About this ebook

The heinous transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies was executed by a presidium syndication of royals, Quakers, churches, theologians, philosophers of religion, historians, intellectuals, anthropologists, scientists, European invented Jews ( The Jews and the Expansion of Europe to the West. 1450-1800, edited by Paolo Bernardini and Norman Fiering) The Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign parts and Intellectuals. The slave trade was a nefarious system and institution based on cultural racism, avariciousness, inveterate mendacities, economic rapacity for empire building and political hegemony of Britain in Europe and the world. There was no sodality or encomium in the slave trade. Rather, it was the most egregious and unparalleled holocaust-genocide, racial- war in mans chronological history. The syndication of peoples and institutions used the apparition of an invented Caucasian Jesus Christ as Redeemer of the world without any historical evidence to brutally enslaved and murdered Africans that they had kidnapped into forceful displacement, deracination, morcellation and enslavement. Africans were deracinated (forcefully displaced) (brutally uprooted without any regard for the community, customs, traditions, religious customs- practices) with morcellation that truncated gregarious African families, societies institutions, kingdoms and communities. Reparations were made by Britain at the end of the slave trade to the planters and nothing to the African slaves. (20,000.000). (Nicholas Draper-The Price of Emancipation Slave-ownership, Compensation and British Society at the End of Slavery). African slaves were left in a state of penury, facing systems and institutions of racism, inverse-development, abandonment and destitution. The legacy and impact of the profligate slave trade on Africa is pandemic in Africa today with the psychological and theological impact on Africans confidence, self-determination, economic empowerment, heuristic critical theological liberation and technological advancement are at a point of paralysis throughout Africa and it is horrendous to experience it in the twenty first century.

    DEDICATION

Problematization of a Caucasian Jesus Christ emerged from many years of studying European, Britain and Western Quest for the Historical Jesus Christ. I studied the quest for the historical Jesus Christ both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels which has failed shamefully by the regions scholars mentioned in this paper. Juxtaposed to this experience and exposure was my many years of researching and writing academic books on European Christianity and the transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies with specific concentration on British involvement in the heinous slave trade. My indagation into the nefarious transatlantic chattel slave trade over the years is an inescapable urge to find out the systematic plan and program to make (Africa) Africans permanently disempowered (economically) financially, (technologically), scientifically, (theologically) (historically) and (culturally). To expose the evils committed by Europeans and British under the deceptive guise and covering of civilization and Christianization missions is a moral, psychological, spiritual and theological challenge for me. My conclusion after researching 142 white scholars dealing with the great quest for the historical Jesus, is that all that they have written on the quest for the historical Jesus Christ amounts only to intellectual stultification and bears nothing in resemblance to encomium in academic scholarship. In brief, Caucasian scholars have been researching for a white Jesus Christ in history without any historical evidence. Second, and this is their egregious academic failure that they all used and depended upon the four gospels as historical records and indeed paradoxically the gospels are not historical records and they were not written as historical records as claimed by Alvin Boyd Kuhn in his study- Who is this King of Glory? A Critical Study of the Christos-Messiah Tradition. Albert Schweitzer- The Quest of the Historical Jesus a Critical Study of its Progress from Reimarus to Wrede, Ernst Kasemann-Essays on New Testament Themes: It was Kasemann’s essays which paved the way for what has been called the New Quest. John Robinson- New Quest of the Historical Jesus, R. H. Lightfoot (1883-1953) History and Interpretation in the Gospels- Bampton Lectures 1934. N. T. Wright- The New Testament and The People of God and Richard Bauckham- Jesus and the Eyewitnesses- The Gospels as Eyewitness Testimony- Alister E. McGrath- The Christian Theology Reader, Schweitzer, Robinson, Wright, McGrath and Bauckham are mentioned to make irriguous the appetite of the readers of this thesis on the intellectual stultification of white scholars seeking to find a Caucasian Jesus Christ that never existed in biblical history. In addition, there is the fraudulency of white Christianity. Caucasianization of Jesus Christ and the fraudulency of white theology cannot be denied. Furthermore, white Semantic cultural Christianity is analogous historically in relation to the pestiferous transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies. It was morally and theologically vacuous Semantic cultural Christianity that the churches perpetuated. Both white theology and Semantic cultural Christianity is dia-critically fraudulent, de-contextualized and marginalized without any theological and historical relevance to black history and experience. Corrections are important to the fraudulency, de-contextualization and marginalization of the transatlantic slave trade in African bodies with white Christianity. Here black scholars have a tremendous academic and intellectual responsibility to write the black narrative and experience.

