JGY

JGY is an aspiring author from Minnesota. When she was younger, she wanted to become a nurse just like her mother, but she wasn’t too fond of poking people with needles. After that, she wanted to be a teacher, but it wouldn’t have worked because her voice was too quiet; nobody would be able to hear her. In her freshman year of high school, she wanted to become an interior designer, but that dream was knocked down when someone told her she wouldn’t be capable of finding business. Her first fascination with books was in her sophomore year of high school. Everyone was talking and raving about how good this new book was, so she had to see for herself, and like everybody else, she was addicted. After falling in love with books, she found out just how much she loved to write. For a few years, she was lost career-wise, but she never stopped reading or writing. Now the time has come, and her first book is finished. She hopes that when you read her stories, it will inspire you to pursue your own dreams. Even when you’re told you can’t do it, know that you can!

    About the author

Thanks to my family, without your encouragements and

inspirations I wouldn’t be where I am today.

A special thanks to Hun, without you I couldn’t have been

able to write as much as I have. You are an amazing person

with a beautiful soul. There is no one else in this world that

could ever replace you in my heart, I love you!

    The Day

We have something very important to tell you, please come sit down Amelia. Joy insisted.

    What is it? I asked.

You know Chuck and I love you very dearly. She paused.

Yes. I said and nodded my head. Chuck reached over and placed his hand over Joys signaling for her to go on. You two are frightening me. What’s going on? I asked.

I know that we are not your biological parents but all these years we’ve felt like you were our own and I hope you’ve felt the same. Your parents sent you here when you were just a little baby. For your safety they felt this was the best conclusion. As you know they would send a notice once they’ve returned, and although it’s been years it is time for you to return to Gallar. You will always be our daughter, Princess Amelia of Volkin Point. We have taught you well, and now you must leave. Your parents are waiting for your arrival as soon as possible.

What are you saying? I still have a few more years left with the two of you. They said they’d return once I turned nineteen. I practically shouted.

We don’t have a choice; I know you are only fifteen but it seems things have changed. We will come visit once in a while. Don’t worry it is safe now to go home. Lucas and Jael will join you on your journey back to Gallar. You will be safe. Just know Chuck and I will always love you and we will always be here for you. Joy said.

I love you too. I replied.

    (Flash back to reality)

Mel we are almost to the entrance. Lucas said.

Already? I’m not ready yet. I haven’t seen my parents before and I don’t even know what they look like or if they will even like me.

Don’t worry. Everything will be fine. I’m sure your parents will love you no matter who you are. Jael said.

Thank you, Jael. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have you and Lucas. I said.

And we wouldn’t be here if we didn’t have you. But as you know now that we have reached Gallar we must call you Princess Amelia. She said.

I know, but please only when we are in front of people. Otherwise when we are alone it isn’t necessary because after all you two are my best friends first before anything else. I said and Jael nodded in agreement.

We’ve arrived. Lucas announced interrupting our conversation. I looked out the window and saw workers in the garden gathering wood, working on the lawn and renovating the castle. It was humongous exactly like you would imagine a castle would look like. We reached the doors and a gentleman outside opened the car door and reached out his hand for us to take.

Jael whispered, me first and got out. I took a deep breath and exhaled.

Princess Amelia has returned to Gallar. The man shouted.

I smiled and reached for his hand as he helped me out. I turned around to see who came up to greet us and she was gorgeous. I suspected her to be royalty due to the very large tiara on top of her head. As she approached I gave her a little curtsy as did Jael.

Hello there, my name is Anna and this here is Andrew, we are your parents. I know we don’t really know each other but I was hoping you’d give us the chance to. She said.

Me too. I smiled and they pulled me in for a big hug and at that moment I felt like I was finally home. This is Jael and Lucas, my best friends.

Thank you so much for bringing our daughter home safely. Come let’s get you all inside and get something in your bellies. Andrew said. Oh but before we do I have some people I’d like to introduce to you. He said and we followed them to the entrance where many people were waiting upon our arrival.

