Autumn is a book of poems that take me back in a number of ways. It is a mixture of seasonal events, past experiences, and also of aging while achieving maturity and insight into lifes turns and changes. Autumn - Regina Alberty

A Field Full of Colorful Balloons

A field full of colorful balloons

Floats up with the early morning sun

As a backdrop. They bob up and down,

Bumping each other, as the breeze

Blowing out to sea disperses them.

My eyes follow their gentle dance

    As they ascend and spread.

They look like confetti sprinkled over

The light blue sky. Someone must be

    Commemorating a memorable event

Going out of her way to say,

I remember, I care, I will not forget.

    My Leaves Fall

My leaves fall to the ground as they turn yellow,

Or red-orange, purple, and then brown.

They pile at my feet resembling quilts

    Both picturesque and cushy.

    I am autumn.

My azure skies go on forever till they turn

Into slate gray mirrors playing at

Blocking the sun with puffed-up clouds

Bent on pouring down rain all day long.

    I am autumn.

The temperature goes down when I arrive.

You must forget your summer shorts,

    Forget T-shirts, forget the beach

It is time to be cozy with me indoors.

    I am autumn.

I help you to prepare for winter storms.

I make you long for the arrival of spring,

I titillate you with sizzling summer dreams

And as I you recollect those seasons,

I make you want to stay with me because

    I am autumn.

I am of all the seasons the best loved

The most colorful, the one full of

    Nostalgic expectation for what will
