We intended to present some questions many voodooists posed about voodoo and to transmit objective responses through AFRO-CHRISTIANO-HAITIANO-Voodoo (A. C. H. V.). One aimed at confirming the responses with studies conducted and empirical data; honoring voodooists who did not question voodoo. One worked to sustain the faith of those persons and to perpetuate the words of God.
One aimed at proving that God exists. This specially came to be more important when I heard on the radio (U. S. A.) most "baby boomers" asked whether God existed or not; if they have worked on Earth in vain.
Here, one planed to honor the major and minor spirits.
My work differs from the books of DOKTOR Snake (VOODOO SPELLBOOK) and Mrs. Denise Alvarado (THE VOODOO HOODOO SPELL BOOK). In their books, they paid attention to spells. I paid attention to spells and other matters in my book. Mrs. Catherine YRONWODE's work entailed herb and root virtues or their inclusion in magic. (The title of her book is HOODOO HERB AND ROOT MAGIC.) I paid attention to magic and other matters in book. Mr. Milo RIGAUD's SECRETS OF VOODOO dealt with secrets of voodoo. Mine did not.
I included hundreds of lyrics to voodoo songs in my work and they, at the very least, render it unique.

He was admitted at Miami International University to pursue graduate studies. In 1993, anomalies forced him to abandon the health allied field. God, the Major Spirits, Small Business Administration Representatives helped him find alternative careers in music and writing—which offer "reasonable accommodation*."###SYNOPSISSome Library of Congress Representatives placed AFRO-CHRISTIANO-HAITIANO-Voodoo (A. I dedicate this eBook to: Good-God, the major and minor spirits; my mother and all other relatives of mine; my late wife and son; all the interviewees, the Good-Samaritans and the biblical neighbors who helped me realize this written project. To all Haitians, happy second century of independence!

    Preface

For reason of security, I omitted the real names of the INTERVIEWEES but revealed those of the authors and activists.

In 1960, one heard the word voodoo for the first time and decided to gather information about it. Later on, one discovered Mr. John S. M’ BITY called for interdisciplinary co-operation between historians; incomplete knowledge on African religions makes it impossible to describe their histories¹. I also learned from Mr. M’ BITY African religions transmit some historical events².

I interviewed 32,000 persons between 1971 and 1993, both sexes, between eighteen and ninety-eight years old, different economic backgrounds, academically and non-academically trained. I worked in numerous laboratories between 1983 and 1993 and received approximately twenty patients per day, five days a week, and fifty weeks per year. Many patients questioned me on voodoo and I questioned them.

One also worked as a volunteer-associate priest between 1971 and 1993. I received—Monday through Saturday, after school or working in the laboratory—for the head priest around fifty clients per week, fifty weeks per year.

In the text, I inserted the speeches one heard; included the persons who delivered these speeches; and referred to the speech deliverers as INTERVIEWEES.

Mr. C. H. Dodd Peters said, "A tradition may undergo alteration or distortion in the course of long transmission by word-of-mouth…. When written… stands substantially unaltered … test and control it by a careful and critical study of the documents which caught and fixed it at the earliest accessible stage of development³."

In order to prevent alteration or distortion, one put in writing some of the elements found in voodoo (i.e., songs, prayers, tales, etc) that initiates and non-initiates heard. In passing, one intended not to reveal any secrets initiates kept.

We strived to come to call voodoo AFRO-CHRISTIANO-HAITIANO. This project became important to me after learning from several sources some people have been looking for anti-Christ elements to destroy them. I planned to make necessary repairs.

We intended to present some questions many voodooists posed about voodoo and to transmit objective responses through AFRO-CHRISTIANO-HAITIANO (A. C. H.). One aimed at confirming the responses with studies conducted and empirical data; honoring voodooists who did not question voodoo. One worked to sustain the faith of those persons and to perpetuate the words of Good-God.

One aimed at proving that Good-God exists. This specially came to be more important when I heard on the radio (U. S. A.) most baby boomers asked whether Good-God existed or not; if they have worked on Earth in vain.

Here, one planned to honor the major and minor spirits and to prepare the reader (s) for the elements that appeared in part II of the eBook such as prayers, lyrics, sacred drawings, etc.

