About this ebook
Avery Visola
Marta is a nana who learned that the very best way to teach life lessons is through a story. Her grandchildren wanted the same story over and over, so she started to write them down. It was a family joke that when the children got a bit loud and rolling around like a pile of puppies, she could whisper “Once upon a time in a far away land” and they would be instantly quiet and sitting at her feet ready for another story.

O nce upon a time, in a far-away land, there lived the tiniest fairy moth of them all. Her name was Gingledorf.
One morning, Gingledorf was off doing her favorite morning thing, smelling the flowers. She gave the sidewalk a little kick, expecting a bit of fairy dust to glitter the flower’s dew.
She always found dew to be so much more beautiful with a little glitter attached. In fact, she thought to herself, most things were a bit nicer with a bit of fairy dust glitter.
She stepped back in surprise to see only a bit of dirt kick up onto the flower. Where was the glitter? She stamped her feet – nothing. She stomped her feet – nothing. She jumped up and down as hard as she could – nothing at all happened. What was going on?
Tiny Wee One, who was off for a morning look-see for fresh leaves noticed Gingledorf on the ground where she had fallen after her big jump in the air. Tiny Wee One asked if she was trying to fly. Gingledorf realized with a shock that she had, indeed, not flown for almost a day.
She immediately got up and started to move her wings. She did not go up. She whirled her wings as fast as she could until they were a blur. She did not go up.
Looking around her, she noticed that the other fairy moths were also flapping around and falling to the ground all over the woods. Their wings had no glittery dust on them.
All around, things were beginning to turn a dull kind of grey. The dew, without the fairy dust, looked just like a watery blob. This was a serious problem and one that Gingledorf could not solve by herself.
After telling her fairy friends to not be afraid, Gingledorf quickly scampered to the house as fast as she could go. She knew just the person to help. Butterpickle always seemed to have his own sparkle, and he surely would know how to get hers back.
In the house, Butterpickle had just finished lunch and was getting ready to play the cello. He practiced every day, and tried to practice his dancing every day too.
Gingledorf told Butterpickle all