This is King Henry and Queen Helen of Gallar. We will be living here as guests, because of the war we lost our home and so they were kind enough to let us stay here with them.

It’s nice to finally meet you Amelia. Your parents have been so excited to see you. Queen Helen said.

As was I. I said giving a little curtsy.

This is my son, Ren. He’s your age as well. Ren say hello to the pretty girl. She said.

Hello. He said quickly and looked away faster than I could reply back.

Pay no mind to him he’s always been frigid. Hi, I’m Ashur, Ren’s cousin I live here as well.

Hello. I said and he grabbed my hand and pecked it which I couldn’t help but feel flushed in the cheeks.

Come kids let’s go inside and get something to eat. King Henry said. Katie please take Jael and Lucas to find them something to eat and get them acquainted into their rooms.

    Yes sir. She said.

My parents showed me to my room and said for me to relax and we’ll see each other later on at dinner. I opened the door to my bedroom and I couldn’t believe how big it was. I walked inside and they closed the door behind me. To my right there were five windows covered with pink, golden shades. I pulled them open and the sunlight shined through and brightened up the room. I looked out the window and far out I could see a stone wall and just beyond that wall was the aqua blue ocean. I turned around and saw my bed which was made just for a princess, something I wasn’t used to. Just like the shades the blanket and pillowcases were pink and gold and the bed frame was a dark mahogany. At each corner of the bed frame were poles that held up a canopy like cloth I could close around my bed and on the headboard there was a carving of my family emblem.

I walked over to a door, unlatched it and slid them open and I couldn’t believe how much clothing was in there. I would have to go through this once I had time but for now I just wanted to be clean. So I grabbed a change of clothes and hopped in the bath.

When I got out someone was waiting for me in my bedroom luckily I decided to change in the bathroom. Can I help you? I asked. He jumped and dropped his book on the floor.

Yes my uncle said for me to give you a tour around the castle. That’s if you’re not too tired for one. Ashur said while picking up his book.

Sorry didn’t mean to scare you. But that was nice of him. Just give me a sec. I said.

Sure. I’ll be waiting for you in the hallway. He said and got up to leave.

No please have a seat it won’t take long. I said insisting him to sit back down.

Okay. He said and sat down so I went to the closet and grabbed some flats and a sweater because it was beginning to feel chilly and I didn’t know if we were going outside or not.

Okay all set. I said and he got up to open the door waving for me to go out first. Thank you. I said and waited for him to close the door behind us.

So we’ll start with the ground floor. He said and I followed him down the spiral staircase. As you know this is the front entrance and to the right leads you to the kitchen and the dining room and a few other guest bedrooms. To the left is the sitting room and down further is my uncle’s office. If you need him for anything I’m pretty sure you’d find him in there most of the time. He said and I took a step into the sitting room and admired the beauty of everything. On the left side of the room were sofas that were placed around the fireplace and across the room was another hallway leading to King Henry’s office and other rooms I assume were council rooms or something.

Do you like reading? Ashur asked.

    I love reading, why?

Then I’m pretty sure you’ll love where I’m about to take you now. He said and I followed.

We didn’t go into the den instead we walked around the stairs into another hallway that lead to more rooms. Instead of going through all of them he opened the second door to the left. I walked in and he followed behind me.

"This is our library, our ancestors decided on building it because as they have said before knowledge should always be written down on paper so it could be passed on to every generation after the next. We have tons of books, and journals from our ancestors. I don’t know if your parents gave you a journal but once you’re done with one you can find a spot to place it. Since your family will be living here from now on it is open for you as well." Ashur said.

I do have one. Joy, the woman that was taking care of me gave it to me when I was ten. She said my mother asked her to give it to me. Have you finished one yet? I asked him.

No, but I’m getting there. It seems I’ve had a lot to write about lately hahaha… He laughed and I just smiled not knowing what he meant. Go ahead and take a look around. I have to do something quick and I’ll come back to finish the tour. He said then left.

