Author Introduction:
espresso Verse
Is a collection of Micro Poetry inspired by a year of twitter exploits. @Krobpoetry
I felt the nature of such a transient medium also deserved to be recorded in a more traditional format. Thus, the book was born.
Readers familiar with my previous work will recognise the emotive style and heartfelt content. However, where things differ is in the way the subject is delivered.
Each micro-verse has its heartbeats condensed into a few lines that, hit the spot
very quickly.
Just like a cup of espresso coffee the tiny size belies its strength as it packs a mighty emotional punch.
Each verse is a quickly written, 10-20 minute, snapshot of thought. Undiluted and raw with little rewriting or adjustment beyond the initial draft and as a result, is perhaps, as close a reader can get to that moment of inspiration I felt.
The book explores the winding subject of love, from its glorious freshness to those enduring scars. Its quick and easy to read, page-turning, qualities make the book an ideal coffee time
companion. Fitting a few perfect heartbeats into the gaps of this hectic modern life.
Although Micro Poetry is a relatively new genre of poetry it is worth remembering only the format of delivery has changed and in the 400 years since Shakespeare the aim of poetry, especially love poetry, remains true and constant.
As always, I hope this collection touches the readers’ heart.

CHAPTER 1
Love’s blinding surprise
1
‘Tis autumn falling
yet she’s turning
slowly to greet me
as though my heart
she knows sweetly
like spring calling
forth a rose.
2
At the roots
she was more spicy-strawberry
than a stereotypical blonde
neither dumb nor sweet
but a tempting bittersweet treat.
3
Her aftertaste brung
witchery spellbound lip-tones
to sweeten my tongue
and sugar my bones,
‘twas more than a kiss
She wanted:
4
The problem with her
double-side-buttered
misbehaving way
was, how could such
deliciously sticky fingers
forgiveness pray?
5
A sip of the divine
‘pon the scar of lip.
Let him kiss and heal
and feel your crestfallen soul.
Rejoice o heart that once was mine:
6
‘Tis the work
of too much wine
that we should covet
another’s love divine.
O fruit
of twisted vine,
have we drunk too much
my Love?
7
Put black hounds
on our rebel scent.
Too late: so bark and scream
for out of bounds we lovers dreamt
to wake in Gretna Green.
8
‘Twas if I’d been cupped
from a stream.
Drips dream, time bends.
Flows the river strong.
You like a song.
Naught ends when love grows:
9
To the wilderness wild
lay love thy mortal claim.
O man of godly seed.
O woman of fertile need.
Grow an Eden again
fit for a child.
10
Fanning pages feign sleep.
She’s falling, eyes closed
into gaps ‘tween words.
A clandestine meeting
with the writer.
11
‘Pon the
