About this ebook

Billions of years ago, the mind separated from The Source.
During this separation, the soul came into existence. But why?

Consciousness details the history of man and which states of consciousness human beings have gone through in their evolution, and what is still ahead. The time between our lives on Earth is explained and the author elaborates on questions like: What does being born and dying actually mean? How do they pertain to karma and the life plan? And how does the energy system of chakras and aura work?

    Preface

This book’s title, Consciousness, aptly describes the process that I have gone through over the past 25 years. It has been a journey of experience, development, and growth, and this journey is far from over.

During the first 35 years of my life, I lived like most people: I went with the currents of life and sometimes the current was wild and sometimes calm; sometimes its color was dark and at other times bright. In short, I was experiencing life, but at some point it changed. I became depressed and life was not business as usual anymore. It was hard for me to accept life as it was. Questions arose, such as, Why am I on Earth and what am I supposed to do with my life? Why is life often so painful and what are the causes of my fears? Maybe life is teaching me a lesson, but which one?

My quest had begun. It was a lonely one, but also a very inspiring one, during which I met many people on a similar quest, each one with his own history, each one with his own story. I also experienced visions, and in hindsight I realized that I had always had these visions, but never knew what they meant and how to deal with them. I took courses on chakras, aura, and intuitive development. My curiosity aroused, I better understood the questions that arose within me. I began to discern my spiritual path and became more conscious that my existence on Earth had a deeper meaning. I realized I was drawn strongly to the Christ within me. By the way, it is important to note that Christ, for me, is Love and Light.

Through learning, inner development, and spiritual experiences, my healing practice came into existence. I wanted to help others and in 2000 I opened my practice, providing insight, support, and guidance in spirituality. I guide people on their own journeys and help them with their process of consciousness. My clients gain insight because they become aware of their issues, which may have to do with occurrences in this life, previous lives, or both. With this insight, the clients’ perspectives on life shift and they can begin to live differently. Part of the treatment includes cleansing the client’s energy system.

In 2005, I met Ria Sweelssen, a co-professional, which led to a collaboration of sorts. We discovered that children, in particular, could benefit from our approach, which works very well for children with anxieties. The causes of these anxieties are often too difficult for children to understand during the treatment session. However, by combining our divine and spiritual powers, we are able to help these children at a spiritual level, which in turn enables them to perform better in their everyday lives.

All my experiences have given me insight into the evolution of man. When I met Jan Gyselinck, this knowledge became even more profound. Jan owns an esoteric and holistic educational center in Bruges, Belgium. I took several classes with him, and in addition to the general explanation of esotericism, he introduced me (through guided meditations) to the powers of the soul, the cosmic fires, the Masters of Wisdom, the Rays of Life, and more.

Thereafter, I felt the need to put my knowledge and experiences to paper and gather everything together in a book. This book is designed to help people dealing with the same types of questions I had. It is especially helpful for clients already on their journeys, as well as for people whose interest is piqued and want to learn more.

In the process of writing and editing this book, I have had great help from what I refer to as the other side. The Masters of Wisdom lovingly passed much of the information on to me. These Masters of Wisdom are spiritual beings that have developed their consciousness to such an extent that they don’t need to incarnate on Earth. Some examples are Master Jesus, Master Saint Germain, and Master Koot Hoomi. These Masters of Wisdom offer help from the other side to aid person’s process of growth, the same process the Masters of Wisdom have gone through themselves. By asking questions I received the information from The Master of Wisdom most involved in the topic. In addition, I have used my own observations as a source of information.

I thank everyone who contributed to the realization this book, but especially Ria Sweelssen, Jan Gyselinck, and Paul Van Gogh. Ria contributed in a big way, because she was able to comprehensively relay the information from the Masters of Wisdom. She was integral in helping me finalize this book. Jan Gyselinck’s comments and suggestions improved the contents tremendously. By posing critical questions during the review process, Paul Van Gogh improved the accessibility of the content.

I have closed a chapter in my life with the publishing of this book. It was often not easy, but I succeeded by using the power of love. This book is meant as food for thought, and readers may take whatever is relevant to them from within its pages. I have written this book from my own experiences, and my process of reaching my state of consciousness. I understand that some topics may not coincide with your own story and experiences; however, it is not my intention to convince, merely to offer my opinion.

I hope you enjoy this book and that it will help you in your process of consciousness.

    Introduction

Consciousness is a broad notion. It is about awakening. You will notice that there are exponents of consciousness other than the physical body, which you can call consciousness. This consciousness continues to develop throughout our lives, allowing us to gain insights about the path we’re following. We are on a journey, in a manner of speaking. During this process of development, our consciousness continuously gets shaped. It is important to realize that we have already come a long way.

It started billions of years ago. Imagine you were once a kind of energy, which we will call mind. This mind was connected to energy, which is just love, rest, and peace. This energy is called All There Is, or All-comprehensive Love, and is also known as The Source. Despite this love, rest, and peace, there was a need to know the imperfect as well, besides the perfect. This implies making a distinction — the ability to experience the contrast between good and evil, power and powerlessness, and love and hate. And the mind made this choice.