I have used the terminologies of Kebuka and Maafa consciously and for historical purposes. Although educationally, many attempts have been made to obliterate and make extremely recondite by Britain with de-contextualization and marginalization the history of the slave trade in African bodies from Africans and African descendants. It is of paramount importance for Africans and African descendants to know the history of the transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies and to ensure that this great history and legacy is handed down to future generations of black young people. Maafa is the great destruction of Africans through deracination and morcellation of Africans in the heinous transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies. It was the displacement of Africans, spiritually, traditionally, individually, collectively, religiously, theologically, geographically and demographically. Kebuka is the lasting memory of the profound deracination and morcellation and Atlantic Crossing of Africans forced to the Caribbean and the USA and other places for economic brutal enslavement by the presidium syndication of institutions, systems and peoples mentioned within this thesis.

I dedicate this volume for the Kebuka and Maafa of my noble African ancestors of the slave trade in African bodies. The second aspect of the dedication is towards the mobilization and creation of a European, British and American holocaust-genocide memorial day in African bodies, in memory of all Africans who suffered de-humanization, (effigurated) animalization, inferiorizations, exploitations, oppressions, indignity and humiliations at the hands of Europeans, Britain and the West for their economic foundations by the brutal and heinous transatlantic slave trade in African bodies. (The European invented Jews according to Prof. Shlomo Sand-The Invention of the Jewish People. They plaid a major function in the brutal forced enslavement of Africans. (Professor Shlomo Sand teaches History at the University of Tel Aviv). (The Jews and the Expansion of Europe to The West 1450-1800). (The so-called Jewish memorial day is: 27th of January, they celebrate annually as their holocaust memorial day). It is for their un-independent and unverified claimed of 6,000.000 Jews. What of the African holocaust-genocide of over 300, 000.000 Africans who were enslaved and murdered brutally? These Africans died during the heinous transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies and European Jews were involved in the slave trade crimes best described as nefarious and nefandous. What the backside African political leaders and Church leaders are doing about the African holocaust-genocide? The cadence of all African slaves lives in these pages and many more. Their memories are inscribed on the great buildings all over London, Manchester, Liverpool, Oxford University, University of London, Cambridge University, Bristol and Hull. Educational and cultural silence, de-contextualization and marginalization cannot hold back the powerful force and contributions of Africans to the building of Britain and European States and United States of America. As Sir Hilary McD. Beckles aptly stated in his book- Genocide in African Slavery 2014- The Government of Britain and other European States that became rich from the enslavement of African people, the genocide of indigenous communities and the deceptive breach of contract and other Asians brought to the plantation under indenture, have a case to answer in respect of reparatory justice. It is un-natural to think and write theology and philosophy of religion without the exposure to the full history of the transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies. It is on this fact that the assumption and postulation is made that there can be no valid theology without contextualization theologically of the pestiferous transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies. The slave trade has shaped the world we live in today and there is no political, theological, economical and technological questions about this fundamental fact. Most of the proslavery giants of the abolition movement were biblical theologians and philosophers of religion. They were a powerful force even with their misleading theological and philosophical interpretations of the Bible. As Elizabeth Fox-Genovese and Eugene D. Genovese pointed out in their encomium volume- The Mind of the Master Class- History and Faith in the Southern Slaveholder’s world view- The Mind of the Master Class tells of America’s greatest historical tragedy. It presents the slaveholders as men and women, a great many of whom were intelligent, honorable, and pious. It asks how people who were admirable in so many ways could have presided over a social system that proved itself an enormity and inflicted horrors on their slaves. The South had formidable proslavery intellectuals who participated fully in transatlantic debates and boldly challenged an ascendant capitalist (free-labor) society. Blending classical and Christian traditions, they forged a moral and political philosophy designed to sustain conservative principles in history, political economy, social theory, and theology while translating them into political action. Even those who judge their way of life most harshly have much to learn from the probing moral and political reflections on their times—and ours– beginning with the virtues and failings of their own society and culture.

