Africa’S Priceless Heritage
()
About this ebook
Does the course pronounced to Canaan by Noah as recorded in Genesis 9 have any impact on Africa today? What did it really imply then and thereafter? What does appreciating ones identity and heritage affect his/her bearing in life as a whole? These and some other related pertinent questions need answers today.
Therefore, in this book, Clifford Chaukura tries to elaborate such historical, theological, and philosophical matters as he takes pains to dispel some myths that have hampered the progress of the gospel work for centuries now.

DEDICATION
This book is dedicated with utmost passion to Wadzanayi Chaukura, my wife of twenty three years now. She is truly a priceless gift from the almighty God, a partner who propels me to hit success levels beyond my human imagination. I also dedicate this book to my three children, Sharon, Mercy and Ngonidzashe. These have assisted me to understand the dynamism of parenting in a turbulent socio-economic environment.
Finally I want to dedicate this valuable present to my varied readers who have enjoyed my other works which are selling on the market.
FOREWORD
There is a myth that has kept many Africans at bay in terms of unleashing their personal potential in all the spheres of life. This has also paralyzed many as it has kept the Black Community from fully appreciating its rich heritage over the years. This myth is attributed (by its perpetrators) to the curse pronounced on Canaan by his grandfather, Noah (Gen 9:25). Since the Bible is definitely the Word of God and the standard by which all nations determine the truth we will begin from there and refer to its messages in many instances. The Bible teaches that it is only the truth which has a unique capacity to set humanity free (John 8:32).
It is my hope that all those who take time to read this book will be greatly enriched by the evidence of wide research which reveals the African’s place in the great plan of God.
This work must be viewed as one of many attempts to put the myth to rest so that we all view all races as God views them. Spiritual assessment carry great weight in any culture hence it is of vital importance that Africa assesses itself on the basis of the Holy Bible and not on hearsay.
Clifford Chaukura.

INTRODUCTION
Some philosophers and theologians have been teaching the world that the Black pigmentation on the African skin was as a result of Ham being cursed by his father, Noah and consequently turning black, implying that Ham was originally white-skinned. Understandably, the Bible speaks about God’s curse on Miriam, Naaman, Gehazzi and Uzziah who subsequently turned leprous- white, implying that their skin was not white at all before they were cursed (Numb 12:1-15; 2 Kings 5: 1-27; 15:5).
While race and culture plays a major role in linking any people with their past so as to proceed knowledgeably into the future, the history of one’s race and culture can not by themselves suffice to authenticate one’s self. The Bible is therefore the most authentic textbook to be used to reveal the identity of each tribe and race on earth. The Bible truly is the primary source for legitimate identity as it fulfils this function without prejudice or bias. There is however enough room for archeology to satisfy the desire to know the actual location of a site mentioned in the Bible. In this case when all the research data agree, all including the Biblical evidence and the extra-Biblical documents then the basis to establish the truth would have been fully laid down.
For instance, there is no trace of the ancient name, Megiddo, but the location is certain and was confirmed beyond doubt by excavation. Sometimes the text of the Bible does not provide enough information about the location of a town, then it is the prerogative of the geographer to research elsewhere, in documents contemporary with, or later than the biblical account. One very important work is that of Egyptian Pharaohs who recorded lists of captured towns, diligently compiled by chroniclers who accompanied these Pharaohs of the new empire on their expeditions. Thothmes 111 listed one hundred and eighteen Canaanite towns
