Overcome Your Thirst: A Journey to Finding Life’S Fulfillment
()
About this ebook
Overcome Your Thirst reveals a unique parallel between the life of the Woman at the Well in Scripture and life in this present time. Although the events of this familiar story happened back in Bible times, the book reveals some underlying truths that are still both present and relevant in the lives of so many people today. Overcome Your Thirst is designed to take its readers on a life-changing journey that would unveil the deeply rooted yearnings in their lives, unmask the exhaustion of temporary fulfillment, and ultimately point them to the only source of eternal satisfaction.
Phoenicia E. Warner
As a young woman, Phoenicia desired to understand the thirst that she felt deep within but did not understand what it was. As time went on, and the more she became engrossed in service to God in various capacities, she began to notice the movement of God in her life. One day while on the streets of St. Thomas USVI, a stranger came up to her and proclaimed powerful truths into her life. While she pondered the meaning of the prophetic words spoken into her life, she continued to search for God on many levels and remained opened to Him as He faithfully ordered her steps. Working in various facets of the local ministry, she slowly began to watch God guide her life. She began to understand the nurturing spirit of a mother as it manifested through the many children who were placed into her life for care and guidance. While still yet a teenager herself, she found herself nurturing troubled and misunderstood youth, while continuing to offer sound advice to even adults in the kingdom of God and those around her. Thirsting for the Living Waters that would fill her spirit, Phoenicia endured many trials and tribulations as most who have a call on their lives do. Nevertheless she answered the call to write this manuscript as a testament to those who seek to quench a thirst they do not understand but know there is a calling and a yearning to fulfill the purpose that God has placed on their lives. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
A t the completion of this project and assignment, I stand in acknowledgement of Jehovah God and His Holy Spirit for providing all that I needed to fulfill this task in one way or another.
First for the revelation of His Word, and the ability to get it from heart-form, to book-form, I am grateful. I acknowledge and give thanks for His guidance that was provided every step of the way, and for the many persons that He has sent along the way to give assistance, support and encouragement.
I acknowledge my husband for being the motivational force that caused me to remain true to the woman that God has created me to be, and for the constant reminder to stay focused on the purpose that God has placed on my life. To my sister Val who contributed her editorial services, Cassi who kept me on task, my Mother, Eileen Warner and everyone who believed in me and offered other assistance in any way, my heart is overwhelmed with gratitude. Special thanks to Robert Oxendine for the Author’s Photo. There is not enough time or pages that would allow me to make mention of every name, but if you know who you are, please note that I could not have done this without you, and would like for you to accept my humble word of thanks!
PREFACE
I t was a day like any other day on my thirty-minute break from the demands that came from life as a care-giver at the child-care facility where I had been employed for less than two months at that time. Although the much needed break was only but a half hour long, I often used the time to regroup and reenergize. The peace that came with sitting in silence, usually in my car or at a nearby park, was incredible. Many days I would take advantage of the aura of tranquillity, by getting into the Word of God and simply communing with my Heavenly Father.
During this particular break, I chose to do some reading, and in consideration of the amount of time that I had to play with, it was one of those moments where I decided to read from a page that I randomly flipped the old tattered Bible open to. After one flip, a very familiar scripture jumped off of the page and immediately got my attention. It was the story of the Woman at the Well. As much as I had read and heard many references made to this particular scripture, the download of revelation that I received once I read the words that seemed to be floating off the pages, was both new and fresh to me. It was as if I had read the story for the first time in my life. Not only did it become fresh, I immediately realized how much the life of the Woman at the Well was still present and overwhelmingly represented in our lives today. Very specifically, that very evening, I had