Miriam my daughter, by virtue of having a father who is a theologian and historian with academic concentration on the nefarious, pestiferous and facinorous transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies and the invention of a Caucasian Jesus Christ. By the frequent conversations we have been having, Miriam is deeply conscious that there was never a white plastic Jesus Christ in history. But that Jesus was a black African. Jesus had brothers, sisters and generations of ancestors from Abraham to David. St. Matthew chapter 1-1-17. When Miriam sees pictures of a white Jesus Christ at age 7 she is able consciously to be voluminous in her voice and shouting loud, it’s a lie and a big one. Jesus was never white. Jesus was a black man. This consciousness is through her environment and educationally through her father consistent instructions- my child be proud to be a black African child. So this book-thesis is dedicated to my wonderful and articulate daughter Miriam. Miriam please continue to carry the light and consciousness that Jesus was black and in his blackness Jesus is deeply connected with all black people because we all drank from the bitter cup of the transatlantic chattel slave trade. The cup of sufferings, oppressions, exploitations, de-humanizations, being effigurated and inferiorizations of African slaves cannot and should not be forgotten. We live Kebuka and Maafa daily as Africans. The black Jesus of the black experience and context came to demonstrate to mankind the possibility of perfection. We seek emulation of this perfection in the Jesus of Good Friday in our lives. Theologically and contextually, the Cross of Jesus is the ultimate significance of God’s redemptive love and hesed. May this thesis be more than a challenge to my readers. I hope it will add a new dimension to the exposure of all who read this thesis on the problematization of the invention of a Caucasian Jesus Christ theologically and politically which has messed up Africa and the Caribbean. (A Caucasian Jesus Christ has no entification historical place in man’s chronological history). It was Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton in 1833-4 who advised the Methodist Wesleyan Society in London thus Remember the wrongs of Africa all that you have to offer is only the compensation of religious instruction. No financial compensation-reparation to Africa and the Caribbean was in his mind. But today, the Caribbean Reparation Commission is pushing hard for reparations. Not only reparation is imperative, also social historians must extricate the cadence of the slaves and the exposure of the nefarious and pestiferous crimes committed against Almighty God and African peoples for economic reasons mixed with racism. The invention, perpetuation and inculcation of a Caucasian Jesus Christ as Redeemer of the world has deeply central to White Christianity fraudulency and inveterate mendacities. It was invented to keep British White Christianity, white theology, white philosophy of religion and philosophy unsullied, which was indeed and paradoxically without historical veridicality and moral rectitude, because it was based on inveterate mendacities and fraudulency.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I would like to place on record my profound acknowledgement to Dr. Eric Williams unmatchable contribution in his encomium book –Capitalism and Slavery 1944. Williams has delineated the inept-ness and utter repugnancy of British cultural perception of superiority and deceptiveness of Semantic cultural Christianity for the brutal enslavement of Africans. Williams is worthwhile quoting in full thus. It has been a most arduous undertaking to emancipate Caribbean compatriots from these historical inhumanities in which they have been imprisoned for these painful deprecating centuries of serfdom and slavery. These suffering were inflicted by the hands of those who created a covering of civilization heavily larded with the preaching of Christianity to justify behavior that one would not expect even from the animals inhabiting the forests of this planet. The cultural superiority and deceptiveness of Britain has permeated the whole cultural and psychological psychic distance of Britain during the heinous transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies. Capitalism and Slavery was my first encounter and exposure to the profligate transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies. Next, was my empirical experience of the containment and raping of African women by my visiting Cape Coast Castle and Axim Slave Fort. The impact of the slave castle and forts environments, the dungeons, The Door of No Return, the rooms where African women were brutally raped in nefandous manners. Women who refused to be raped were chained to the ground in the slave holding yard. The most sardonic experience I had at Cape Coast Castle was the discovery that the first building that was erected was the Dutch Reformed Church and Catholic Church. It was the confirmation of the co-terminus and analogous connections between the brutal enslavement of Africans and British Semantic cultural Christianity. Eric Williams groundbreaking book has triggered endless researches into the slave trade and many attempts have been made to disprove William’s historical findings. Roger Anstey- Liverpool, the African Slave Trade, and Abolition is a good example and more scholarly treatment has been done to Williams in- British Capitalism and Caribbean Slavery- The Legacy of Eric Williams Edited by Barbara L. Solow and Stanley L. Engerman.

