Foreword

I first met Melani Akuna when Rose and I stayed at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel (a historic landmark in Waikiki), where she was employed. In our conversation as we were checking out of the hotel I initiated speaking life and blessing into her and was elated when she identified herself to be a Christian. We prayed for God’s favor and wisdom to guide her in the many important decisions she would be making that would result in a fruitful and fulfilling life and ministry.

Melani’s book describes her personal journey in not only discovering, but also developing and deploying her calling as an intercessor for others and a watchwoman over those whom God has assigned her. The confirmation and validation of her calling was in identifying whose she was—a daughter of her Heavenly Father. Her intimate relationship with God sensitized her heart to a point where the things that broke His heart broke her heart. She understands what makes God tick, what ticks Him off, and what tickles Him. In addition she seeks to guard her heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life (Prov. 4:23) and as a man thinks in his heart so is he (Prov. 23:7).

God has gifted His children with different spiritual gifts, passions, abilities, personalities and unique experiences. He has lavished us with His blessings and desires that all of us would live powerful lives continuously claiming God-given promises, pursuing God-sized goals, gripping God-designed dreams and seizing God-ordained opportunities. Melani is moving toward creating a culture embracing these characteristics. In her interceding for and watching over others I believe she is living a fruitful and fulfilling life through the power of the Holy Spirit that is irresistible to God.

Let the confirmation of her calling through the experiences she shares throughout her book convince you that God not only resources us but chooses us to partner with Him in fulfilling His plan that is unexplainable.
