimes you sweet, romantic, and so on.

    BENLY

    I see.

    He sighs. Alisa smiles.

    ALISA

Come on! You know I’m just kidding! You are always romantic and sweet and so on—

She continues to look around the restaurant.

    BENLY

    I guess.

He starts to look at the chandelier and the painting on the walls.

    BENLY

It is as expensive as it is beautiful.

She smiles as she continues to admire the chandelier, the expensive tables, and the carpet that seems to match the tablecloth.

    ALISA

The food is not that great, by the way.

    BENLY

    (Disappointedly) I know.

He puts the fork through his rice and flips his chicken on the plate.

    ALISA

But it is not that bad either!

    BENLY

    Eh.

He imitates the same gesture Alisa had shown him earlier.

    ALISA

Ha! You so silly! You did it all wrong!

Benly smiles as he continues to eat.

    BENLY

Your salad looks like a pretty garden in an old woman’s backyard.

Alisa looks at her food and agrees. She glances over at his food and snickers.

    ALISA

I cannot believe we are spending over a thousand dollars on some salad and fried chicken with rice.

    BENLY

My rice looks like What happened? My chicken looks like Is Jesus coming?

Alisa did not laugh as he expects.

    BENLY

    No?

    ALISA

I mean, sometimes you are funny.

    BENLY

(Frustrated but smirking) Oh my God! I cannot seem to do anything right with you!

    ALISA

Its okay, you don’t have to try to be funny or be romantic with words. I love that you are trying- just don’t stop trying!

    She smiles.

    BENLY

Why do you have to be so honest? You could have faked a laugh, or a giggle, or something that would make me think that I’m funny.

    ALISA

Lying to you like this will encourage you to continue. I don’t want you to continue.

Benly sighs and continues eating. Alisa looks at him and chortles.

    ALISA

Babe, you are what you believe!

    BENLY

    Oh, shut up!

Alisa continues to laugh at him, and then looks around the restaurant again.

    ALISA

They had to have spent at least fifteen or twenty million dollars on this place.

    BENLY

    Seems like it.

He starts to stare at her, trying to get her attention without saying anything else.

    ALISA

I was trying to look for something that was not too expensive from the menu, but everything is so damn expensive! The lowest dishes on here are two hundred and twenty-five dollars, Jesus! So I thought, why not get what I want, right?

    BENLY

(In a romantic tone, trying to get her attention) That was the plan of coming here, for us to enjoy and get whatever it is that we want, don’t matter the cost!

Alisa starts to get a little nervous.

    BENLY

You look so beautiful in your tight, short red dress-

    ALISA

You look so handsome in your blue and black tight tuxedo, reminds me of prom night.

    BENLY

Don’t play yourself! Look at me! (He leans to his left away from the table, so Alisa could see him thoroughly) I am wearing a blue one-button-style, superior fabric, skinny formal tuxedo jacket suit! Come on! Nigga on point over here, baby!

He feels himself. Alisa feels a little embarrassed, thinking others may hear him.

    BENLY

You know I look good, so stop it.

    ALISA

Yes, you do! (She said and chortles timidly)

    BENLY

Thank you! Now! Let us continue - (Both smile.)

    BENLY

(Fixing himself back the way he was) You know, first time seeing you at school, and every day after that, you were always wearing something extraordinary. I started wondering why this girl dressed so sexy like this just to go to class.

    Alisa giggles.

    ALISA

I had to keep myself up to get a man! I was single!

    BENLY

    Is that right?

    ALISA

    Hey, I got you, didn’t I?

    BENLY

Yeah, you got me, but you kept it going! You didn’t stop. Some females, once they get this man they looking for, they stop the shaving, the everyday shower, the hair brushing. Moreover, that thing gets so bushy and hard to find— a nigga could get lost in that bitch.

    Alisa starts laughing.

    BENLY

I thought, if you could look like this just to go to class, what would you look like going out on a date with me. What would you wear?

They look at each other with a smirk.

    BENLY and ALISA

    The same things!

    Both start laughing.

    BENLY

Our first date together, you wore that outfit you wore that time I was trying to get your attention! I was like, "Man! I thought you were going to blow my mind!"

    ALISA

(Smiling) Shit! Nigga, I’m broke! If you buy me a blow-my-mind dress, I will wear it! (Pause) You see. We are both corny together.

    BENLY

That is why I feel like we are so perfect for one another. I see no one but you.

    ALISA

Yeah (she answered gloomily) . . . You know I have two small children, and thank God for my sister and my mom! I would not know what to do. Anyway, what I am trying to say is, we are young and in love. It is so much fun right now! We barely see each other because of work and school. I do have a few more years of school before finish. I have these children think about before getting too serious with anyone-let us not rush this.

