Arreda Cotten

Arreda Cotten currently teaches high school math in her hometown. This is her seventeenth year teaching high school mathematics. As a high school math teacher, she realized that adolescents have not connected the real world with math and feels the need to write children books that do just that—incorporate math in literacy on a higher level. Ms. Cotten has worked as a math coach for a couple of years, and this is when she discovered the need for real-world math in our literacy. She is back in the classroom and hopes to reach children early on about the mathematics incorporated in the reading. The hope is that as they continue to read, they will also love and enjoy math. Ms. Cotten is working herself into becoming a full-time author of children’s books and poetry books (for teenagers). She also enjoys homelife with her son and nephew!