My work differs from the books of DOKTOR Snake (VOODOO SPELLBOOK) and Mrs. Denise Alvarado (THE VOODOO HOODOO SPELL BOOK). In their books, they paid attention to spells. I paid attention to spells and other matters in my book. Mrs. Catherine YRONWODE’s work entailed herb and root virtues or their inclusion in magic. (The title of her book is HOODOO HERB AND ROOT MAGIC.) I paid attention to magic and other matters in book. Mr. Milo RIGAUD’s SECRETS OF VOODOO dealt with secrets of voodoo. Mine did not.

I included hundreds of lyrics to voodoo songs in my work and they, at the very least, render it unique.

On the matter of images, the Ten Commandments sent: "You will not carve images for yourself (Exodus 19: 20)⁴. ‘’ I believed this law referred to images Israelites carved for themselves to idolize. One held this belief because Good-God destroyed the Israelites who formed themselves a golden calf to idolize (Exodus 32: 4)⁵. Therefore, I decided to use images but not as idols.

    Jesus Christ of Nazareth:

"The Father has many faces…. Which one would you say is His? ... Therefore, I came so that you hold a picture of Him by looking at me…. You come to know Him by seeing my face ⁶."

Therefore, I decided to use images here.

The foreign names/words—as well as those formed—were written in capital letters in order to eliminate confusion for the reader. In the surveys conducted, one determined a percentage of error of plus/minus two.

    CHAPTER I

    Introduction

In 1960, I first heard the word voodoo from Mrs. VELINATOCHO BREEDYE and Ms. MAGDELINE VALCIMJEL—who listened to sounds of drums and singing and said these elements belonged in voodoo.

In 1963, I saw a voodoo ceremony for the first time…. I saw followers who served as media to the major spirits. The years that followed brought meetings/interviews with major spirits, voodooists and non-voodooists—about voodoo. I met and interviewed some humans who had been through near-death experiences. The years that followed brought meetings with many people who delivered speeches on voodoo and some social laws throughout the streets of Port-au-Prince. We learned from them—the major spirits and voodooists/non-voodooists—about werewolf, people who "bought spirits or powers used to harm others." … We learned from them everyone would come to know the crimes children, young adults and adults commit on the streets. I met some major spirits who taught philosophy, sociology, hygiene, logic, biology, astronomy, astrology, etc to voodooists and non-voodooists around them. They perpetuated the words of Good-God and biblical quotes; asked us (again) not to buy spirits or evil powers. These major spirits asked questions—but they already knew the responses. These spirits remedied the sick; brought to voodooists and non-voodooists around them news about relatives/close friends who lived in the provinces or on foreign lands. They prophesied and consoled the persons who needed it. The majority of the people in my neighborhood sang voodoo songs—I began to sing them also. We heard many voodoo songs on most of the radio and television stations. Most people encountered believed in voodoo.

In 1970, July 16, my audience, for the most part, came to place more emphasis on facts. All persons interviewed regarded the matter of existence of Good-God of great significance. I paid respect to these important elements in chapter 2. I determined the essence of voodoo in chapter 3 to come to label it. Many persons interviewed questioned the rules and regulations, the beliefs and rituals we found in voodoo. Therefore, one paid respect to these components in chapter 4. Many people encountered referred to the major and minor spirits as rebellious angels. We looked to see if labeling major and minor spirits as non-rebellious angels rendered them justice. Factor we considered in chapter 5.

    Some people asked:

What gives some voodooists the right to label voodoo: branch of Christianity?

Question I answered in chapter 6.

Some believed in non-universality of HAITIANO-VOODOOISM. Subject I discussed in chapter 7.

Finally, in chapter 8, we listed most of the prayers; songs’ lyrics, their rhythms; some sacred drawings and images I encountered in voodoo.

    CHAPTER II

    The Existence of God

Zen informed the intellect (an immaterial power) knows Good-God exists but it cannot know the essence of the Lord. Transcend the intellect to come to define The Supreme Being⁸. Some Homo sapiens—via transcendence—came to know the essence of Good-God: The Creator; Being Who Lives Eternally⁹; The Most Perfect Being¹⁰. Mr. MESMIN Gabriel reported inquiries proved the word ETHIEH typifies HIE (term from Benin) and the latter signifies DIEU(in French)—which means EHIE in Judaism¹¹. In Haitian Creole, DIEU intends BONDYE. Voodooists contacted, or listened to, employed synonyms as Creator of the Universe, The Great Master and The Ultimate Judge in the Sky. Surprisingly, these words resemble those that appeared in Mr. John S. M’ BITY’s book¹² for instance Supreme Being, Almighty, Creator, Divine, Lord, Maker, Jehovah, JAHVEY.