I walked in the center of the room and along the walls were books on shelves all the way up to the ceiling. At the end or the corner of the room I saw a staircase that lead to the books on the second floor. There were many other books on the ground floor besides the ones on the walls. I thought I will have plenty of time to go up there later and look at those books so for now I will stay on the ground level and take a look around. The library was so quiet that it truly felt like I was alone. I walked around touching the rims on the books loving the way that they felt. All the way at the corner was a little sitting area and behind that was a secluded book shelf. Curiously I walked over and turned the corner and saw a pair of shoes crossed together so I backed up around the corner. I peeked around the shelf and to my surprise it was Ren. I leaned against the shelf and poked my head around it so he couldn’t see me. I never would have imagined to find him of all people in the library. It looked like he fell asleep reading or maybe he was writing because in his other hand he held a pen and his eyes were closed. He had wavy brown hair that fell over his face and I felt like I had to move it out of the way so I could admire his features. He had a navy blue wool sweater on that shaped his broad shoulders well. So well that you could tell he was fit. He wore khaki pants and I couldn’t help but wonder how someone like him would be good at coordinating clothes. Now that I think of it everyone here was pretty good at it so really it shouldn’t surprise me at all.

I took one step closer to look at what he had written down but then he opened his eyes and I retracted my step.

What are you doing? He said tilting his head like a dog would when it’s puzzled.

Uh..um… nothing I was just curious as to what you were writing. I stammered.

It’s none of your business. He said shutting his book and stood up. What are you doing here? He asked rudely.

Ashur was giving me a tour. He told me to look around and he’ll come back. I said. Why do you to be so uncivilized? I don’t understand why you are so rude to me when Ashur isn’t.

You think Ashur’s better than me? He probably went to make out with his many girlfriends that he has. Go ahead and like him he’ll just break your heart. He said almost as if he actually cared.

I never said I liked him.

Yeah, that’s what they all say. He said then walked away.

They? What is he talking about? I whispered to myself. He ruined my mood so I just sat on one of the couches and waited for Ashur to come get me which felt like forever. I ended up not being able to wait anymore so I left the library and explored by myself. I found myself ascending the back staircase. I opened the door and realized I was in the hallway across from where my bedroom was. Along these walls were portraits of people I didn’t recognize. But one caught my eye it didn’t have a person in it though. It was a painted picture of a little island with a wooden bridge and a blossom tree that was surrounded by what looked like a little lake or pond.

Beautiful isn’t it? Ashur asked scaring me half to death.

    Yess… I didn’t hear you coming. I said.

Sorry didn’t mean to scare you. I went to the library and I couldn’t find you.

I didn’t want to inconvenience you so I went looking around by myself. I said apologetically.

You’re not an inconvenience I like you! You’re nice.

Thanks, you too. I glanced back at the frame. Is this place somewhere here? It’s beautiful. I asked.

Actually no. It’s on earth. I’m pretty sure someday you will be able to go there if the person who painted it is willing to take you.

    Who painted it? I asked.

    Ren.

Great. I said knowing he was definitely not going to take me.

Yeah, I’m his cousin and he hasn’t even taken me there before.

When do you guys go to earth?

Whenever we want. Sometimes we go there to learn and some of us live there too. But it’s probably not the safest place to live from what I’ve heard.

    And why not? I asked.

Because, some creatures can feed off your immortality. We may look human but we aren’t and one very important thing I will tell you which I hope you will never forget is that if you die on earth you will be stuck in this repeating life cycle until you can find your way back home or until someone takes you home. Which you probably won’t remember anything and you’ll be stuck there as a human. Just to let you know. He said.

Well that’s good to know. I said looking at the picture one last time before we moved on. You know I ran into Ren in the library. He told me some things about you. I don’t know if they’re true or not but I don’t really know you so it really shouldn’t matter to me. I said bashfully.

