    Theme

The universal message of this book is the verses from Isaiah 26:3 – 4 concerning Perfect Peace. This is the distinct and unifying composition of this book with the subtitle Prayer.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength. Isaiah 26:3-4 KJV

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal. Isaiah 26:3-4 NIV

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock. Isaiah 26:3-4 NLT

Remember, we learnt from Isaiah 26:3-4, Perfect Peace ~ The Last Single-Digit that Bible translations fall into three categories? They are Formal Equivalence, Functional Equivalence, and Paraphrase.

Formal Equivalence is translating words by finding reasonable words and phrases that have equal value, or meaning; while following the source language as closely as possible. This style is often referred to as Literal Translation or Word-for-Word Translation. Some of the Formal Equivalence translations in English are KJV, ASV, ERV, NASB, ESV, and AMP.

Functional Equivalence is sometimes called Dynamic Equivalence or Thought–for–Thought Translation. It is a translation process in which the translator(s) attempts to reflect and focus on the thought of the writer in the source language rather than the word-for-word translation.
