INTRODUCTION
Curse of Zyanya is the sequel to the Harrington Curse as the Criminal World reporters return to investigate further activities with the cursed mirrors. This time they discover the origins of the mirrors and with danger and strange phenomenons round every corner. Ruth Ashley the psychiatric nurse is invited back to help with enquiries as Fiona and Harrison investigate a strange murder. While Samantha and Elliot travel to Spain delving into families past also linked to the mystery of the cursed mirrors. As the story unravels the team of crime reporters find themselves deeply involved in Aztec history, as a vengeful witch called Zyanya proves to be more than a match for them leading to deadly consequences. Harrison is also in danger as he meets a descendant of Zyanya called Christina who is a sadomasochist and performs strange sexual acts in order to prove her dominant personality.
ORIGINS
I n New York a family had recently moved into a new home, Steve and Julie Fierro were very happy designing each room in a classic Spanish style based on Steve’s ancestral home back in Spain. But the most exciting feature was the mirror that was exported from Mexico; this resembled a mirror that his Great Uncle had in his home which was also exported from Mexico based on an Aztec design from around 1538.
When the parcel arrived Julie got really excited and tore open the package she revealed a large beautifully decorated mirror based on the obsidian style. This was once considered a ‘smoking mirror’ going back to the Aztec people who perfected such mirrors back in the 14th century. Julie hung it proudly on her wall in the hall so that everyone entering the house would see it. All was well until night time when the mirror came to life, what followed was a complete nightmare for Steve and Julie.
One stormy night the same day that the mirror arrived Steve and Julie were lying in bed when they heard the sound of breaking glass, Steve went to investigate and discovered mirrors were broken in the lounge and the kitchen. He returned upstairs and walked into the bathroom as he entered the door a great crash occurred and glass shattered and flew into the air, splinters rained onto the floor and buried themselves into Steve’s body. He shielded is face with his arms in order to protect his eyes, but his feet were torn to ribbons as exited the bathroom.
Meanwhile Julie was experiencing another phenomenon, a snake was moving towards her slithering across the floor. She screamed falling back onto the bed scared and confused, she saw Steve’s ancient Japanese sword on the wall so she pulled it down and began swinging it in the air. She heard Steve’s voice as he shouted to her, but insisted on destroying the snake first. With a few blows of the sword she was satisfied that the snake was dead; she heard every slash and blow as the sword contacted the body. Unfortunately after she calmed down she discovered her husband’s body on the floor he was covered in blood. By the time the police arrived Julie was in shock and still holding the sword. Steve was lying dead slashed to death with a sword; there was no sign of a snake but a lot of broken glass all over the house. It was thought by the police that Julie had broken all the mirrors in a frenzied attack around the house and finally killed her husband. She was arrested and jailed pending trial, eventually she was sent to a mental hospital where she was going to stay for a long time.
Aztec empire
The Aztec empire during the sixteenth century was considered the most powerful in Mesoamerica history (Mexican history) of all time with the capital city at Tenochtitlan in the valley of Mexico. This was classed as the heartland of the Aztec civilization, a large internally drained basin surrounded by volcanic mountains. The land