    BENLY

Because I said, I see no one but you you all of a sudden think that we are rushing?

    ALISA

    No! Not at all!

    BENLY

We are celebrating our first year together. We have been together for a year, Alisa! The worst part of all this is, I have not met your children yet! You said, I have a daughter and a son, (in a high voice) you show me the picture that one time, and that is it! I understand you don’t want to introduce them to just anyone, but dang!

    ALISA

I know (Heave a sigh) I am just a little scared! After their father left, I wanted to give them time.

    BENLY

Oh, that brings up my next question!

    ALISA

Benly, listen, (sigh) I am not trying to change anything we have going on or make you mad. I am saying; let us not rush it because I want us to be ready for the future. From some of my friends’ experiences, the ones that are married are going through divorce mostly because of financial reasons. I am in school, trying to become a paramedic! I am doing Uber right now, trying to make ends meet! Let me do this not only for me but also for my children! I want the dream life. Unfortunately, only a few of us end up with it. Therefore, I know you asked me to move in, and I said no! Nevertheless, do not worry, once the time is right, that answer will change.

    BENLY

I know why you talking like this.

    ALISA

    What do you mean?

    BENLY

You probably think we are here because I am about to propose to you.

    Alisa giggles.

    ALISA

I was not thinking that at all!

    BENLY

    What if I was?

    ALISA

    (Suck teeth) Benly-

    BENLY

No, listen! What would happen, if I were to ask you to marry me on the night we are celebrating our first-year anniversary?

    ALISA

    I would say not yet.

    BENLY

    Jesus!

    ALISA

I need us to have family time on both sides, spend some more holidays together. My people only saw you that one time, and I haven’t even met yours!

    BENLY

Don’t forget! You introduced me as your friend.

    ALISA

At that time, you were! So are you saying, next time I come back with you, officially introduce you to everyone, it will be as my fiancé? Already, we are engaged! I thought he was just a friend, Alisa! I thought you two just met, Alisa. Blah, blah, blah! What sense does it make for us to be in such a rush?

    Benly sighs.

    BENLY

I was not going to ask you to marry me tonight, so you have nothing to worry about.

    ALISA

I wasn’t worrying!(Laugh) plus, if you think about it, having an anniversary date of when we first met, a proposal date, and a wedding date, are three different excuses for us to celebrate each other multiple times in one year! We don’t want the day we met to become the time you proposed and/or our wedding date and so on. What do you think?

    BENLY

    I don’t know.

    ALISA

Ah, come on! Don’t tell me that you’re in your feelings now!

    BENLY

In my feelings? What the fuck you mean? (He chuckles.) You funny.

The waiter places the black check presenter on the table between them.

    ALISA

(In a seductive tone) Let us not end the night like this. Let us finish this food, go to your place, and make sweet love.

    BENLY

(Looking at the check) Hmmm. It is less than I thought.

    ALISA

    How much?

    BENLY

Only a few hundreds, but don’t you worry yourself about that. You ready to go?

    ALISA

    I was waiting for you.

Benly pulls out a few Benjamin Franklins that look like they could be at least eleven hundred. He places them inside the check presenter for their waiter.

    BENLY

Nah, I’m straight with that food! I’m ready to get out of here.

Both agree to leave the restaurant.

    BENLY

Let us go to your place.

    ALISA

(Giggling) My roommate is probably home by now. I have a Coaster bunk bed in my room, which is not sexy! Your place is better. Not only have you owned that shit, its beautiful! It is so luxurious! In addition, I do not like people hearing shit and me screaming.

    BENLY

Talking about the female awkwardness of seeing one another in the morning? We men don’t give a fuck about that shit!

    He starts laughing

    ALISA

Yeah! It is so awkward to know that your roommate know you was fucking, and you know that they know you was fucking, and I don’t even fuck with my roommate like that!

    They get ready to leave.

    BENLY

That is why we should move in together.

    ALISA

We will, when the time is right. And remember, I want us to walk out of this beautiful restaurant in a good mood. Let’s talk about moving in together another time. Let us talk about love!

She clings to his arm as they walk out of the restaurant. Benly nods in agreement.

    SCENE 2

    Inside a two-bedroom apartment

Susanne is in the kitchen cooking breakfast for herself and listening to some love song from the sixties, wearing nothing but a little blue tank top, no bra, with denim-cuffed shorts. Inside a minivan with tinted windows, Alisa and her sister Noelle are watching Susanne inside the apartment on their laptop.

    ALISA

Look what she is wearing. She looks like a dirty whore.

    NOELLE

Oooh! You are mad ’cause she looks good in them jeans!

    ALISA

Nah, I think I can rock that any day!

    NOELLE

    (Sarcastically) Yeah, of course
