About this ebook

Freedom is not something talked about extensively. Most often freedom is an aspect of our lives that is overlooked. Whether due to worries about how to pay rent, the overwhelming grind of going to work every day, or just being way too busy, we forget that we have been granted the freedom to live life. Things like these are so easily forgotten with the way we define life. In turn, the way we live life defines our relationship with God. Our relationship with God should not be defined by how we feel. Nor should it be based on anything at all. God stands alone. He cant be defined. So instead of trying to define God, I challenge us to live by the definition of life God so freely gave to us. Love.

There are no two more influential people in my life than the young men in this picture: Hender, on the left, and Heido, to the right. Heido came to me in a time of need and lead the way to the village where Hender lived. Hender was one of less than ten believers in his village. Every morning when I went to read, he read with me. On leaving, I left him my Bible and told him to read it to his friends and family. On our return a year later, we came to find a group of over twenty believers—including his mom and sister. Another year passed and word came back that the church grew even larger and that Hender’s dad and brother came to believe as well. They told me further that Hender was still reading and learning. Not even old enough to be in high school, these two taught me more about bravery, love, and obedience than I ever thought possible.

A Different Definition. Title seems pretty catchy and interesting, but I cannot say it came from any thoughts of my own. Also I cannot say the words in this book are all from my own mind. Jesus spoke of a much better definition and it has been recorded in Matthew 5, 6, and 7. In my personal opinion I would much rather you read that collection over mine. But, if you do continue to read I pray that this book is merely a reflection of the Different Definition of life Jesus spoke so much about. If any of my pride comes through I apologize. All these things I first write to myself. Let God be in your reading and let Him show you the gift of life He freely gives.

    SIN

Even as a small child we had our own definition of sin. To sin was to do something bad, to lie, cheat, steal; or if we were a BIG sinner to murder. We knew to sin was wrong, and if we sinned we were to be punished. Our lifestyle was defined by this definition of sin. If we weren’t sinning we believed everything would go good in life, but if we were having troubles it meant we were sinning. Many live their whole life with these thoughts and in all reality, it seems like a decent way to go through life. But how is sin really defined?

One of the earliest accounts of sin was in the Roman army. The Roman archers used levels of sin to define how much they missed their target by. If they missed the bulls eye, or the center of the target, that was a sin. Their main goal in practice or combat was to not sin and
