Tis Sweet to Trust in Jesus!

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved" (John 3:16-17).

It is comforting to know that Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). This is your and my guarantee that He will always be in our corner and can completely be trusted and relied upon! There is no more loyal a Friend than Jesus Christ in your and my life!

God's Word tells us that there is salvation in no other name than the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:27)! The judgment day will come when all mankind has to stand before their Maker and only those who have been forgiven of their sins will be the Christians of this world. Only followers of Jesus will be saved from eternal destruction, because Jesus has said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). This shows us, without a doubt, that neither Muhammad, Confucius, or any world religious leader or religious system of worship can save any one nor give them a home in heaven. It is only those who rally behind Jesus that will be saved!

Jesus is the Good Shepherd (John 10:11).

He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6).

He has healed the sick, lame, and diseased (Luke 7:20-23).

He has cast out demons (Luke 8:26-33).

He has made the blind to see (Mark 10:46-52).

He has walked on water (Matthew 14:25-33).

He has calmed the storm (Mark 4:35-41).

He has turned water into wine (John 2:1-11).

He has even raised the dead (John 11:1-54).

He has the Words that lead to eternal life (John 6:66-69).

And most importantly, He has given up His life for His friends (John 15:13).

Remember, He has said, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15.13). He was crucified (nailed to the cruel cross of Calvary) in love for you and me (Matthew 27:35-54). Through His blood, the faithfully, obedient child of God is cleansed of all unrighteousness (Romans 5:9-10)!

Jesus Christ is most glorified, because God raised Him from the dead (Acts 2:22-41, 47). Even death was not powerful enough to hold Him.

Jesus Christ is God's only begotten Son, and is now at the right hand of the Father. He has been given all power (i.e., authority) in heaven and in earth (Matthew 28:18-20). He is now King of Kings and Lord of Lords (1 Timothy 6:14-16). He will come back again as the Judge, where the righteous will be saved and inherit eternal life (2 Timothy 4:1; John 5:28-29). What a blessed promise indeed!

Regarding the Lord's history and details of His sacrifice for our salvation, after being arrested, the Son of God, Jesus Christ, was first taken before Annas, the Jewish high priest. There, the Lord was miserably treated to say the least. Annas asked the Lord about his disciples and teaching. Jesus replied to him, "...I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing. Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said" (John 18:21-22). These Words from the Lord earned AN AWFUL SLAP from an officer of the high priest. This was just the beginning of the suffering that our Lord so lovingly endured for you and me!

Second, the Master was taken to Caiaphas, who was also called the Jewish high priest. The Lord Jesus Christ suffered mightily, when he was brought for a hearing before this man. False witnesses came and told many lies about Him. But Jesus remained silent. The wicked man, Caiaphas, demanded that Jesus tell them whether or not HE IS THE SON OF GOD! Truthfully, Jesus confessed that He is the Son of God, that He would be sitting at the right hand of God, and He would be coming in the clouds in the future. Again, Jesus confessed that He is the Son of God! Eventually, this confession brought death to our Savior (Matthew 26:57-68). But we know that this confession is a part of God's plan of salvation for all mankind. This confession brought death to our Savior, but if you confess Him as the Son of God, it will bring eternal life unto you! When you and I confess that Jesus is the Son of God, we are saying Jesus, you are my Lord. No longer am I going to follow my own desires in life. Instead, what you want me to do I will follow.

Returning to the gospel story, after Caiaphas heard the confession of Jesus Christ, he tore his clothes and accused the Lord of saying evil words against God. Jesus was soon sentenced to death for telling only the truth. Here comes the extreme cruelty that our Lord experienced out of love for you and I and in obedience to God's Will. The enemies of God spit in the Master's face and blindfolded him (Matthew 26:65-68). They beat Him with their fists and brutally slapped Him with the palms of their hands. Then they had the nerve to make fun of Him while savagely beating Him.

Lastly, before dying on the cruel cross of Calvary, the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was taken before Pontius Pilate, the Roman Governor for judgment (Matthew 27). Pilate asked Jesus if He was the King of the Jews and He confessed that He was. In the meantime, the Jewish leaders were once again lying against Him, but Jesus remained silent. At the time, it had become a custom to release a prisoner during the Passover feast. Also at the time, there were two prisoners: one was Barabbas and the other was Jesus Christ. God's Word says that Barabbas was