It is not a deliberate selection of acknowledgements that I make here because the bibliography of books read and researched though impressive yet the few scholars that have influenced and instigated me are here acknowledged. Prof. Dr. James Cone of Union Theological Seminary N/Y with his all embracing approach to theology, annotation and systematic theology applications to the black experience and the connection to the historical Jesus Christ of the black experience. In my early days reading philosophy of religion and theology I was inspired and moved by James Cone contribution as the founding father of Black Theology and Black Liberation Theology. His 2011 thesis on The Cross and the Lynching Tree is the theological and spiritual linkage between Jesus and the African race during, in and after the transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies. But in this laconic acknowledgement, I feel compelled to acknowledge Dr. Gayraud S. Wilmore who was Professor of Afro-American Studies at New York Theological Seminary. He supervised part of and read my first doctorate degree thesis. To him I am indeed indebted in the tremendous and unbroken chain of thanks to Dr. Wilmore for his remarkable contribution in his thesis on- Black Religion and Black Radicalism-An Interpretation of the Religious History of Afro-American People.

I cannot overlook my gratitude to Dr. Alvin Boyd Kuhn author of- Who is this King of Glory? A Critical Study of the Christos-Messiah Tradition. For far too long I was theologically and biblically tied to Form Criticism and Redaction Criticism of the Gospels and the historical Jesus Christ and eschatology. Kuhn study has extricated me theologically and I now see the gospels for what they are intended historically. (Unequivocally the construction of the Gospels were made by the early Church and we cannot or rather it is impossible to formulate a chronological and systematic narrative of the life, ministry and death of Jesus from the gospels). The narrow view of the gospels as history and theology is no longer food for thought to me. Rather the image of Jesus Christ or rather Jesus as presented in the gospels is more of a psychological imperative than a vague eschatological tantalizing future figure and the gateway to glorification. The melliferous chimerical eschatological opium of Semantic cultural Christianity imposed on African slaves, I now placed squarely in the context of the horrendous transatlantic chattel slave trade period of Britain racial conceptualization of a civilizing and Christianizing mission to Africa by British brutal and forced enslavement of Africans with the added act of deracination and morcellation. In contemporary times it poses no real difficulty to understand the problems, complexities, dilemmas, confusions and at times the ambivalence and the legacy of deracination and morcellation of Africans today but to take a contiguous look at Chieftaincy in West Africa viz Ghana for example. The best guide with encomium scholarship is (Chieftaincy in Ghana Culture, Governance and Development Edited by: Irene K. Odotei and Albert K. Awedoba.

I acknowledge with conviction and enthusiasm a fellow African descendant Sir Prof. Hilary McD. Beckles of Cave Hill Campus Barbados University of the West Indies for his singular contribution thesis- Britain’s Black Debt- Reparations for Caribbean Slavery and Native Genocide. Beckles has demonstrated his academic perspicacious researching ability and at the sometime he is pertinacious for reparations from Britain and European States for enslavement and genocide of indigenous communities in the Caribbean. Caucasian historical and social history scholars have removed from their lexicon even the linguistic shadow of reparations. But Beckles has given with substantiation the historical formation and development of British involvement in the heinous transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies avariciously and edaciously for the British empire. It is with much pudicity that I acknowledged that Beckles and I are intramural on all fronts of the heinousness of British transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies for technological and industrialization of Britain from the blood, deaths, sweats, murders and brutal forced enslavement of Africans on plantations in the Caribbean region. We are searching and seeking assiduously for reparations and reconciliations for historical injustices and crimes against humanity from Britain. Academic appreciation to The Rev’d. Dr. Devon Dick of Boulevard Baptist Church Kingston Jamaica for his critiquing of chapter 11. I would like to express my special thanks and deep appreciation to Rev’d. David James who is my brother-in-Christ, a supportive colleague, the friend who walked the extra mile with me and a soldier in Christ. I will always be grateful to David who proved to be a wonderful mediator who was not afraid to challenge the injustices and prejudices of the hierarchy of the Methodist Church. David’s support and colleagueship gave me hope in mankind and his solidarity was contiguous to that of the late Rev’d. Deryck C. Collingwood who stood firmly beside me both as a theological student and circuit minister. Added thanks David for reading this indagation and appreciative critique of eminence and value. My special thanks to my graduate student Rev’d. Lena Ali, M.A. (Ruskin Cambridge) for proof reading this indagation with sharp eyes and an academic disciplined mind. In addition my appreciation and value for our long friendship packed with veridicality and repristination of intellect and determination for the exposure, education, elucidation and circulation of information for Africans and West Indians based on the nefarious history of the heinous transatlantic slave trade, forts and castles designed specifically for the first stage of Africans forced and bitter enslavement by the churches in the name of fraudulent Semantic cultural white Christianity and the Caucasianization of Jesus as Redeemer of the world without any historical evidence.

