    CHAPTER 1

    Imagination is Key

    The first and foremost tool in your tool belt is your imagination. Now, I know what you are thinking: how is your imagination a tool? That is an easy question to answer. The imagination is your door way to the spiritual realm. Your imagination is what helps you get in touch with your guides, angels, and ascended masters, as well as different dimensions. As children, we all used our imaginations. I mean who has not played the floor is lava or had a tea party with dolls, stuffed animals, or even had an imaginary friend as a child? We have used our imagination all the times when we played by ourselves and with others, also when creating worlds in our minds as well as on paper, and when we paint or color pictures. That was the only way we knew how to interact with the world. However as we grew-up, we had been told that we had to leave that world behind. Sometimes we were told this by our peers, other times by our parents, and other times the situations in our lives made us grow up and leave that magical world behind. However in leaving that world behind, we left something ever precious there: our ability to connect to the subtle realm of spirit; to the infinite source of possibility. But you have nothing to fear because that realm is closer than you think and all we have to do is reacquaint ourselves with it. This is what the first chapter is going to be all about: tips and tools that you can use to open yourself back up to your imagination.

    When I first started this journey myself, it was hard to connect with my imagination because my very dear friend TV had taken that away from me. How you ask? When you watch TV you go into the story that the writer creates for you and you are not really using your imagination, because you are letting someone else do it for you. So what I started to do was to limit how much TV that I watched, and believe me that was harder then it sounded because I had to occupy my time with other things. But what was I going to occupy my time with? What else was there to do that would distract me as long as TV would? So what I started to do was I started to walk. That was an amazing journey all in itself, by just going outside and enjoying nature. This gave me time to myself, which then lead me to see things in a different way and gave me time to really get to know myself at a deeper level. So the very first tool I want to give you to start your journey is to limit your TV viewing and get a hobby. It does not have to be walking. It can be whatever you want it to be such as coloring, painting, quilting, or blogging. Whatever is going to get you away from the TV will work.

    The next tool is creative visualization. This is going to exercise your imagination muscles and it is also going to help you with manifesting, which is something we will talk about in a later chapter. Creative visualization is a very easy process first find a quiet spot be it in your home, the park or at work, just somewhere there is not going to be a lot of distractions. Now what I would like for you to do is to relax and to take 3 nice deep breaths into the nose filling the belly and then let it out slowly. Fill your belly three times with air and let it out. If you feel you need to release some tension on the 3rd and final breath let out the AH sound which will help in releasing tension from your body. Now what I would like for you to do is to close your eyes focus on your breathing and I want you to visualize a tree. It does not matter what kind of tree, just a tree and I want you just to hold that image in your mind. I want you to see how much detail you can see on the tree such as the design on the bark, does it have any moss on it, did you see branches and if so were there leaves on the branches and could you see how many. Now if you are having trouble seeing the tree or holding it for any amount of time, what you can do is get a piece of paper and you can write what you saw in vivid detail. Some people are very visual, while others are not and that is ok. These are just tools to help you awaken your imagination. This is not life or death and I do not want you to think of any of the tools I am giving you as that. If you cannot do any of them, then it doesn’t mean that you have no imagination. Because that is not true at all, it simply means that you may have a different way of accessing your imagination. That is fine, because we are all different and we all have different strengths and weakness. Imagination and intuition or psychic energy are supposed to be fun and not put in a box, so please see all of these exercises as games you are playing and not life or death situations. The next tool is similar to daydreaming but also very different. Daydreaming is another great tool for not only awakening your imagination but also for manifestation. Now a lot of us day dream but most of the time it is unintentional. In this exercise we are making it intentional, so what I would like you to do is just to relax and breathe. I want you to just breathe and not think about what you have to do afterwards or what you are going to make for dinner. I just want you to relax and let your mind wander a little and if you need a suggestion because your mind is thinking of appointments, things you have to do or leading you to stressful or worrying thoughts, then what I would like you to daydream about is a safari. You are on safari in Africa and just let your mind linger on that or if that is a little too intense, then maybe you are on a cruise ship. Let your mind wander to where you are going and who are you with. It does not have to be for a long time, you can set a timer for 5 to 10 min to just let your mind wander into these fun possibilities.