The mind broke free from The Source and started its process to develop consciousness. In order to experience these contrasts, the soul arose out of the mind. The soul is the part of consciousness that looks for experiences. First, the soul started experiencing consciousness of being a mineral, then a plant, and then an animal. Then the soul is ready to experience the contrasts belonging to the human beings.

Contrasts of good and evil may simply be words. Nevertheless, it is hard to deal with them properly, which is best described as getting them in balance, or learning that we have everything within us — both good and evil. That is what humans will experience here on Earth. However, the soul is just energy and in order to have experiences the soul needs a vehicle, and that vehicle has become the physical body.

Before starting this journey, a Plan, a Divine Plan, was made. The entire evolutionary process was written down in this Plan. This Plan supports your development as a soul. You are part of this Divine Plan. Although the destination is predetermined, you must choose the journey yourself. For example, you have made a fully conscious decision to experience a part of your development on Earth.

Energy is central in the evolution; everything around us is pure energy. Every thought you have is followed by energy. The physical body is made of energy, but energy is more than just the physical body. There are multiple levels of energy around your body. These levels play their own roles in the process of developing consciousness. These levels are also called aura. Aura is connected with the chakras, the centers of energy.

Energy can have different levels of density, ranging from very solid to very subtle. The energy of the physical body is completely different than the energy of The Source. Your state of consciousness defines your level of energy.

As soon as the soul has experienced the contrasts on Earth and knows that it has internalized everything, it moves forward on its path. The soul experiences higher states of consciousness and eventually will reach Mastery and will disconnect itself from the physical body. It takes many incarnations to experience all these contrasts. This, too, is founded in a plan. There is a life plan for every life here on Earth. Call it a program with goals to be reached in this life. When everything goes according to plan, the total time on Earth will be short. But real life is different. You encounter many issues and choices to be made, some good and some not so good. You can only experience what is good when you have an understanding of what is bad. The same applies to each contrast, such as power and powerlessness. We all deal with these themes. There is no such thing as chance or coincidence; everything is subject to laws. One of these laws is the law of karma, which is the law of cause and effect. Master Saint Germain articulated it perfectly: Each experience relates to a previous cause and at the same time each cause has an effect in the future.

When the soul is ready to come to Earth, it has already selected a mother to whom it wants to be born. But why this particular mother? That is related to what the soul of the unborn child and the soul of the mother intend to experience together, regardless of how painful and difficult it sometimes might be for both child and parent.

Every life ends; everyone must part from the physical body. Whether it happens at a young age or at an older age depends on the intended experience of the soul on Earth. Are you at peace with the transition or do you fear death?

When one deviates from the life plan, the body can get sick. What does getting sick mean? Of course you see a doctor first, but maybe there are other reasons for your sickness. Your body gets sick for a reason: the body is out of balance.

After living many lives and continuing as a soul, ultimately the mind ends up as energy back at The Source. It merges with the energy of The Source, All There Is, and the All-comprehensive Love. The journey is completed, and you have reached your destination. At the end of this book I have included a story from experience, illustrating the process of consciousness.

Each chapter begins with a brief introduction, followed by topics in a question-and-answer format. Each question brings us closer to the heart of the matter. Each chapter ends with examples from my sessions with clients. For privacy reasons, I have generalized the examples and altered their names. These examples are meant as an impression of how the process of consciousness can work and might have no relation with the content of the chapter.

The epilogue readdresses some of the more relevant points. And finally, in the addendums you’ll find an explanation of terms, an at-a-glance chart explaining the chakras, and a bibliography.

    The beginning of consciousness   1

For centuries, people have asked the same questions: Where did I originate? What is my purpose on Earth? Where do I go? This chapter addresses these questions in general.

Writing about the beginning, while it was just there, is difficult. From my conversations with the other side, I have received information, but it remains a mystery. However, I will try as much as possible to bring clarity to this.

When we go back to the beginning, we arrive at the unity, which is also called The Source. The Source is known in the Western world as the All-comprehensive, the All-Power, All There Is, Love, The Pure, or God. In the Asian world one uses the term Om Tat Sat Om. In ancient documents, The Source is called the rootless root, the causeless cause, or the unmoved mover. This all means there is no beginning and there is no end. In this book I use the terms The Source and All There Is.

    What’s All There Is?

It’s difficult to define All There Is. It is perfect. It is all and nothing, and there is no contrast. There is love, rest, and peace. Everything is pure energy, an All-comprehensive energy in which everything is one. All There Is is a form of energy with such creating power that it is unimaginable.

All There Is is the thinnest and purest form of energy you can imagine. It is a form of energy that we, being in physical bodies, cannot comprehend because we want to give it a shape that is not there.

Our minds originate from All There Is.
