    INTRODUCTION

Heart of a Warrior is intended to open eyes. Transform hearts. And lead any and all into a deeper understanding and relationship with the King of kings and the Lord of lords. It is the very essence of the heart of God. Heart of a Warrior will guide you into all truth and empower you to overcome the darkness. This is an anointed book for the glory of God and the good of His people.

David was a young shepherd boy chosen by God to be king in Israel. He would also be the ancestor of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ. His journey was one of compassion and love, one of lust and murder, war and deceit, one of destiny and deliverance. David was a man after God’s own heart, yet he committed sin, he fell short and he did not live a life of perfection. I believe God has anointed this book and message, that we may glean from David’s life a treasure of wisdom and humility as well as strength and diligence, determination and destiny, thus giving us purpose and continuous progress.

David’s life teaches us how to press forward when the battle looks overwhelming, when the circumstances appear defeating, when life, family, friends and even God Himself seems to have left us in a state of utter darkness. David teaches us how to completely trust in the Lord with all of our heart, how to look past the temporary and see God’s plans and purposes in your life. The life of David guides us in how to walk by faith, to keep believing and how to never give up hope. He shows us the path that leads to righteousness, the path to deliverance, a path to forgive and to be forgiven, and ultimately the path to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

    DEDICATION

I dedicate this book completely and wholeheartedly to my Beautiful Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.

    DISTINGUISHED

I don’t know about you, but when I hear the word distinguished I think of a very proper or prestigious type of person, a person who is of high class or of high standard in the sight of men. When we begin to look at David’s life from the beginning, we will find that he is considered to be just a shepherd boy. Not distinguished but viewed as someone of little concern or prestige. David was just an average boy hanging out in the middle of nowhere. Spending time with God and establishing an intimate relationship with Him.

God sent Samuel the prophet to anoint the next king over Israel, because Saul (the current king) had disobeyed God, he had become prideful and did what he viewed was right in his own eyes.

Proverbs 16:25 reminds us that there is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. Sometimes we make decisions based on a current need or circumstance, sometimes in haste. However God sees the end from the beginning. And though we may not understand at the present time what it is God is asking us to do, we must trust that whatever God ask us to do, it is for His glory and for our greater good.

It can become very easy to view economics, needs and concerns from a human outlook. We are born in an environment that is determined to consume our thinking. Cultural flows tend to try to control our outlooks concerning our wants and our desires from a worldly perspective. But the kingdom of God is first one of peace, joy and righteousness. The wisdom of God will always confound the wisdom of this world. Jesus will never ask you to go through something unless He has made provision to ensure you come out on the other side victoriously.

As it was, God told Samuel to go down to Jesse of Bethlehem and anoint his son to be the next king of Israel. Even though Samuel was in close relationship with the Lord he feared going for he thought Saul would kill him (1Samuel Ch.16).

Sometimes God will ask you to go places and do things you know other people will not approve of. You must always seek the will of God and follow it rather than allow people to dictate your destiny. Often throughout life, you will find that the greater the purpose, the greater the adversity. The enemy will not stand idly by while you fulfill your God given destiny. But as you will see, if God said go-He will make away to reach the destination. Just believe.

The Lord told Samuel, Go sacrifice to me and invite Jesse. The Bible says when Samuel entered Bethlehem the elders trembled (1Samuel Ch.16). How interesting is this? When God calls you to greatness, religious folks will tremble in fear of exposure to their lack of relationship and understanding in the One True Living God. You see that’s exactly what David’s life teaches, is how to have an intimate relationship with God. Religion is based on rules and regulations, while relationship is based on love and commitment. The Bible says that love never fails, therefore if your motives are fueled by love, fear will have no opportunity to enter in (1Corinthians 13).

Jesse brings his first son out. Samuel says Surely this is Gods anointed, but God says Do not look at his stature or his appearance, for man looks at the outward appearance but I look at the heart (1Samuel Ch.16).

The apostle Paul writes in the New Testament that God uses the foolish things of the world to confuse the wise (1Cor.1:27). That is the wise in their own eyes. Worldly wisdom consists of selfish gain and selfish ambition. It may also have a side of arrogance, layered with ego and pride for one’s own accomplishments. However when you walk in the wisdom of God, you have a humble heart of a servant that is filled with gratitude and thanksgiving unto God who was kind enough to empower you with His grace to accomplish all that you have achieved thus far.

No matter what your lot in life has been, what the enemy meant for evil God will use for good. God says I do not call the equipped, but I equip the called (2Timothy 3:16). When God is in it, you will always come out a winner.

Seven sons pass by Samuel and the Lord says None are these, Samuel asks Jesse Is this all of your sons? Jesse says Well there is David the youngest out shepherding the sheep. Bring him forth says Samuel and the Lord says, it is he, anoint him with oil. So Samuel anointed him in the presence of his brothers (1Samuel Ch16).

Do not be afraid to publically walk in the anointing of God. Many will not believe, but you are called and chosen to stand for God and His purposes in this world. Whether son or daughter, mother or father, brother, sister, co-worker or friend they will witness the glory of God in your life. The Bible says from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon David in power and God was with him (1Samuel Ch.16).

