    Life and times of Barbara Wilson

    One of ten children born 20/ Aug

    1938, was born in Leeds

    A place called Foley Lane

    Beeston, she was a pleasant girl

    Her mama and dad thought the

    world

    Of her, when Barbara was 16 she

    met a man called Matthew

    Of all places outside of a wedding

    shop- they like each other, but her

    dad did not approve her new boy

    friend. Owing to silly rumours

    which he found out to be untrue-

    they fell in love and got married

    And produced 4 children

    Eldest was called Matthew after

    his dad, then came a girl called

    Elaine, then Chris, and then

    Mark who was the youngest

    Barbara worked very hard

    In those days had 2 and 3 jobs

    To make ends meet

    Matthew her husband went to

    become a Psychiatric Nurse

    And trained for three years

    And became qualified RMN

    His wage in those days was very

    little, ₤6 a week before qualifying

    But we made the best of what we

    had

    food on the table and second hand

    clothes until Matthew wages

    Improved, we were happy family

    Then Barbara had woman’s

    condition, had an Hysterectomy at

    38, was also told she had thyroid

    Trouble - Lived down Burley

    And the moved to Cuttingly

    Estate - Barbara loved to play

    Bingo and went at the weekends

    Barbara lived at 110 Cuttingly

    Approach for 20 years or more -

    Then moved to Cuttingly Gardens

    Owing to Mark who was

    assaulted and was rushed in to the

    A&E at the LGI

    Mark was in a coma for 6 weeks

    and ended up being brain damaged

    His mama was divested with this

    news, she went and visited him every

    day while he was in hospital

    Barbara began having severe pain

    in her back and was sent to have

    pain injections in her spine, but the

    Dr who administer the injection

    placed the needle in the wrong place

    and immediately her back move over

    Causing her to have Stenos is

    To correct they operated on her back

    putting some form of scaffolding

    To correct this curvature

    But did not work, she now is bent

    over and can hardly walk

    She developed Cellulites in both

    Her legs and as to have them

    dressed everyday, to top things up

    had an x-ray and the found she has

    Cancer of both lungs, she is classed

    now as being terminally ill and was

    Told she hasn’t got long to live some

    say days others say weeks

    Everyone in the family are very

    upset about her condition

    But she is a fighter and as a strong

    will, but her condition is progressive

    She refused to have a syringe driver

    attach to her arm asked if she would

    like to die in hospital or at home

    She said home, visited by

    Community Matron and the

    palliative nurse to see if she requires

    anything, this is the situation at the

    moment, sleeping a lot and still in

    pain from her back and stomach
