    Dedication

I dedicate this book to my father, David Spring, who passed away January 2012 and my mother Sandra Spring who passed away during copy editing May 2013.

I firmly believe had they read this book thirty years ago, they would still be with us and thriving.

I love you, Mom and Dad. Hope this makes you proud and that you know you made a difference while on this earth.

    Mission Statement

To change the lives of everyone who touches this book, hears me speak, or I have the pleasure of spending time with. My thoughts are meant to inspire and educate people to operate at a higher level, live longer, and be stronger, happier, and enjoy an overall better quality of life.

    PREFACE

Turbo Fact: Many people think negatively (like losers even) and get by in life just fine. You may find that a harsh opening line, but it is true. I see it every day of my life. People thinking negatively, subconsciously always expecting to lose, and still sliding by just fine.

This country, in my opinion, supports us being negative, average, and content to live in the land of mediocrity. If one was to read this book cover to cover and apply these lessons to their life, they (you) will begin to operate at a higher level and think bigger, stronger, and faster, finding your life opening to a land that those who don’t operate at this level will never see. It’s called the Turbo Life. It will make your whole life easier. I am very, very confident of this.

As you picked up this book, I hope that the name Turbo-Charge Your Life was powerful enough for you to ask, Am I missing something? What more could I do? What in the world does it mean to Turbo-charge my life and career? If this book caught your attention, maybe you are looking to improve your life and are probably wondering how to do it.

Most of us want to improve our lives; we just don’t know how, don’t even know what we want to change. Or, we are just too busy existing in our lives that we take no time to actually think what could be different or better. It really is not your fault, as you will see me outline. It is simply a combination of generation after generation doing the same things and never getting different results (except it keeps getting worse) and society as a whole, including big business, not wanting us to change.

The first great news of the book: Turbo-charging your life is not based on a bunch of mumbo jumbo, BS talk. It is based on facts and processes. These facts, how I educated myself and formed habits, are how I, Troy Turbo Spring, went from feeling like I had no control over my life to waking up and saying, "Wow, I did it! I like who I am."

Today, I am stronger than ever, mentally, physically, and emotionally. Three years ago, I was at rock bottom, ready to call it quits. Today, I am ready to tackle the world! It took me eighteen plus months of self-coaching to get to this point, and I want to help you to get there much faster than I did. I educated myself, beat addictions (to legal things like sugar and fatty foods, overspending, etc.), and programmed myself to think differently. You have a huge advantage over me because I did the work for you, and I am providing the road map to success.

Rewind: I had been in a codependent relationship, lost my very high-paying job when the economy went south, and I ended up owing Uncle Sam over $210,000. I was the heaviest and unhealthiest I had ever been—I should mention, for me, heavy was 170 pounds, and no one noticed really, but I felt it—was stressed out, overfinanced, and overworked. I was dealing with my second marriage ending badly, and both of those broken marriages left me reeling and hurt. I lived in a $500,000 home with a three-acre spread that I liked to refer to as Casa de Spring and had to downsize in the economic shift of 2009.

I really could go on and just whine forever, and for a while, that was just what I did. I felt powerless. The whining only got me further behind. It turns out that complaining is counterproductive. Who knew? Yes, that was facetious. How could you expect anything else from negativity and whining than being counterproductive? Somehow, people expect their lives to change, yet only try and complain their way through it.

It was daunting and overwhelming to me just how many curveballs were thrown my way and how many of them I created myself or I could have avoided. To some degree, I think many people (most even) feel this way on a daily basis, even if their life had not gotten as bad and out of control as mine. There are many levels of feeling powerless. My level was very, very high, and I was at my breaking point.

Enter the Turbo life. As I moved into my new apartment, fresh off the separation from wife number 2 (I prefer not to go into any details of my marriages due to respect for the women I married and my children), I thought about how my friends call me Turbo and I wasn’t close to being worthy of it. However, the me that I let them see was so different from the real me. During business hours and in front of most people, nobody could guess the demons I was battling. I put on a pretty good front, but it was catching up with me. I had a harder and harder time making it through each day wearing the mask. I recently gave a speech and talked about the day I walked into a grocery store to a coin exchange with the last sixty-five dollars I had to my name in 2009. It sent shivers up my spine just reliving that experience in my mind.

One day, I had enough and decided that I was going to be worthy in my own mind of being called Turbo. (Yes, it was almost that simple. I always say that success starts with a decision.) I was going to Turbo-charge my life! It had to be done. I was not sure at that point exactly what to do; I just knew I had to do something. There was so much more I wanted out of life. I wanted my kids to see the person that I knew I was capable of being. I wanted to set an example for them. I did not want them to see this other person who seemed to be losing ground at every turn. Do you want to leave a legacy behind for your family? Do you want to just
