As she holds her lil sisters close in her arms and listen as screams of her mother go thru her ears. Glass breaking, loud pleading of no’s and stops as the final sound she hear is her mother’s batter body hitting the ground as everything goes silent! Watching the tears run down my 5 n 7 year old sisters’ eyes hurt my heart to know they had to live like this.

I know you’re wondering what’s going on so I’m going to knock this book back a little and head to the beginning.

Ta’Leahya Quinn thought life couldn’t get any better. Living in the ghetto projects with her mom and 2 lil sisters. But lil did she know leahya was about to have a whole turn around she never did see coming.

CHAPTER 1

The beginning

Ta’Leahya Quinn at 19 had a body that turned heads. Chocolate covered skin, light brown eyes, coke bottle shape, and hair down the middle of her back. Every bitch in Oak Park projects envy her. An honor roll 4.0 graduate had her hopes of going to college and getting her sisters’ out the hood but things didn’t go as planned. As she walked around with a lot on her mind she couldn’t help but look at all the ass walking around. (Oh by the way did I mention she bisexual lol.) As she waited for her lil sisters’ bus to arrive she called her girlfriend.

Hey Amanda baby how are you, says leahya.

Pause……..

At the bus stop waiting on jazzy and court.

Pause…….

"When you coming to see me because we barely see each other nor talk. What’s going on?

Pause……..

Oh well I got to go I’ll talk to you later.

Jazzy and court get off the bus and run to their sister

Hey lil ladies how was school?

It was fun, replied court.

Yea you won’t be saying that when you get in the 2nd grade and it was not that interesting sis, says jazzy.

"Well jazzy court still in kindergarten so it may be fun to her and by the way school isn’t meant to be fun that’s a place to get your education so you can get up outta here lil sis, leahya tell her lil sister.

As we walk home I regret my lil sisters have to see the daily drama and crazy shit this place have to offer. Gambling, guns, gangs, sex and so much more. I just pray we make it out this hell hole we call home. We walk into the house to see my mom sleep on the couch and her boyfriend watching TV.

I ask jazzy n court are they hungry and if they had homework. As I go to the fridge and open it I see once again it’s nothing in this house to feed them. I instantly get pissed and storm into the living room, where my mother is sleep.

I shake her awake…..

Why the hell isn’t there anything in this house to feed them screams leahya?

My mom try to explain before I cut her off………

Don’t tell me your dumb ass sold the food stamps to cater to this cheap wanna be bf of yours?

At this point I’m ready to sucker punch her in the mouth

"Don’t you ever talk to me like that again or you want have a place to lay that pretty lil head of yours, says mom.

Talk to you like how, I reply by telling you your 2 daughters are hungry and there’s nothing to eat in this house. You’ll sell them to please and keep a nobody happy instead of feeding your kids. How fucking ignorant is that.

I go back into the kitchen to get jazzy and court and leave. I hit up my bff amber and tell her I’m on my way.

Now me and amber been cool since grade school. Her pops n mines where close back then. My pops got caught cheating on my mom with her best friend. It broke her heart and that’s how we ended up here. Smh but enough with that. Amber was always used to the fast life getting money was always on her mind growing up and I guess it paid off. She had money for days. No matter what she did she will always be my bestie. When we make it to amber house she give me a hug and kiss. I ask her to make the girls a sandwich and chips while I make a couple phone calls. When I return amb pull me to the side.

Tha come up

The next morning I wake up and get jazzy n court dressed. One thing I loved about my bestie she always keep the girls and me some clothes and shoes at her house. Court wanted to put on her Minnie mouse jump suit while jazzy put on her Jorden out fit with her blue n purple Jorden’s. We get in amb impala and I took them to school.

After dropping them off I head to my mom’s house. The pjs pumping as usual I swear ppl don’t sleep. As I walk thru lil mama Tasha stop me.

Yo leahya you know yo mom n pops got into a fight again.

Tasha that ain’t my pops shorty, who left in the ambulance?

They say yo moms was hurt badly, had to go to the ER.
