Introduction
Tandor is an ancient evil that is not from this planet. Finding humans in limited supply, he walks among them, as one of their own, teaching them everything they need to survive and prosper. Carefully tending his garden of humans, he feeds on them, drinking not only their blood but also their very souls.
As Sam Deacon, he plays among the humans creating an inferior race of vampires in an accident.
Amused by their leader Drake, he lets them exist to take the blame of his killings as well as their own.
As centuries pass, he becomes lonely at times longing for companionship. Attracted to a beautiful human woman, he turns her into a vampire like himself and together they feast on human prey. Unable to control her new power, Dena becomes ruthless and decides to destroy her vampire mate.
In the beginning
The night was black, hardly any stars were in the sky, and only a sliver of moon could be seen. Tall buildings were everywhere surrounding the streets below. The building lights and streetlights glowed causing large shadows to fall at the edge of the darkness. Headlights from cars passing by added to the lights bouncing back and forth off the tall buildings. The street wasn’t as busy as it had been earlier but there were still people scurrying here and there anxious to get home. He had been sitting there, ten floors up on the side of a building since nightfall. It was now almost midnight and the urge inside him to feed was getting stronger. He had been watching the lights in the tall building across the street turn on one by one as people came home for the evening. Able to see in their windows without curtains drawn, he chuckled to himself at how foolishly secure they felt. On the street below he noticed an attractive blond woman and watched her enter the building across the street. Minutes later a light turned on in an apartment across from him on the fourteenth floor. He watched the blond set her keys on a table as she locked the door. Removing her coat, she laid it across the table and went into a different room in the apartment.
She was beautiful he thought to himself, feeling his hunger pains worsen. The next moment he was across the street standing just outside the woman’s sliding glass door. Seeing the door latch from the glow inside the room, he grabbed it and tested it. The door was locked. He smiled and crushed the latch with his hand; quietly sliding the door open, just enough to slip through and then slid it shut. The young woman was making kitchen-like noises in the other room. The strong aroma of brewing coffee filled the room as he stood in the shadows. The phone rang and the woman entered the room and answered her phone hanging on the wall by the doorway, unaware of his presence. Her long curly blond hair cascaded down onto her shoulders. She had fair skin and a slender build. Smiling, she spoke happily on the phone only a few feet away. Saying goodbye, she hung up the phone and walked across the room and turned on a table lamp. The lamp made a pleasant glow in the room, lighting it up nicely.
Glancing across the room, she saw him! Terrified of the intruder, she started to scream but he looked deep into her eyes and she was silent. He had control of her mind and could feel the terror spreading throughout her body. Beckoning her to come to him, she slowly walked across the room and stopped before him. She was beautiful for a human he thought as he reached out and brushed her long hair away from the side of her slender neck. Grabbing her, he pushed her head to the side and with an animal-like move sank his fangs deep into her tender neck. Holding her body, he fed on her, draining her very lifeblood and soul.
As he fed, he thought of a time long ago. Maybe it was her beauty that made him remember the past-he wasn’t sure. It was a very long time ago when his spacecraft had crashed into this planet. He had survived the crash but his spaceship was badly damaged. Upon impact his spacecraft burrowed some fifty feet or more into the side of a mountain. Hiding his ship there, he fashioned an entrance to the surface of the mountain blocking it with a huge boulder. Leaving his home planet several galaxies away, he had hoped to find a planet with prey he could feed on. His home planet was a planet of vampires. Their prey was extinct and they were all starving. They took to spaceships and one by one rocketed themselves out into space, hoping to find a new home. His spaceship spanned his galaxy and the next as he lay in a sleeplike trance.
