T. A. Gibson

T.A. Gibson is a writer of free verse poetry, and a student of the craft of it. He instinctively seeks the supernal in his material through depictions of essence, the lack of it, and the recognition of what lies beyond.

    Foreword

Azrael literally means help of God, and in Jewish tradition is an angel who separates the soul from the body at the time of death. This will be the ultimate change for us all; however, change is also an essential part of life. Consider your appearance, emotional affinities, mental comprehensions, and spiritual awareness—all of these are constantly changing throughout life. It is God, the awesome majestic creator of all and the devoted Father who loves us unconditionally, who can guide and help us through the transformations of our lives. For this reason, Azrael was chosen as the title for this collection of poetry, as it symbolically represents the agent of change and heavenly comforter who initiates the metamorphic processes, trials, and tribulations of life.

The collection is divided into four sections: The Wisp of Innocence contains verse that highlights and captures the short-lived moments of our innocence; Where There Is No Life contains poems that exemplify aspects of our lives that pass away and no longer exist; Passage contains poetry about the fleeting moments and sudden realizations of life’s journey; and Where There Is No Death contains material that expounds on the eternal aspects of existence that one realizes now in instinctual glimpses, dreams, or revelations.

In summary, it was my intent to poetically capture the essence, insights, joys, and sorrows that make up the odyssey of life, which never really ends.
