A Daughter's Journey: The Love Between a Father and Daughter Knows No Distance
()
About this ebook
The daughter did the driving. It was tough, on a time limit, and by no means trouble-free.
Just when I thought my hard work was over, and I was about to go home, my nightmare was about to start.
Heather is an experienced distance driver, often travelling from Ireland to Wales or, driving for many miles in Spain, but not anything quite as distant as what she was about to take on.
Heather considered herself fairly fit because she was a dressage rider and trained at least four times a week on her lovely horse, Ebony Lady.
Heather had not seen her dad in two years, although they spoke on the phone nearly every day, so this journey was a holiday to her as well as an adventure driving through Europe with her dad.

Part I
It all started at the beginning of 2006 with a phone call from my Dad, who had moved from Ireland back to England. He said that he had met a woman from Russia on the Internet and had fallen in love with her. She had been to England twice to meet up with him. And, he told me, she was six months older than I was. Apparently, they both wanted to get married as soon as possible, but the law forbid them marrying in Britain.
Dad took off to Bulgaria to house-hunt and eventually found one in a place called Batovo, in Dobrich County. He returned home to England and, within a short time, sold the house he had there.
He said he was making the journey to Bulgaria by road because he was taking with him all his household furniture, electrical and personal gear, garage equipment, and machinery. The dog would also be travelling in the back of the well-packed jeep. He had bought a left-hand drive four-by-four Nissan Terrano and a very large storage trailer, which he’d hooked onto the rear. He asked if I would go with him for the company and to share in the driving.
This was a huge decision to make at such short notice. I had commitments at home in Ireland with my family, my work, and my horse. I also knew that, if I declined, he would attempt the journey alone, which would be a big risk.
I had a nagging suspicion that this woman wasn’t marrying my Dad out of love. He was old enough to be her father, and he had plenty of money and a ticket out of Russia. I couldn’t say anything to him. He was smitten, and he’d only think I was out to spoil things. This would be his third wife, but that’s a story for another time.
Some said it was a crazy idea, but I always loved a challenge. And despite all my reservations, I couldn’t let my Dad make
