Linda L. Dawson

Linda Dawson is a North Carolinian by birth. She began writing as a hobby, and that hobby is now her career. She is an ordained minister and an avid teacher of the Word of God. She is the proud founder and executive director of Breath of Fresh Air Ministry, an outreach ministry that assists all persons who have been abused or battered, those who have been disheartened by life’s circumstances, and those who feel there is no hope. She is passionate about her love for God. As a means of reaching others, she is a sharer and feels she can identify with the struggles many people experience in their Christian walk. Her ultimate goal is to tell the world, “Never give up on God. He is real. He hears us, and He still answers. God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek after Him.” For My Good is but a tidbit, a small portion of her life in print, but it speaks volumes about the awesomeness, the righteousness, and the might of God. She is a wife, the blessed mother of three adult children, the mother-in-law of two, and the grandmother of twelve. She is devoted to her family.

    Dedication

This book is dedicated to my mother, Fannie Mae Gertrude Dawson. My mother instilled the love of God in her children through the life she lived. She exemplified what it means to stand by your man in the good and the bad times; she was a servant of God; she was a laborer who worked tirelessly in the vineyard; truly she was a missionary at heart. And to the best of my knowledge, she actually lived the commandment, And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise (Luke 6:31 KJV).

    Acknowledgements

I am indebted to God. I am so grateful unto Him, for He has allowed me to recognize truth. Every storm we encounter has a purpose. Natural storms have their own tenacity; they are neither driven nor controlled by humankind. They remind us, however, of the unconquerable might of God. An unnatural storm, on the other hand, bears no rain, hail, sleet, snow, or wind. It does not rise to the level of a blizzard, hurricane, tornado, or a lightning storm filled with the roar of thunder.

Storms that are orchestrated and controlled by humankind will always fail. Whether a storm is intended or not, its agenda is uncommon to God. So, when we’re confronted with the likes of a humankind-made storm, in time, God sees, intervenes, and takes what man meant for harm and turns it into good.

The storm forthcoming started out subtly, turned rocky, and ended up as a wonderful blessing that propelled the writer into her destiny!

    Introduction

For My Good is a book that takes a personal look at church hurt. Church hurt is not a taboo; it’s as real as the sun that rises in the day and the moon that sets in the sky at night. When afflictions, frustrations, and disappointments erupt out of seeds of discord, these emotions have a tendency to overflow into hurt. And, when that hurt apexes, when it goes uncapped, it transcends into a form of betrayal.

Hurt is as subtle as a mosquito bite; you don’t realize that the mosquito has bitten you until you begin to itch. So it is with hurt; sometimes it is indescribable. All you know is, it is deep seated, it came from within, it’s gradually gnawing away at you, and it has little or nothing to do with God. Nevertheless, purposely and tenderly before you fully comprehend things, you feel as though this hurt has ushered you into a forsaken, cold, and desolate place. Your hurt is progressive and takes a turn for the worse, and now you find yourself in an unexpected and inexplicable storm. The storm is filled with twists, sneakiness, and backbiting, and your name is scribbled across it. Sadly, you find yourself wallowing and whining in self-pity. But, before the storm ceases, you know beyond a shadow of a