Two exceptional and extraordinarily persons are in my life that deserves every ounce of maga cum laude appreciation for their constant support and encouragement in my academic indagation in the transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies. To my wife Pam, volumes of thanks for her thoughtfulness, exchanging of ideas and help in looking critically with me at the slave trade for what it is. The slave trade was executed by the churches with Europeans and British fraudulent Semantic cultural Christianity in the brutal forced enslavement of Africans. Miriam our extremely special daughter consistently at my side and sharing my study. Miriam you are the light and hope of my life for a better world. Reparation justice for historical crimes and Injustices against the African race is a goal that all Africans and West Indians must assiduously strive for consistently. The world is in a state of tremendous imbalanced with inverse development of Africa. Africa must ultimately be liberated from the grips of Europe, Britain and USA domination, subjudication, marginalization and inferiorizations psychologically, industrially, economically, technologically and theologically of Africans. The ultimate goal must be political unification and industrialization of Africa with extrication of Africa as the economic basket for Europe, Britain and the West. The logical starting point must be that African political leaders are in need of psychological liberation from deep, deed seated inferiorizations which are so conspicuous and in delineation in their inability to make advantageous deals for Africa. Rather than always carrying begging plates on their knees. Second, Africa needs theological liberation from fraudulent Semantic cultural Christianity which is literally transatlantic chattel slave trade Christianity as forcefully stated above by the immortal and distinguished author of Capitalism and Slavery in 1944. Africa needs indigenized theology and serious liberation and jettison of fraudulent Semantic cultural Christianity. Africans must cultivate a serious degree of exposure with British transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies. Commixed with serious connections with the slave trade psychologically, economically, politically and theologically. From these essentials there must be a tremendous degree of engagement with the slave trade theologically, psychologically, economically and politically. Because, it is not that a Caucasian Jesus Christ not only never existed in history-but it is the theological and psychological impact of fraudulent Semantic cultural Christianity inculcation by Europeans and British with inferiorizations of Africans with their invented Caucasian image of Jesus Christ as Redeemer of the world fraudulently packed with inveterate mendacities with the problematization of a Caucasian Jesus Christ which is the disturbing problem and polemics today.

    FOREWORD

Consciousness is not mere physical existence. Consciousness is psychological, cultural, political, social, theological, spiritual and even sexual to the extreme. My consciousness of the negation, inferiorizations and violations of (Africans) black people came about when as a post-graduate student I was reading Church History, 1517 to present day. The professor lectured only on white churches and white Christianity. Eventually his biasness became too much for me to bear in class. So I plucked up some degree of audacity and asked him bluntly: what about the black contributions? His reply was immediate and blunt: Robinson, it is not important. His answer moved me culturally, historically and theologically to the point that I said damn it, I need to look into the history of black people and that history is what the enslaved called Barbarity Time in the Caribbean. My second level of consciousness came about when I read Theology and Philosophy of Religion- Problem of Suffering and Evil in Religions of the world. The transatlantic chattel slave trade was not considered as moral evil or as a moral crime against African humanity. My third level of consciousness came about when I read Eric Williams-Capitalism and Slavery and his- British Historians and the West Indies. His Foreword to his book British Historians and the West Indies where he pointed out unreservedly –The author seeks principally to emancipate his compatriots whom the historical writings that he analyses sought to deprecate and to imprison for all time in the inferior status to which these writings sought to condemn them and It has been a most arduous undertaking to emancipate Caribbean compatriots from these historical inhumanities in which they have been imprisoned for these painful deprecating centuries of serfdom and slavery. These sufferings were inflicted by the hands of those who created a covering of civilization heavily larded with the preaching of Christianity to justify behavior that one would not expect even from the animals inhabiting the forests of this planet. It is this covering or cover-up that my writings seek to expose and as a link in the long chain in the quest for reparations for historical injustices and crimes.