When you receive Jesus as Savior the Bible says that the Holy Spirit will come on you in power and you will be witnesses in your home, at your job, when you come in and when you go out. To the ends of the earth you shall proclaim the glory of the Lord (Acts 1:8). The Holy Spirit will fill your heart and empower you to speak boldly about the things of God. This is not an automatic process, it will take diligence in seeking God and it will take complete surrender and abandonment into the hands of the Lord. When you wholeheartedly trust in the Lord, you will never be disappointed.

It is only by the Spirit of God that you are able to overcome the trials of this life. When persecution, doubt, lack, pain, heartache and sin enter into your life, it is the grace of God that empowers you to overcome. God’s grace will empower you to believe and enable you to resist the temptation of sin. When you fall short, and we will all at some point fall short, it is God’s grace and mercy that may convict you but is never meant to condemn you. There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus (Rom 8:1). David’s journey is one of many facets and he will show us over and over again just what Gods ever enduring love is.

The definition of distinguished is to be set apart or to be different. That is exactly what God calls you to do and be. You are different from the world. You are set apart for the plans and purposes of God. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). A one of a kind designed for a special purpose that only you can fulfill. You are The Lord’s king David. Today He has set before you, life and death and you must choose will you be a man or woman after Gods own heart? Will you be distinguished according to the world’s outlook of distinguished or will you rise above and be transformed into a person of noble character in the sight of God? Will you become a person that is easily distinguished as a child of the One True King? Will you be a distinguished child set apart for the eternal Kingdom, a Kingdom that will never fail nor fade, that is a Kingdom that will soon be revealed as a greatly distinguished Kingdom from the kingdoms of this world?

Jesus never promised you wouldn’t have trouble in this life, but He did promise He would never leave you nor forsake you. Be of good courage and take heart says the Lord For I have overcome the world (Matthew 16:33). Fear and faith are the only two options before you. The world, the enemy and even some experience will feed your fear. But the Word of God, the Spirit, the Presence and the Power of God will fill you up into overflow, walking in the security and full assurance that God is good. God is All Powerful and God is for with you and for you. You faith will be as strong as you determine it to be. The amount of time you put into daily seeking God will result in the equity you receive and walk in regarding your faith.

I give you the keys to the Kingdom, but you must unlock the door. How do we unlock the door to heaven? Hope, trust, faith, courage, praise, worship, integrity, love and the greatest of these is love. Sounds like a big order and we could never live up to all these virtues, BUT GOD! What is impossible with man is possible with God. The Holy Spirit will enable you to bear good fruit, to bring forth the character of God in and through your life. You must trust in Him. You must lean on Him. He is for you. He knows how to distinguish you from all the norms of this world. When you put your hope in God, your hope will shine bright in the darkest of nights.

What distinguishes you in this world? Are you Jesus to the least of these? Do you truly know the character of God? Do you know who He is and what He wants from you? Do you fully understand what God wants for you? What is your purpose during your time on this earth? Does your temporary dictate your eternal? These are some deep questions, I realize this. I believe by the time we reach the end of this book God will reveal the answers we are all seeking. Distinguished, to be or not to be?

    DISREGARDED

Have you ever been disregarded, overlooked or even forgotten? Not only has this happened to all of us, it has happened to all those who have went before us. All God’s chosen ones have been through a period of being disregarded. We get a dream or a vision from God, or we think we are up for a promotion or able to conquer a task better than our peers. We are wanting, willing and able. Even with pure intentions and motivations. We’ve received the promise from God, we are certain we have heard His voice, the calling is clear yet we are at what seems to be a stand still. Nothing is happening. What do you do when you know God has a great calling on your life and day after day it appears as though you have been forgotten, overlooked and disregarded?

First and foremost we must learn to find joy and peace in the everyday occurrences of life. For it is not always the destination that is of most importance, but it is in the journey we discover just how great God truly is.

The truth is once we arrive at a certain goal, achievement or destination, then it is time to train again. It wells up in us to seek and pursue the next destination to reach. We are programmed to continually go higher. I have heard it said that the sky is the limit however I strongly disagree, for beyond the sky are the heavens and beyond the heavens sits a limitless God. As long as you’re seeking Him and His purposes for your life, the adventure shall never be exhausted. You shall never reach your full potential until the day you see Jesus face to face.

The word of God tells us that, It is the glory of God to conceal a matter and the glory of kings to seek it out (Proverbs 25:2). God enjoys a good game of hide and seek. He wants you to stop what you are doing and look for Him. Look to Him and then enjoy hanging out with Him. He even leaves the map and instructions on how to find Him (The Bible). Fun, fun, fun…

If you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior then you are a king or a queen. The word also declares that we are a royal priesthood unto God, called to rule and reign in life (1Peter 2:9). Being a child of God makes you an heir to the throne thus pronouncing you a king or queen. So what God is essentially saying is I Am a well of treasure and we all know true treasure is not out in the open for any and every one to take hold of. The Bible says, That where your treasure is there your heart will be also (Matt. 6:21).

You have to dig deep and seek diligently for the things of God. The Word exclaims that the Lord rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hew. 11:6). The deeper you dig, the higher you will go. All the true riches of God are hidden in Christ Jesus. Jesus is