The Old Testament transmits numerous names for Good-God (or God): JAHWEH, WAHVEY, Jehovah, YAHVE, YAHWE, "YAHWEH¹³." Here, Good-God designates God, Creator, Being-Who-Lives-Eternally, The-Most-Perfect-Being. One believes YAHVE lives. Why do I hold this belief? (a) Statements heard triggered this trust in the existence of Good-God. (b) Prayer heard; (c) diversified quotes read; (d) deductive reasoning; (e) non-deductive reasoning—all increased my belief in the existence of Good-God.

(A). In 1960, one heard statements such as the Lord exists; answers prayers; created the universe; sees and records the acts beings commit; ultimately, judges humans; can hold the Milky Way in the palm of His hand (form C, composed of organic and non-organic substances); personifies lightning (shape D); inspiration equates the purest configuration of Good-God. Such dictums precipitated my belief in the existence of Good-God.

Voodoo prayer propagates (element of anthology):

"OUI DIEU—OUI DIEU, OUI DIEU—JE CROIS QUE DIEU EST EN PLACE. JE CROIS QUE LES MYSTÈRES SONT EN PLACE. JE CROIS QUE TOUT EST EN PLACE. OH, DIEU, ÈCOUTEZ MA PAROLE ! EXHAUSSEZ MES PRIÈRES. SEIGNEUR, JE VOUS PRIE D’ENVOYER L’ÉTOILE DE L’AFRIQUE GUINÉEN¹⁴ VENIR CAUSER AVEC MOI DURANT LA NUIT, DEPUIS ICI, JUSQU’À L’AFRIQUE GUINÉEN. CEUX QUI FONT BIEN, C’EST BIEN, ILS VERRONT DIEU. SEIGNEUR, VOUS AVEZ MIS DEUX CHEMINS. CHACUN A LE DROIT DE PRENDRE LA ROUTE QUI LUI FAIT PLAISIR; SANS QUE L’UN NE DROIT DÉTOURNER L’AUTRE DE SES AFFAIRES¹⁵."

Translation: Yes, I believe Good-God, the spirits, and all living things occupy space; and live in particular place. Oh, Lord, listen to my word! Answer my prayers. Lord, J. C. N., I pray to you. Send the Star of Guinea to converse with me, at night, while I sleep— from here to Guinea. The ones who commit good acts, they continue. Compliments, The good acts enable you to see Good-God. J. C. N., you constructed two roads. Each person can choose the path that appeals to him (her). No one holds the right to deter the other from his/her affairs.

The preceded prayer increased my belief in the existence of Good-God.

    (B). Different quotes I read:

"God is the Great Master mind behind the creation of the universe and man. … Laws of nature … God created. … God created the universe out of nothing in an act, which also brought time into existence¹⁶."

".. . The history of God and that of humans, African peoples, differ¹⁷."

".. . God possesses a body but unlike ours. … God lives as a Spirit. … His mode of life, call it superior to that of humans. … God lives in the sky, but can see all activities taking place on Earth. … No man saw The Creator in the past or sees God today¹⁸.

These foreran, diversified quotes intensified my belief in the existence of Good-God.

In passing, the Bible transmits "day of redemption draws near¹⁹. ...When you hear of wars and commotions, they must come to pass²⁰…. Nations will rise against each other, and kingdom against kingdom²¹ .… There will be great earthquakes in various places, famines and pestilences, fearful sights and great signs from heaven²²…. Parents will betray their children, brothers, relatives and friends²³….

These are the days of vengeance, that all things, which are written, may be fulfilled²⁴…. There will be signs in the sun, the moon and the stars; there will be distress on the Earth and nations and perplexity; then, they will see the Son-of-Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory²⁵…. That, the day of glory of God is near²⁶." All Christians encountered began to hear of wars, commotions, nations rising against each other and kingdom against kingdom. These Christians began to hear/experience of great earthquakes in various places, famines and pestilences. They experienced fearful sights and great signs in heaven. They heard/experienced betrayal from parents, brothers, relatives and friends. These servants of Good-God heard/observed signs in the sun, the moon and the stars. They concluded the day of redemption draws near, the days of