Oh yeah? And what did he say about me? He asked.

He told me you probably ran off to make out with your girlfriends and I shouldn’t like you because you’ll just end up breaking my heart.

I see. Well I did meet up with a girl but I don’t have girlfriends. I have girls that are friends but not girlfriends. He said and I couldn’t help but feel disappointed.

Did something happen between you two for him to say something like that? I asked.

I guess you could say that. When we were younger we both used to be best friends but because we both fell in love with the same girl we grew apart. Everyday seemed more and more like a competition between us to see who will get the girl. But she ended up liking me more than him. I blame myself for his icy behavior and rudeness. But I can’t help it if she fell for me instead. He said arrogantly.

Well I guess now I know why he’s rude. I said.

Let’s go, I came to get you because dinner is ready. He said. I know deep down inside of him he is a caring person but sometimes you can’t always believe what Ren says. We reached the dining room and everyone else was already waiting for us.

Darling come sit here, next to me. My mother said which hopefully she was talking to me because if she weren’t that’d be awkward.

Did Ashur show you around? King Henry asked.

Yes he did. I really enjoyed the library. I hope you don’t mind if I spend most of my time in there reading books.

We don’t mind at all. This is after all your home now too. He said.

Thank you. I replied. I looked across from me where Ashur sat and next to him was Ren. He looked at me so I stared back then he quickly focused on something else.

Now that everyone has joined us let’s eat. King Henry said.

I understand you just got here, Amelia but tomorrow you will be attending school with Ren and Ashur. So eat up and get some rest because you have some catching up to do tomorrow. My father said.

After dinner I wanted to go to the library and grab a book to read but since I was going to school the next day I decided to just go to bed instead. But before I went to bed I wrote in my diary like I normally did before falling asleep.

    September 7th, 1015

I finally met my mother and father and they seem very nice. I don’t know what else to say because I haven’t really spent enough time with them yet. It’s my first night back in Gallar and I’ve been told I have to attend school tomorrow. Even though I have already finished because Joy and Chuck thought homeschooling me was the best idea at the time. I’m sure my parent’s didn’t know that though. It’s okay one more year of school won’t hurt me. Ashur seems like a pretty decent guy, he gave me a short tour around the castle and I really loved the library. I feel like I could spend days in there. I can’t help but think about what Ren said to me in the library though. I feel like he may be rude sometimes but maybe deep down inside he’s a kind hearted person. It’s probably hard for him to show that side to others. I wonder what Jael and Lucas are doing, what are they going to be doing now that we have moved to Gallar. Goodbye for now, until tomorrow.

    Love,

    Amelia

    School

Mel! It’s time for you to wake up! We have to go to school today. MEL!

A few more minutes! I said.

Your parents want you to have breakfast before you leave so please get up. She said and I got up and saw that is was Jael.

Where’ve you been? I asked her and sat up at the same time.

"Katie, showed us around. I thought we were just going to end up being the help but the king requested that we stay as guests and we may not be royalty but we are friends of Princess Amelia so we should be treated kindly and we’ll be attending school with you. So get your butt up and get ready. I know how long it takes you so I woke you up an hour earlier. I also left your uniform hanging in your closet come down when you’re ready." She said.

That’s great. The king is so nice to offer that for the two of you. and thank you I will be down when I’m ready. I said and told her to scoot on out of here.

I put on the uniform and to my surprise it didn’t look bad at all. The overall looking skirt was dark red almost a maroon with gold lines. It’s a little short for me so I decided to wear black stockings underneath. I’m also wearing a cream collared shirt with a black tie. I’m guessing I should wear the black wedges that were under my uniform since they were the only ones underneath. I decided to put makeup on and curl my brunette hair and put a dark red bow in it. Since it’s my first day I thought I should look presentable after all I am a princess I reminded myself. Before going down to eat breakfast I grabbed my book bag and headed out the door.

How do I look? I asked Jael. But someone else answered first.