I always view white Christianity with serious skepticism because of racism I experienced in the Methodist Church in the UK and occasionally from other churches. The emanation of racism in the church came mainly from the indigenous white English people and particularly from the officials. I frequently wonder how English missionaries to Africa and the Caribbean on their return talk warmly of black hospitality and general congeniality but the said people were treating and seeing Africans and Caribbean folks differently in Britain. My academic discovery that the heinous transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies was executed by European and British peoples with white Christianity and the homologation of the intellectuals and Churches disturbed my mind and intellect. The churches in Portugal symbolized and delineated the economic power of the slave trade. Next, the presidium syndication of royals, ministers of religion, bishops and Archbishops, theologians, philosophers of religion dressed as Slaveholders, Slave Masters, Judges, Planters, police officers brutally and forcefully enslaved Africans with deep psychic-distance and unsullied character and mentality. These were the forces that impacted on me and instigated and influenced my interest into the indagation of the transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies and white Christianity without theological engagement and theological connections.

My first publication was European Christianity and the transatlantic chattel slave trade: A Black Hermeneutical Study. This volume inspired me to write, African Humanity-Shaking Foundations: A Sociological, Theological, Psychological Study. In this volume I researched 142 white theologians on the Quest for the Historical Jesus and I found that they all relied on the gospels as historical records and in reality the Gospel are not historical records. (Christopher Rowland- Christian Origins). Second, they all sought in their quest to find a white Jesus that never existed in biblical history for the placation of their culture, their vacuous semantic cultural Christianity with violations of humanity and their execution of the heinous transatlantic chattel slave trade against Almighty God and humanity. What I noted most is the comprehensive removal of the basic and fundamental attributes of civilization and moral Christianity from the vocabulary-lexicon the delineation of any relevance to Africans as human beings. Namely, freedom, dignity, humanity, liberty, morality and axiological values. I questioned what is white Christianity in the context of the slave trade. Next, I researched and listed graphically the nefarious crimes so-called Christians inflicted on Africans and remained unsullied. Deeply moved by the iniquities of the slave trade I wrote my next volume entitled- Western Europeans and British Barbarity, Savagery and Brutality in the Slave Trade followed by British Churches Enslaved and Murdered Black Atlantic Slaves- Contextualization and De-contextualization in the context of the Slave Trade. I argued forcefully, that there can be no moral theology, moral Christianity and moral philosophy of religion with a context and contextualization of theology and philosophy of religion must be the wicked transatlantic chattel slave trade for study. This volume made me more anxious to deal finally I hope with the Quest for the Historical Jesus by white scholars and the impact of a Caucasian Jesus Christ on Africans and Caribbean folks from the era of the slave trade to the present time. White Christianity is better promoted by inveterate mendacities and Africans are enmeshed in these lies and deceptions as literal and real without knowing that they are chimerical concepts. Africans and Caribbean folks believe that heaven is in the skies inundated with milk and honey and when they die they will be going to heaven and they are going to put on their shoes and dance all over heaven. They believe that God is an old white man sitting on a chair with a hammer in his hand to punish wicked people. They believe in hell and Satan. The list is long with all types of chimerical-ism. Lastly, they believe that Jesus is white as depicted with posters in their houses and on their cars all over Africa. They need to know that the image of a white Jesus is linked firmly with the iniquities, oppression, exploitations, violence, punishments and evils of the transatlantic slave trade era. Rev’d. John Newton saw unmerciful whippings, continued till the poor creatures have not had power to groan under their misery, and hardly a sign of life has remained. He saw the enslaved agonizing for hours and indeed days in thumbscrews. He knew one captain who studied, with no small attention, how to make death as excruciating as possible". He recalled two groups for selective punishment. Jackson first group he jointed, that is, he cut off, with an axe, first their feet, then their legs below the knee, then their thighs; in like manner their hands, then their arms below the elbow, and then at their shoulders, till their bodies remained like the trunk of a tree when all the branches are lopped away; and, lastly, their heads. And, as he proceeded in his operations, he threw the reeking members and heads in the midst of the bulk of the trembling slaves, who were chained upon the main deck.