After crashing into this planet, he soon discovered animals and humans to feed on. He often wondered if any others from his planet survived. Large carnivores ruled the planet and he quickly caught and fed on the first one he could find. Draining the animals’ thick reptile blood, his hunger was still not satisfied so he immediately found another to help ease his hunger pains. Animals were everywhere and were easy prey whenever he desired. Discovering humans, he quickly favored their thin blood and tasty souls. The problem was they were almost extinct. The humans were like animals, wearing skins and killing their food with rocks and sticks. Having telepathic powers, he could move all over this world just by imagining it. He fed carefully, remembering what had happened on his own planet by overfeeding. Humans were a backwards people yet he could taste intelligence in their souls. He farmed them like cattle, sometimes transforming himself into one of them. He fed them ideas that would enable their race to succeed. Their success would mean his success and he gardened them, patiently watching them grow. Over the years much of his time was spent among them to ease his loneliness.
He gave them the basics ofknowledge: the wheel, weapons, gunpowder, electricity, and every other major idea throughout their history. At first it was only to increase their numbers for him to feed on, but later he enjoyed the game of watching what they would do with his ideas. Humans around the world were different and he only fed each group the ideas he thought they could handle. He took his human prey all around the world so as not to over frighten them at any one place.
In his human form, he was of average height and had a slim build. He had dark hair and human women thought him handsome. Although of slender build in human form, he had the same supernatural strength he possessed in his vampire form. His vampire form was a terrifying form to behold! His eyes were burning red embers sunken in a face that was animal-like with narrow lips that opened to show two strong fangs protruding from his top jaw. His fingers were long with claws as sharp as any knife. Long arms and legs were connected to a snake-like body. His backside including the back of his head was colored pitch black while the rest of his body was blood red. If true evil ever existed, he was it! This was his world to do with whatever he pleased! No one could stand against him! Many years had passed and the humans were so many now he would never run out of prey. His only fear was that they might grow so intelligent they would destroy their planet.
He lived with them and fed on them at will. In his loneliness he grew fond of the way humans showed affection for each other. One day he met a woman so beautiful he wanted her to be with him forever. In his human form he courted her. She soon fell in love with his charm and endless riches. He was rich beyond compare and owned castles scattered all around the world. Her name was Lucy and he enjoyed toying with her life. He believed he had the power, if he wished, to transform a human into a Vampire much like himself. Lucy was doomed; either way he would destroy her life. Lucy lived during the time of knights and chivalry and he played with her for several years before arranging their marriage.
On the eve of their wedding, he went to her bedchambers. He knew his bite would kill her unless he was very careful to only transfer his saliva into her neck and not drain her soul. She met him at the door and lovingly let him in, telling him how excited she was about the wedding tomorrow. Beckoning her, she came into his arms willingly and he gently moved her blond curls aside to give her his gift. His fangs had just penetrated her lovely neck when a jealous boyfriend burst into the room. For years the boyfriend had been a thorn in his side, trying to drive him away from Lucy. Outraged he changed from his human form and reached out and raked the man with his terrible claws, killing him. In the confusion he had taken too long and drained Lucy’s lifeblood and soul, killing her. Anger raged through his body. Still tasting her soul, he savagely threw her against the far wall. How could he have been so foolish to want a human woman? Never again would he make this mistake.
Looking again at Lucy’s lifeless body lying broken on the floor, he turned and was gone.
He trembled, as he tasted the blond woman’s soul. She was drained now and he was satisfied, his hunger gone. He looked at her pale face and long blond hair again before allowing her to drop to the floor. It must have been her hair he thought to himself that stirred up his old memories. Wiping her juices from his lips, he opened the sliding glass door, went out and closed it behind him. Sitting again on the building’s ledge, he again watched the lights and activities below him. What pitifully weak beings these humans were he thought to himself, looking down at his human hands. A cool breeze was blowing now and felt good as he sat there staring into the street and darkness below. He knew he could transform a human into a vampire; he was sure of it. Never had he met another human, despite his loneliness, to which he wanted to give his gift.
Not too many years after Lucy, he made another blunder. He chuckled out loud as he thought about it. He had just started to feed on a man, just burying his fangs in
