About this ebook
Poet Laureate, the collected work of New York poet Noble Essence of the Soan Loem fraternity of mindz, hits the literary shelves with flair and gusto. Sarah Wyman, State University of New York at New Paltz July, 2013
Poets are known for expressing sights and desires with eloquence and creativity. Their words outline and illustrate the world around us, allowing others to see the beautiful picture that is human life. Poets are fluent, forceful, and fearless, and they broaden the horizons of those observant enough to stumble upon their brave words.
Welcome to the Tinderbox is a collection of observations from a noble soul, on Earth for a duration of time during which the author chooses to truly shine. Noble does not seek fame but enlightenment and relation to the divine. Born to city life, Noble Essence has seen, observed, and now delivers the realities you seek.
The author is in no way perfect; Noble has perpetrated iniquities and sins, just like the rest of us. However, none of these shadows have marred the light that leads to greater, deeper knowledge of self. Regardless of where you come from, the words found herein bridge the gap of mental separation and segregation to a state of connectedness and beauty.
Noble Essence was born and bred in the Bronx as a true student of experience and grew as a tulip from the citys asphalt, despite difficulty and strife. Noble began writing to let the lonely knowthey are not alone.

Though the writer of this work took about five years to complete, he was not alone by any means! He was inspired and encouraged by a small, but powerful community of comrades, which we chose to honor:
Jehovah God; for blessing us with the talent and gift of language arts.
Elder Raymond D. Smith II, Ph.D; who encouraged and spent much time keeping us focused with priceless mentorship.
Poet Laureate!
Meaning: An eloquent expresser appointed for a life time by the Royal household.
Introduction
In this formal personal presentation
I will dissect most of my inner thoughts.
There is no one set code of inspiration,
I will touch subjects of all sorts.
This library of mind sets is dedicated to my wife
and Mrs. Jackie Warren-Moore…
They seem to believe I have what it takes to entertain minds
and open social doors.
As I sit down sipping on some
House Recipe Premium hot tea,
I ponder on the breakdown of this book’s title…
how to explain why naming it Poet Laureate!
is ever so vital.
A ‘Poet’
is persona expressing desires and sights eloquently…
skilled in fluent, forceful, and appropriate speech.
So when you speak of a poet then you’re speaking of me,
your horizon will be broader as you continue to read.
To be ‘Laureate’
is to be appointed by the Royal Household for a lifetime…
I’m here for the duration,
in which I will indefinitely shine.
Noblez are Royal,
existing under the patronage of the Sovereign God!
Therefore relating to you in life should not be hard or odd.
I may not be Alicia Keys, Jackie Warren-Moore,
Edgar Allen Poe, or Tupac Shakur,
however, I am the Essence of my community,
delivering realities you’re looking for.
I have many iniquities,
so I’m missing the mark of perfection.
Some you can identify with,
some new brought to your attention.
Regardless of the differences,
poetry bridges the gap of mental separation
and segregation…
Enjoy the ‘Poet Laureate’
get a Sound view of my existing maturation.
The Beginning
I was told by many people
I have enough talent to touch the world.
My thoughts are sand grains in an oyster,
developing into a pearl…
I’ve written thousands of poems
not taking most of them seriously;
but my mind was changed 2007,
the twentieth evening of February.
Yes, what an evening it was.
An evening of knowledge, education,
absent of drugs.
A poetic seminar done in the month nationally known;
set aside for Black history…
this will remain an evening very dear to me.
I almost missed out due to my wife’s mentality.
(But that’s another story)
As prisoners are seated
Awaiting the arrival of one Mrs. Jackie Warren Moore,
All mouths were shut
As she walked through the gym door.
My mind was anxious
wondering
what this grown high yellow
Lena Horne complected, Fabulous And Thick,
Black Panther afro wearing,
naturally beautiful
woman had in store.
She introduced herself
stated her purpose for visiting the Upstate Correctional facility.
By the close of the seminar,
I felt like she only came to visit me;
she taught me directly.
I asked her one of the first questions
concerning my development
in better lyrical communication
I have the ability to think rhythmically, but writing as fast as I think
causes frustration…
or should I say the lack of
writing as fast as I think,
with clear expression of perception.
She told me to take my time,
relax my mind,
and let it flow naturally…
then she dedicated this
unpublished - at the time
poem to me.
Dashed hopes and dreams litter the street
Broken pieces of promise sparkling
Once whole
Crush beneath us
Dreams
Fragile as butterfly wings
Smudged into nothingness in mid flight
Oh, you dreamers,
Guard those visions precious and rare
Dream stealers abound sniffing the air.
Jackie Warren-Moore
at first I wondered why she had no title
yet
for a poem given in sincere dedication;
but once I read the lyrics, I titled it Essence,
due to how it and I
have pure relations.
See the beauty of poetry is
like a painted picture
it’s interpretation can have many translations.

Sometimes I really believe it’s all my fault;
the cancer was in remission
up until the day I got caught…
no love can compare
to my unconditional love for my grandmother,
I never had a license, yet I safely drove her
to and from the doctor.
I would have done anything she asked
if it would have kept her alive…
You couldn’t tell she was eighty,
if you ever had the chance to see her drive!
No one
had the ability to resist her intelligence,
cooking,
or charm…
she didn’t separate generations to everyone she
