Beautiful Feet: Why the Great Commission Has No Omission
By Marcus King

About this ebook
The Great Commission is something that every Christian is exposed to. Go and make disciples is the command that has echoed through history as Jesus words. But to whom was he speaking? At some point in our walks, we just cannot contain Gods goodness and his message. But where do we go? And how do we do it?
Stories inspire us to do more and be more, but what does more look like?
In Beautiful Feet, Marcus King shares his story of how he understood that when he heard Jesus last words echo into his time, it was because Christ was speaking to him. God shaped his dream of becoming a missionary to more than he had imagined. Using journals and blogs that he kept and poems that he wrote, Marcus challenges us to see missions as something for all of us, wherever we are, whatever we do.

Introduction: Beautiful Feet
She dances like fire and melts my heart with joy.
The image of a dancer comes to mind when I think about feet. Most foot sayings are associated with dancing: two left feet, fancy footwork, toe tapping, etc. Of course, we athletes and proud half-letes also think about sports and how important footwork is. Position is the art of gunnery,
my scoutmaster once told me while doing something completely unrelated to sports. (He was tying a knot around a tree.) But going back to the image of dancers—and God’s call …
I have a friend who is a dancer—a beautiful dancer—and one day I was shocked (well … scared) when I saw her feet. It is not that they were hideous, flipper-paw-claw-like mutations—rough and scaly like a crocodile; it was just the divide between her beautiful dancing and her … feet. I do not have a foot fetish, and there is a point here (no pun intended). She had dancer’s feet. They pay the price of her dedication and talent. They feel the earth, the stage beneath, every shock from every jump, every plié, every point and flex. They have the burns of one who never gives up. They hold her up when she is tired, excited, and they have carried her and her heart and her dancing. They are worn yet lovely—like your favorite pair of Converse.
Isaiah 52:7 says, How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news. Who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’
I used to equate beauty with flawlessness, so beautiful feet were flawless feet. But flawless feet do not go anywhere. Like feet, our lives as missionaries/Christians do take a beating from the world we live in as we carry God’s heart through the world. Like my friend’s feet, we touch the earth—the dirty, sin-soaked world. Our path is sprinkled with broken lives, relationships, and promises, the torn fabric of society, people—beautiful people—who were dragged through the mud by injustice and lies. We walk among the dark and the dead bringing life and light to this world. How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!
Unlike feet, our beauty is inherent and cannot be erased through contact with evil. We walk as Jesus walked—acting justly, being merciful, and living humbly before God (Micah 6:8). As our movements draw across the earth God’s picture for His people, Scripture’s lines flow, making the body a beautiful dancer. The church—she dances like fire.