The terror so far was insufficient, so Captain Jackson then punished the second group: He tied round the upper parts of the heads of others a small soft plotted rope, which the sailors call a point, so loosely as to admit a short lever: by continuing to turn the lever, he drew the point more and more tight, till at length he forced their eyes to stand out of their heads; and when he had satiated himself with their torments he cut their heads off". Marcus Rediker- The Slave Ship- A Human History. These were actions of Christians and so-called civilized people. These were actions of a civilizing and Christianizing mission to Africans by Britain. The terrors and suffering of African slaves in the transatlantic chattel slave trade period executed by so-called Christians mentioned above, does pose serious questions concerning a moral God and a white plastic Jesus Christ.

I came to the conclusion that white Christianity and white philosophy of religion is fraudulent. The fraudulency is on many fronts leading to the decision that white Christianity will not and cannot if there is a place called heaven get Africans and Caribbean folks to such a place of eternal rest. It cannot because it is fraudulent, in the context of the slave trade without mortal values and it was the said culture under the guise of a civilizing and Christianizing mission to Africans that they used and perpetuated nefarious and nefandous crimes. Now, according to the degrees of barbarity, savagery and brutality, the minds, conducts and peoples that executed the slave trade despite their respective pulcharatude were not and could not had been morally good people but rather demonically very evil people. What I called nefarious people mentally. (These volumes mentioned must be read synoptically) because they are written for that purpose.

This present volume is a challenge to Africans and Caribbean folks to stand up and think and question what white Christianity and Jesus is all about. It seems that Christianity and Jesus has become a psychological necessity rather than a deep theological necessity. Furthermore, it is historically factual that the brutal forced enslavement of Africans was executed by so-called Christians and churches. It follows systematically and logically that with white fraudulent Christianity Africans and Caribbean folks are labeled Christians based on Sincere Ignorance and not a critical heuristic faith of substance. It is of paramount importance for black people to critique the peoples, societies, institutions and systems that forcefully and brutally enslaved black people. This is a major social, religious, spiritual, psychological and theological problem confronting Africans and African descendants. It is further compounded with the problematization of a Caucasian Jesus Christ that never existed and the Caucasian image is deeply impinged on the psychology and theology of the lives of Africans and Caribbean folks. I precipitate to say that black people lack three fundamental things psychologically and theologically. a) It is serious informative Exposure to the full unpolluted history of the slave trade because the transatlantic chattel slave trade has shaped the world we live in today historically, technologically, theologically, economically and politically. b) It is theological connection to the historical transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies. To know the full history of the slave trade that shaped the world we live in today is to make black people become more creative, innovative, productive and involved in creating a better world based on gender and ethnic social equality. Engagement, with the transatlantic chattel slave trade and that means, with life and society; history, theology, technology and science. c) Embracement, holding dear to all moral values of civilization and development. Indeed, the axiological values of humanity. Reading and understanding this book is a good starting point to that all important journey of knowledge and experience commixed with historical and theological enlightenment.

    PREFACE

Writing Christian Theology is a very serious business because theology is talking about God. The place for writing real theology is never the comfortable offices of University towers but rather from the bottom-up or human context of historical events and contemporary human experiences. For example, there is no area of Africa that has not been touched by the impact sociologically, economically, technologically, politically, culturally and theologically by the transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies. Africa is permeated by the horrendous effects demographically, geographically and anthropologically of the transatlantic chattel slave trade in African bodies and colonialism. Theos is God. One