Like every other girl in school. Which is average. Ren said with a smirk on his face and grabbed an apple from the bowl on the counter.

You look great. Don’t mind Ren he’s just being a jerk. Jael said.

You two met already? I asked.

Yes, we just bumped into each other yesterday and started talking. He seems really nice.

Nice? He was nice to you? I asked shocked.

Yes. Isn’t he nice to you?

No, he’s always rude. I don’t understand him. Maybe he likes you. I said.

I doubt it. She said as we ate quickly. We both went to wait for everyone else in the den. Then we eventually left for school.

Welcome to Donno High! You three come with me and as for the rest of you get to class.

Will do Professor Kale. Ashur said.

Now, I presume you know we do classes here differently than other planets. He said waiting for us to agree and so we did. You will be put into a classroom with the same gender but for electives they’re mixed. We have school every two days then two days off again and so on, understood?

    Yes. We all said together.

Lucas you can find your homeroom down the hall in room 117 with Professor Willingston. You’d best be off because he doesn’t like when students are tardy. Even if you are new to this school. Professor Kale said and handed Lucas his schedule. Now for you two, you will be in the same classroom. King Andrew is one of my dearest friends and he said you’d appreciate it. Which I hope you do.

That was nice of your father. Jael said to me.

Yes, it was. I said wondering why he suggested it.

Your classroom is upstairs, room 220 with Professor Vivian and she is also your home room professor as well. Feel free to use the elevator if you want it’s right outside my office.

Thank you, professor Kale. I said.

Yes, I hope you two have a good year. He said and handed us our schedules.

I wondered why my father suggested that me and Jael be in the same classroom. I thought for a minute there I would have my own freedom to be by myself for once. But I was wrong he probably put us together so she could watch over me. Which I still haven’t figured if that was a good thing or bad thing.

Morning classes were a lot faster than I thought because by the time I knew it, it was time for lunch. Where should we sit? Jael asked as I was looking around for a spot and I could see Ren walking towards us.

I was told by my father that you are supposed to sit with us up there. He said pointing to the balcony where Ashur was eating his lunch.

Why would he do that? I asked.

Because, we don’t eat with commoners. He said giving Jael a wink and I looked over at her and she’s practically smiling from ear to ear.

Whatever. I said, grabbed my lunch and headed for the stairs leaving the two alone to ogle each other. Ughh… he’s so irritating. I said to Ashur and sat down across from him.

Who Ren? Yeah that’s what he does best, irritate people. But it seems to me like he’s liking your friend there a little bit too much. What’s her name? Jael right? He asked.

Yeah, Jael and Lucas came with me from Volkin Point. I thought they had a thing for each other but I guess I was wrong. Those two seem to be hitting it off pretty well. You know what she told me? She said that he’s nice to her. I mean seriously? He hasn’t even said one nice thing to me. I said.

Well it seems to me like you are the one with the crush on him. Lucas said from behind me.

What? Don’t be absurd. Why would I even like him? He Hasn’t even said one positive thing to me. Stop being ridiculous. I said trying to convince them and hiding the fact that I was also trying to convince myself.

Whatever you say. Lucas said with a grin. I glanced at Ashur and he seemed to be in an intense daydream.

You okay? I asked him. Do you know Lucas? He’s one of my best friends.

"Yeah, we have home room together with Ren. He said shaking Lucas’s extended hand.

It seems the princess forgot to introduce us to her friends. Ren said coming to sit next to me.

Well I haven’t had the time since we all haven’t been in the same room together. But I’m sure you all know each other by now right? I asked and Lucas nodded. Oh wait Jael you haven’t met Ashur have you? Well Ashur this is Jael and Jael this is Ashur. I’m sure you’ve heard he’s Ren’s cousin.

Yes, I’ve heard and it’s a pleasure to finally meet you. I’ve heard many things about you from the maids. Jael smiled.

Ahh… the maids. Well you shouldn’t always believe what they say. He said while looking at me as if he meant to say those words to me
